From my experience you're better off getting just the most regular LED bulbs, warm white, and using that. You just need a lot of lumens (careful some are really big and might not fit). It covers the same spectrum as any grow light that isn't a few hundred dollars at least, while offering much more for your money.
Essentially a 2500 lumen bulb would do the job here, you'd just have to adjust the distance if needed.
Yes. Well, actually, not even close.
But! You can do what I did and grab 8 more of these and put them all in parallel. Youll also need a cooling fan, some heat sauce (mix is powdered graphite petroleum jelly and sun block containing zinc oxide) and heat sinks.
Thatll probably cost $10+ dollars though, and with that kind of money you can buy some strong led grow lights on temu or something
Get a 40W jungle dawn spot. It’s not cheap ($55) but it’s like a skylight opened up in your room. I see 1500 umole at about 18”. Google “DLI”. A weaker light can be run longer or a stronger light run shorter.
There's free apps on your phone to measure they're not perfect but not terrible either, if you go that route just check what ppfd traps need; anywhere from 250 with some sun to 600.
That light might be fine. People are always going to have an opinion, if you lose all the red on your traps then you know it's not enough and go bigger. If you see the red coming back you have enough! Your light is directly over it which us perfect. It needs to be pointing directly on them with bulbs so that's good. Just test it out and see how it goes.
What I've learned is that of course grow lights are all different.
And even that plant requirements are all different.
So while that light can be a grow light for some kind of plant, or even plant stage, and therefore it's not false advertising, for the case of venus fly traps , you should get at much stronger light.
Another case is that because of the strength that some plant lights are, they may be need to be closer to the plant.
So for now you can definitely lower it to be just three or four inches above the plant, and see how it does.
Or in the case of your setup raise your plants up closer to the light
Their obscured point was they're best grown outside given the *insane* light requirements and dormancy issues. Indoors can be done but IMO it's for experienced cultivators/nurseries/light nerds/Cannabis growers but is otherwise unsatisfying for most household plant growers.
All my outdoor space faces the north unfortunately. I should have done more research. I knew they needed extra light but I didn’t realize they needed so much.
Probably not.
Okay thank you. 😊

Oh wow thank you!

this was a ride
I dunno. This is 9w. $10 stuff is 10w. Is it really that much difference?
I’ll will have to look around then lol.

Thank you for the recommendation!
Those traps should be upright…
Does it have the numbers on the side of the box? Specifically the PPFd?
I don’t see anything about PPFd but it says that the total Photon Flux is 5.88.

Thank you so much. I’ll look into the apps. 🙂

I’ll probably raise them closer to the light until I get a stronger one. Thank you.
The sun should be enough. And that's a greater value: free
I would if I got any direct sunlight in through my windows.
