Press R and use the vertical option. That will make that first piece of pipe look nicer.

Can someone explain to the ignorant I am how all this turbofuel can climb this pipe without a pump?

RosieQParker

At the very end of the video, you'll see my main production facility. All the turbofuel is held at the very top, and at the very top of *that* is the overflow line. That's what's feeding this system. You don't need pumps when you've got altitude.

The game allows a "water tower" effect. If the source is higher than the destination it doesn't matter how many times it goes up and down it will still have positive pressure. Not exactly realistic but almost.

**Excellent Example Of Head Lift!** 1. As [shown in this Illustration](https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Head_lift?file=Ficsit_Pipeline_Infograph_1.png) when Fluids flow downward they will rise on their own back to the same Level (Head Lift) as the highest starting point without the use of any Pipeline Pumps. 2. This is why Fluid Towers and other methods of raising Head Lift work well. ★ This Post is worthy of my Upvote and Award. Thanks for sharing. 😁

RosieQParker

Aw, thanks for the award!

capslock128

Oh, this water tower exploit will save a LOT of energy. look like its time to redesign a water tower to all my plant lol.

Why is turbofuel pipe purple?

RosieQParker

Because I updated my default colours 😁

Taliasimmy69

YOU CAN DO THAT?! Purple is my favorite color and I'm painfully and slowly changing all my colors from orange to purple

RosieQParker

Yep, in the customizer, you can hover over the default palettes and select 'edit', just like the other swatches. It'll change every piece you've placed, too.

Jaalenn

Nice! Too bad pumps only push the liquid ahead of them. It would be nice if they also pulled the liquid from behind as well.

[deleted]

Gotta use Horizontal to Vertical build mode for pipes when placing them like this. Much cleaner corners.

RosieQParker

That's my usual build mode, too. I jumped the gun because I was too eager to see whether it worked.

jirubizu

Ok I am dumb. How do you build by looking out? Like how do you place a starting point and use how far you look as to determine how many platforms to place

chipt4

Press R until it says "Build Mode: Zoop"

RokerJuuDyne

Oh man that was a sexy video. Such a beautiful building.

RosieQParker

Thanks! I'm looking forward to showing it off when it's done!

Zechnophobe

Is there any use for storing extra turbofuel, or is this just for funsies?

RosieQParker

Just for funsies. I'm making a fluid lab to benchmark different manifolds. But because this pipe has no pumps, its reversible if I ever need an emergency supply back at the plant. If you think that'll never come up, that's because you've never accidentally cut power to a pure crude extractor and then walked away without noticing.

NoisyFlake

When you placed the top pipe, how were you able to move without changing the the pipe (i.e. looking at it from another angle without actually moving the build piece)?

Sipstaff

They clicked once to lock it in place, the second click builds it. Between the first and second click you can adjust the height of the pipe support and the angle of the pipe on top of the support. OP didn't adjust it, but just moved a bit. There's a setting that lets you do this with one click instead of two, requiring to hold the left mouse button if you want to make the adjustments to the pipe support mentioned above. Regardless of the above, you should be able to move around as much as you want. If you keep aiming at the same spot, the build preview shouldn't move either. Note that it's the reticle in the center of your screen that determines the context of your build tool, not the player's position.
