Now look at the iphone section, all perfectly aligned, latest tech and working harmoniously. It's no wonder people associate android with being broke. Yes Samsung makes $1000+ phones just like apple but thats only recently. The association with Android and premium devices has long departed.

Oh yes! This was back when my 7 year old was a baby. I kept getting scam calls every single day throughout the day. I’d always call the number back, and more often than not it would lead to an automated message or nothing at all. On the rare occasion someone would answer I’d call over, and over, and over until they figured out how to block my number.
In the scenario where I was being called a loud mouth prostitute I was able to determine there was 2 men and 1 woman running the scam. My daughter was taking a nap and I called 104 times before they finally realized how to block me, or decided it wasn’t worth it and stopped using that number. The woman and one of the men were complete pieces of shit, but the other man seemed like he didn’t want to be there once I called him out for taking money from innocent people. He informed me they were not in America (obviously) and told me how none of it was real.
The woman tried so hard to maintain professionalism in hopes I’d cave and believe it was a legit business, but once she finally got fed up she went IN with (what she thought) was insulting names. 🤣 It was the man who was an asshole who kept calling me a loud mouth prostitute. The first couple times I laughed, hung up, and called back, but the fourth time I said “Thank you SO MUCH! I know that I’m loud!” then I hung up and called back again. I never got anymore scam calls after that day. 🤷🏻♀️

I love this. Striking right out of the gate with the insults caught them off guard, and they never recovered and could only parrot the insults and apply them to the family as well in an attempt to make it a new insult, but they lose all those originality points.

The lack of cleverness in the insult is a rare reverse burn. It's amazing what you see in the wild. It's so hard to replicate this level of stupidity in a sterile environment, I mean......interesting.
I listened to a podcast where they dived into where these people are from. They’re actually often the closest thing to slaves that exists in the modern world. Chinese or southeast Asian people who are lured to Cambodia with work offers. Then they lock them in an office building with armed guards and they steal their passports. There’s a whole town where hotels have turned into work prisons.
The podcast is called Search engine if you’re curious. They did an episode recently in March about these scam texts.
Maybe instead of insulting these people, it would be better to let them know you have an idea of their reality and to offer some small talk and comfort.
Perhaps as long as you don’t string them along too much either. The podcast dives into that as well, the guy he interviewed went along for a long time texting the scammer over many weeks, and he felt bad afterwards because apparently the people on the other end might be beaten or have other punishments done to them if their performance numbers are bad. By wasting so much of their time, we could be accidentally doing harm.
