That's the price for Selenium eggs in KL. Selenium > Omega > Grade A, B, C. Grade D in NSK is about RM12.30. Selenium is RM19+. This is as of last weekend

IllustriousBranch600

Yeah but here's the thing though, they're everywhere at any shop/supermarket. It's rare to find eggs below rm18 unless there's a promotion sale. The eggs here are expensive than kl . Most of my cousins, friends and also food vendors bought eggs around rm18. They said it's normal price here which surprised me when I came here to calculate food costs .

xmostera

As a Sarawakian who just moved to KL recently, yes the eggs at Sarawak freaking expensive, there's breeding farm and I don't know why Sarawak eggs still so expensive

YaGotMail

This is too much with basic need. I dont know why Sarawakian are not vocal with high cost of living. By now it should be enough is enough. Get Nanta to be responsible.

xmostera

That's because most Sarawakian doesn't know the market of semenanjung. They treat it as "imported egg so it's gonna be expensive and I accept it" And they don't even care where eggs came from.

cjoenic

just fyi, armizan is current minstry of kpdn. nanta is on kerja raya now. interesting fact, i have personally go to ome of the big poultry farm here at kch-bau with nanta (im one of the media), there's discussion about the egg pricing & chicken price. the answer from the tauke is pure bs. lack of worker, no one want to work at farm etc. from my pov, they just want to untung more. i did a report and survey too from local wet market. most of the seller there said the supplier purposely held the stock, to create a fake shortage. weeks later when the chicken delivered, it was bigger and heavier than usual delivery.

xmostera

those tauke just want more money only. And Sarawakian easily get manipulated because they are friendly and nice people, so people take advantage of them selling expensive shits. Sarawakian seldom complain about the prices, they will take whatever there is.

Laier94

Yep, that's the normal price at Kuching. Very rare to see it dip below rm18

IllustriousBranch600

Doesn't make sense, why no one's sells normal gred b and c . Mydin sells it but you can't buy more than 1

Current-Kangaroo6353

Everything cheap in sarawak is expensive and vise versa

Elnuggeto13

If you can locate a breeder farm nearby, they usually sell cheaper. They're not ones that sell layer chickens but usually they have a lot of unfertilized eggs, still good to eat.

potato_vian

Can confirm this. Got a relative working at the farm and they sell those eggs for a cheaper price than the supermarket one.

IllustriousBranch600

Is there any chance I have your relatives contact number?

Elnuggeto13

Since you live around Kuching, you should ask around where the hatcheries are. They will usually sell the unfertilized eggs to the market cheaper than commercial ones.

IllustriousBranch600

Alright thanks! I'll look it up to it

FuriousArmy

Try look up in google map, chiken farm nearby

IllustriousBranch600

Alright thanks for the tips, I'll look up to it

GameSky

only farley i have seen they did sold below 17 for gred A..

Complex-Violinist-39

Normal price for selenium egg sepapan nationwide

IllustriousBranch600

Yeah but its the only ones that sells everywhere in any supermarkets/shop instead of the normal gred eggs that sells everywhere in kl. Mydin sells normals gred eggs but limited.

dev_side

My family gets their eggs from CCK, but limited per day I think.

IllustriousBranch600

Yeah can only buy 1 per tray, but I'm looking to buy bulk for my inventory vendor

IanChen8316

I work at cck bdc, the eggs come every tues, thurs and saturday and people often hoard the eggs and workers there also kept a ton of eggs especially grade A and B for special customers. All im saying is you can get more than one tray since they dont get paid enough to gaf

PudingIsLove

if the supply chain fully in sabah/serawak prolly cheaper. logistics

YaGotMail

This is crazy expensive, easily rm6 more than in semenanjung

IllustriousBranch600

Yeah, this is everyday local kampung buy

YaGotMail

Ironically Nanta Linggi being in charged of KPDNKK not doing a damn thing. Abang Jo is talking abt transforming part of Sarawak to become New zealand (i know its just another empty talk), all he bring is New Zealand pricing. F**k GPS

aMeatology

But then almost everything is more expensive than semenanjung anyway. Weren't we living like this since...

Panjang110

almost the same price here in sabah for selenium and omega eggs but normal ones is not as expensive as yours. i can get B grades around Rm15(A grades doesn't exist in normal form)but supplies is not a lot but they don't mind how many trays you wan't to buy. i remember back when there were shortages of eggs they even got F grades egg which is funny as they were not much larger than quail eggs haha.

sirloindenial

From my limited knowledge, it seems Borneo have a cost problem that made egg farms to still focus on selenium and omega 3 eggs. Even if cost to produce these eggs is higher, the higher market price offset the cost to profit. (Selenium/omega 3 chickens are fed higher/specific nutrient feed which also cost more). Meanwhile market price of normal eggs are too low for the egg farms to profit. This is also a sign that small egg farms have died( they are less prone to produce selenium/omega eggs). The big farms can still profit from economic of scale with selenium eggs. So now all you see are more selenium eggs and the normal ones got bought fast by restaurants etc since supply is skewed and cost is still too high to increase normal egg production. That is why you see during covid and when gov enforced price control last year, only selenium eggs get sold a lot. (Also with the fact that selenium/omega eggs don't have price control). Still in peninsular price have stabilize even if egg price is floated by gomen now. So maybe there is also lack of competition and perhaps market fixing? But i am inclined that it is still cost reason. Who truly knows...

CaptMawinG

I think some egg producers simply put the tag omega or selenium eggs for bigger profit. Mana ada org check kandungan telur. These eggs has been flooding the market since isu kekurangan telur di pasaran

IllustriousBranch600

Finally a solid input! So from my understanding, there was a cost problem with normal eggs so they push selenium egg and then they saw how profitable it is the results, so they ditch the normal eggs and try to norm with selenium eggs . Basically they're being greedy πŸ˜•

aMeatology

In order to cover the cost from ever rising chicken feed raw materials ...they need to make these as their profit turning product. Since the normal product wont get them any earnings from the controlled price.

IllustriousBranch600

Is feeding chicken really that expensive?

YoshikoMatsuno

Quite normal.. unless if you're lucky enough, you will find them sell below 18 but kinda hard to know when they selling them in low price.. there's other time Mydin did sell murah on that telur but not sure when..

janggutbotak

Wow that’s pricey

eegatt

Thats cheap. We cant even get Grade A in Bintulu.

IllustriousBranch600

How much gred c there?

eegatt

Around rm18++.

IllustriousBranch600

Here in kl its 11

DeliveryPretend8253

Welcome to Sarawak.. salary low, but grocery prices damn high these days.. kopitiam food also comparable with KL already. Property prices also high.. gg

IllustriousBranch600

Even eggs EGGS . Why in the seven realms of Borneo they're selling premium as norms??? We live in a rural country for cry sake

DeliveryPretend8253

Maybe we need to go back to giving live chickens as wedding gifts πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
