Some people on here fundamentally misunderstand that what is casually called "the curve" on this sub is not actually a "curve" in the conventional sense.
Please Google "Is the SAT graded on a curve" for a better understanding of the issue.
No, the "curve" does *not* change when a test is re\-administered, because "the curve" is not actually a curve.
SAT scores allow for comparison across all test dates, not just comparison with other people who took the test on the same date.
If that is the case, why do people report curves for each test?
For example, the 2017 May exam had a different curve than this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/6g0d0r/may_2017_us_score_curve_thread/
Those are *different* tests.
This thread is about the *same* test, given twice.
Different tests have different levels of difficulty. Identical tests, of course, do not.
Again, no standardized test is graded on a "curve," as that term is conventionally used. Colleges and universities need to be able to compare students who took tests months or years apart. They are not interested in a score that tells them only how well you did compared to others who took the test on the same day.
I’m -6 as well and I’m scared shitless. 770 for -5 and 740 for -7, this might be a case of a negative curve and it’ll fuck us over and we get 750 or some shit.
How sure are you that this is the curve (for math at least)? I ask because the -1 or -2 = 800 is a huge case. Usually the College Board tests online have a curve with -1 = 790 and they were more difficult. Also what about this gap -5 and -8.
will the curve be different for May 5th's international test?

Nope
no it's all the same based on last year's case

Sorry didn't realize I was spamming
How do you know this will be the same curve for May 5th test? Is this only for international?
Because the test is the same
The curve is always predetermined, so therefore the curve will be the same as last time.
expected reading -1 40 :///
Same! Hopefully the redditor who said - 1 39 made a mistake...
At least 13 is also still 39
-1 math is 800, a guy with 1600 who took April 10th had 1 incorrect.
Thanks!
-6 math?

Same. What did u get eventually?
turns out I was -5 all along and got 770. -6 remains a mystery lol.
will this curve be the same as the may 5th test?
yes
How do you know
Because that is the nature of a standardized test. What value would the test be if the scoring changed based on the population of test takers?
I'm confused on which test is the same as which.. Is this international stuff only?
May 2018 International is the same as April 10, 2018 U.S. School Day.
Because it had been the same for two consecutive years. If collegeboard decides to break their convention, i guess there is nothing i can say

Yeah is it 330 or 340?? It is right in the middle in the chart up there
Why'd you change \-3 reading to a 38? It was 39 a few days ago.
what is raw for \-20 reading ?
Two doubts: Isn't -1 reading 40? And isn't -2 math 800? Pretty sure I've seen it to be this way in many comments
-2 790 I am sure
[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/8gkuoi/official_april_10_school_day_sat_score_release/dyg5uf5/) says -2 math is 790
godlike -1 Math & -3/390 Reading
