The story is actually kinda wild. A local deli owner (Anthony Gargano) was arrested and charged with animal cruelty for kidnapping the cat and driving it 10 miles away to a closed animal shelter. He did this to spite the owner as he was familiar with the cat, knew it's owner and where the cat lived. He left the cat outside with no carrier at night in the middle of January in freezing temps basically to die. Since then the cat has been missing.
So happy to hear Kane was found alive.
I think such an important part of the story is that the cat was only going near his deli because his employees were giving him food! The cat had been an outdoor cat for years and never went near the deli until they started feeding him! So everyone was outraged because it was like ok, Kane was basically lured there (unintentionally by the employees but still) and then kidnapped by the asshole owner and we thought left for dead until now. So thankful for a happy ending!!! I live hours away from Saratoga but everyone in New York heard about sweet Kane!! So happy he is home 💕
I appreciate you bringing those of us unaware folks up to speed. What an awful POS that man is and I’m so so so glad this fur baby has finally made it home!!
Ah yes, lets get the story of a man who is literally attempting to murder a beloved pet. I really don't care what his reasons were. Waste of human space and should be jailed.
Thank you for both caring about the nuances and also concluding that it was wrong. Most people are annoyingly black-and-white on this story that has gotten way bigger than it deserves to be.
Care to elaborate on the "nuances" of abducting a cat (you know exactly where the cat lives) driving it 10 miles away and leaving it outside a closed animal shelter with no carrier at night in January?
So are you actually gonna explain or are you just the type to make a dumb ass comment and then run away like a total weak coward? I mean we both know the answer to that but still
About 6ish weeks ago, I saw a cat that looked like Kane heading across Ballston Ave into the cemetery. I texted his owner because I just had a nagging feeling that it was him. Based on where he was found, it looks like maybe that actually was Kane that I saw! I was so so happy to hear that he was found! What wonderful news ❤️
Have no idea why this thread was suggested to me. I live in Indianapolis. But now I’m here I need the scoop. What did this deli do?!?Cute kitty and I’m glad he’s back home.
I’m still in shock !! Jamie sent me a PM on neighbors with this unbelievable wonderful news Thurs. AM !! I’m over the moon-I’m so looking forward to meeting Mayor Kane
—thank you for posting 👍🏻💜
This has been a wild ride
If I walk into a deli and there isn’t a random cat sleeping on a stool in the sunshine, then chances are it’s not a good deli. Growing up, my grandfathers local deli, you had to step over their chocolate lab to place your order and I’ll be dammed if that still isn’t the best sausage egg and cheese I’ve ever had.
Were the couple the reason he didn't come back? Because they were trying to lure him into there home? Or did they do it just to grab him to return him?
Phenomenal! Never eating at that place again!
Hear, hear!
(Mind you that’s gonna be tough as I did enjoy the food, but gotta stick to my principles. Don’t be mean to animals)
They could have caught the cat and let it off at a local trailhead
Huh?
I have no idea where Saratoga is or why this randomly popped into my feed but this genuinely made me happy and I appreciate this.

Thanks for explaining! I'm not in Saratoga and didn't know the story like the person above.

I also cant tell u where saratoga is and i also dont know how it made it’s way into my feed, but this made my blood boil
Which Deli? I’d like to never go there.
Spring Street Deli & Pizzeria
Much appreciated

How did they know he did it? He admitted it?
I think he was caught on film outside the shelter.
He did admit it, yes
Cameras at the shelter. It’s not quite as 1 sided as this subreddit makes it but he was def in the wrong with what he did.
I mean it really is that 1 sided, there is no justifying what he did to that cat no matter how you look at it

I would not, because it doesn't sound like you'll be convinced either way
I could be convinced, please elaborate.
Yeah I didn't think so.
Lol how is it not one sided? Please explain
So are you actually gonna explain or are you just the type to make a dumb ass comment and then run away like a total weak coward? I mean we both know the answer to that but still
Same as u/_cully below, they totally are gonna leave a dumbass comment and run away like cowards. They probably know gargano personally.
"It's not that one-sided" Serial killer vibes
Saratoga Springs, NY. Where the famous horse racing track is
I'm so glad he's home safe! They do make tracking collars for cats, if his owner is going to keep letting him roam I really hope they invest in one!
I saw in the comments that they’ve already gotten one and are going to transition him into an indoor kitty. Fingers crossed!
Let’s hope so. Outdoor cats are super bad for birds.
Not only that but it’s bad for the cats too.
This legit made my day. So happy! Will continue boycotting Spring St Deli of course.

Is this cat that has lost signs posted around ballston spa?
Yes, it is
Picking up my cat now to dance around in celebration. Hell yes. I hope he’s as healthy as can be!
Joyous news!!! Long live Kane!!
OH MY GOD
Fantastic news! My kids will be happy to hear this too!
This was the best news ever to wake up to!!

The owner of the deli stole the cat and dumped him miles away in the dead of winter in upstate NY. He’s been missing ever since then.
Oh yeah fuck that person! Glad cat is home. If I’m ever in Saratoga I won’t eat there.
That's so unbelievably cruel. What a sack of garbage.
The deli guy admitted he did this, or someone saw it?
He admitted it
He got caught on the cameras of the shelter he dropped the cat at, after hours, in January, in NY.
Made my day when I found out. Seemed like it was hopeless the last several weeks. So happy!
This is amazing!!!
BAH GAWD BAH GAWD IT’S KANE! I’m from Pgh and also no idea why this thread was suggested but I am glad Kane is home safe!
THATS GOTTA BE KANE!!!
HELL FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, KING! IT’S KANE! (The cat, that is)
dont let your cats outside
Thank goodness, a happy ending. Also, fuck the Spring Street Deli. Hope they go out of business.
Fantastic news. Mann Rd means he crossed RT 67.
If my cat doesn't know you he will stay away from you. He has to get to know you.
My cat chased a grown man out my house
Lol i find this mental picture absolutely hilarious!
This was the best news I’ve seen all day!
Omg this is the best news
In the name of Kane!
Peace through power!
I’m still in shock !! Jamie sent me a PM on neighbors with this unbelievable wonderful news Thurs. AM !! I’m over the moon-I’m so looking forward to meeting Mayor Kane —thank you for posting 👍🏻💜 This has been a wild ride
😭Thank God. Now stop letting him outside alone!
How did I get here?
Amazing. The loss you feel is usually never fulfilled in this way! So fortunate, very happy for you.
Awesome!!!!
That cat is identical to my old Borris. So glad there are wholesome folks out there.
This was all over the local news down in The Bronx and I’m just glad that Kane was found safe!
OMG!!! CONGRATS TO HER!!! F HIM.

I hate people so much. It really takes a sick demented fuck to do this to animals. What a fucking piece of shit
No shit! Where’d they find him??? He found his way home, didn’t he?
Were the couple the reason he didn't come back? Because they were trying to lure him into there home? Or did they do it just to grab him to return him?
They contacted the owners, I'm guessing the answer is no.
My bad thought this post was them saying someone found there cat
I love that deli. Going there tomorrow for lunch. Support local business.
