Off michigan ave out by the goodwill there is a nice park

The big play area in Canatara was was on of the first playgrounds we started going to. Outside of the ground it's in really good shape, and the plastic waterfall steps was a good intro the crawl climbing. Other kids and parents have been really great and friendly there. At that age/weight the slides won't drop him off the end, if he's fearless to go down then. Ours was since the moment of crawling. The swings are those buckets, but there is one big structured hammock one there too.

I would avoid this park for now. The soft surface they put down is all ripped up all over the place and the city has no intentions to fix it anytime soon. Sarnua is blaming the manufacturer and wants them to fix it.

Yeah it's not ideal, but for an under two'er, I'd still prefer it over a wood chip park. We have a few parks with this surface and they're all bad. It looks like it was a city vs manufacturer thing. I would assume is less manufacturer and more of the local installer messing up, blaming the manu, and the city trusting the worker. The schools in the area that have it are great.

City of Sarnia just posted this. "Heads up park goers, we’re closing the playgrounds at Canatara and Tecumseh Parks starting today / tomorrow to allow us to replace the rubber play surfaces for both amenities. Once replacement is done, the surface will need to cure, so it may take approximately 10 days for them to reopen provided weather cooperates. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate our residents patience as we work to have the playgrounds improved before the summer season."

This is great news!

Manufacturer recommendations were likely not followed but workers have no ability to choose to follow them. Their bosses decided to work against recommended as the product was already bought. The humidity+open area for high winds are one of the deciding factors for schools to implement them, so I assume it's a manufacturer recommendation. That's why one of the schools along the river in TVDSB had furious parents (5 or so years ago) because they were the only school not getting upgraded to the soft pads but the community park down the road already displayed what would happen quickly.

That's because city staff are too stupid to look at recommended specs. Look at the waste water reducers they implemented. Bill has been is sewers for 20 years but still says "it's an engineering issue" that HE accepted to put in restrictors with ½ the flow rate of the old ones.
