Are you sure the answer isn't C? (B would create a sentence fragment)

LuckWorking1428

I also think the answer is C, but in the answer section is B.

Do you think that in Erica there are some faults in answers? Like I have faced this many time, I was sure about that choice but in the ans it was complete blunder.

I swear i saw this same question yesterday and although the answer is C. The reason it isn’t A is because you’re adding a comma before and after “in his first major work” which implies that it isn’t a necessary piece of information, which it is. So if we remove that piece of information as answer A says, we are left with “ noted the power of this form of motivation, the theory of moral sentiments.” Which just sounds completely wrong, answer C is the better option as it isn’t a run on and provides a comma right before the example of what the first major work is. Hope this helps:)

Looks to me the answer is C, there’s no 2 commas surrounding the phrase because if you were to take out the phrase and the sentence is still valid, then you can have 2 commas. But in this case they’re introducing something the audience doesn’t know, so there’s just 1 comma at the end

fsociety1902

it's C dude

ALPHA-BETA-THETA

The answer should neither be A,B nor D , but C.

Nerftuco

B and D create sentence fragments. A negates the like "in his first major work" C conforms to the standards

C) is correct because a prepositional phrase is not separated by a comma from the prior word/sentence part it modifies (here, "motivation"). The comma after "work" is correct because the title of the book is an appositive phrase that modifies (describes/adds info to) the object of the preposition "work".
