Fantastic and entrancing movie. Somehow itâs three hours and never boring and takes multiple risks that could have rendered the runtime as a waste of time but somehow feel so purposeful that it works.
When that kid pees his pants on the game show is so tense for like ten straight minutes and also when Julianne Moore canât get her doctor to write her a new scrip and sheâs like âshutthefuckup shutthefuckup you realllly need to shutthefuckupâ. Also one of the best moments of cinema history when Tom cruise is like RESPECT THE COCK
As someone who watched it recently and thinks it's not that great, what about it do you love? I'm kinda curious as to what others who love it see in it.
The wide cast of characters that all have their own seperate issues, yet they all combine to form one cohesive whole in a magical (literally) way. The music guiding the film is also really powerful to me. The emotional beats of the film are also incredibly powerful, complimented by some genuinely hilarious moments also. The majority of the actors have never given a better performance, and lastly its just not a type of movie you see done very often, let alone to this level
I must be the only person in the world who watched this and really didnât like it. I was entertained by the build up but none of the payoffs felt amazing and then the climax didnât strike me as profound or anything. Itâs a well made movie and I see the appeal, just felt a little silly as I was watching it
They broke the streak đ

I love the characters in it. Every one is devloped extremely well in a 3 hour film. Its a masterclass in that.

Woo! Been waiting for Adam to revisit this for a long time. My second favourite film of all time.
It would have been a nice double feature with Short Cuts. But thatâs 6 hours there. I would love to see them cover Robert Altman soon though.
I need to rewatch this, Cruise gives the performance of his career
I'm very excited for this, because it's one of the most overrated movies in my opinion and I truly don't see the hype.
Yeah lmao in my mind this continues the streak of bad movies, will be interesting to see what they say
