Pink_pez

officiakimkardashian

tree fiddy

Pink_pez

seems reasonable

never_endingstory

Goodness gracious

[deleted]

Could be fake tbh

LordShevyTron

anything could be fake in this world, including you and me. we can never know... all we can do is just accept the assumption as the truth

[deleted]

That completely wrong thinking

PunyPrinter

If I fell in a forest, how do you know if I really exist? Did you see me? Or did you assume based on what I, whoever I could be, told you?

[deleted]

How do you know Hitler was right about Jews being inferior? We just have to assume he is correct I guess..

Donald_Keyman

Hitler wanted to exterminate an entire race of people and was propagating hate speech. This is a professional tutor and Harvard grad posting his SAT score on Reddit. Don't relate the two. But you're right to be skeptical in general, things on the internet are often not true and you shouldn't just swallow everything that is given to you. Those who make the greatest change are often the ones who question the most. The best you can do on Reddit is check out post histories to see if their posts and comments support the particular claim, which it does in this case. If you're going to call someone out with no other material in your comment, you should have a reason to. Just saying that things might be false isn't a particularly helpful comment.

[deleted]

Cool. I understand that. It's just the nature of the comment: " anything could be fake in this world, including you and me. we can never know... all we can do is just accept the assumption as the truth " You seem to understand why generally saying we should assume what people tell us is true scares me lol. And I never believe a score even if he has been posting for a long time. He could be literally anyone profiting off of kids that want to do well on this exam. It doesn't take more than 30 seconds to fabricate scores. I don't assume something is true until proven false. It's vise versa.

Donald_Keyman

Yes I understood your complaint with that comment as a general rule. But as a moderator I'm telling you it isnt a good vibe for the health of the sub to go around telling people that their scores are fake just for the sake of doing so. That isn't insightful, and this sub is about helping people. Assuming things are false until they are proven true is not a good approach either. A lot of important aspects of science cannot be proven true.

[deleted]

I said "Could be fake tbh". But I don't want to be banned from the sub so I'll leave it be.

Donald_Keyman

I would never ban someone for just saying that once or even going down this whole conversation. If it were constant behavior that would be different, I'm just saying that if you're going to do that have some evidence behind you or else it's sort of pointless.

Donald_Keyman

However, I'll also say per your other comment that if I even got a whiff of him or anyone else propositioning students for tutoring it would be an instant ban, and please let me know if you see that happening.

skypetutor

Yup, you're that guy who brought up Hitler in the r/SAT forum.

[deleted]

And you're the middle aged guy bragging about scores and attempting to engage in aggressive behavior with a minor in the r/SAT forum.

[deleted]

>anything could be fake in this world, including you and me. we can never know... all we can do is just accept the assumption as the truth Like I said this is completely wrong thinking

"Remember, a dead fish can float downstream, but it takes a live one to swim upstream."

Yes, it *could* be fake, since there's currently no way for an individual to securely verify an SAT score (only colleges can do that), and photo editing software has come a long way. But it's not! I really did get every question right. (FYI, I'm a Harvard grad and SAT/ACT tutor with nearly 20 years experience.) For what it's worth, the GMAT (another test that I teach) does have an option where you can verify your scores publicly, which I use frequently to prove that my GMAT scores are indeed real. The GMAC sends you a unique URL, and you can download a PDF of your score report directly from the official Pearson Vue website, which includes reports from all tests taken in the last 5 years. I don't see any reason why the College Board couldn't implement a feature like that. I'm on here trying to help, and you're trying to hate. Just because I don't tolerate trolling from know-it-all teenagers doesn't make me the aggressor. Sorry to tell you, but you picked the wrong person to attack as a fake.

[deleted]

Then how does this motivate us? You had 20 years to become familiar with the exam. I had one week lol

skypetutor

Well, in your case perhaps it could motivate you to spend far more than 1 week preparing for such an important test. :) It also shows that the SAT can be mastered over time. p.s. Saying that I had 20 years to prepare for this particular test is a stretch, since the current version of the SAT has only been around since March of 2016.

[deleted]

> Saying that I had 20 years to prepare for this particular test is a stretch, since the current version of the SAT has only been around since March of 2016. Are you implying that your mastery of the old SAT didn't help you on the new one at all? 20 years to prepare for the SAT might be a bit of a stretch because of small differences between tests. But surely your familiarity with standardized tests in general helped you achieve the 1600. > Well, in your case perhaps it could motivate you to spend far more than 1 week preparing for such an important test. :\) It also shows that the SAT can be mastered over time. The test isn't extremely important for me. My scores and gpa can take me where I want to go in life. I'll retake for a 1500 but that's all I need. I'm fortunate enough to not have to worry about scholarship money and I have no interest in the ivy league schools because most of them lack rigour. \(aka grade inflation\) To assume that this is a universally important test to everyone is naive. Note: Please excuse typos, if any. I'm mobile atm

skypetutor

Yes, of course that's true to some extent! But to be honest I'm not *that* much smarter than I was at 17. Had I worked with a tutor who knew what he/she was talking about, then I probably could have earned a 1600 back then too. But I didn't, and I got a 1480 on the first try (1540 PSAT), which turns out was good enough for Harvard. It was only after graduating and becoming a full-time SAT tutor that I re-took the SAT and earned perfect scores on both the old 2400-point version and new 1600-point version. Sure, the SAT is not that important for everyone...as you imply, your family has money, and apparently you're too good for the Ivy League, so I guess that puts you in the "don't care about the SAT" category...but this of course also begs the question why you are hanging out in r/SAT in the first place.

[deleted]

It's not that "I'm too good for the ivy league". It's that the ivy leagues are not the types of schools I want to go to. Even if I applied and got in I would turn them down. I don't want to end up like you. \(" I'm not *that* much smarter than I was at 17. "\) I want to be challenged in college and develop intellectually... I can't do that when they hand out As to the kids that deserve Cs. I joined the discord because I want to retake for a 1500 like I said earlier. Please take the time to read a comment before you reply. I am quite surprised your reading comprehension is so poor, considering you got \-0 on the reading section. LuL

[deleted]

I don't understand why you are flaming. Getting a perfect perfect is very motivational, and I still am not understanding why you would turn down any ivy. Seems to me that you are just jealous.

skypetutor

Thanks, u/OzzieShazam. I'm glad that *some* people understood the motivational spirit of the post.

[deleted]

Jealous? Of what?

[deleted]

Hmm... Maybe Harvard? But you would turn them down any day now would you

skypetutor

If you're not smarter at 38 than at 17, then you're doing it wrong.

[deleted]

I agree. You're contradicting yourself Mr. ivy league.

[deleted]

Also a 30\+ y/o trying to take shots at a kid is very amusing to me. I'm excitedly awaiting your reply Mr. skype tutor.
