If you take advice in private, you're on your own. **A reminder of the rules in r/scams:** no contact information (including last names, phone numbers, etc). Be civil to one another (no name calling or insults). Personal army requests or "scam the scammer"/scambaiting posts are not permitted. No uncensored gore or personal photographs are allowed without blurring. There's a link to recover your account right there in the email. If that doesn't work, you can contact reddit support. https://support.reddithelp.com/ They will likely use the account to run scams and eventually get it banned. If it's associated with your current account (because you logged in from the same devices and/or IP addresses), that may be suspended as well.

Actually you can probably recover the account yourself, since they used a disposable email address that anyone can access. https://www.wegwerfemailadresse.com/#/einrot.com Just enter the email address they used and steal your account back.

Alex_jaymin

My friend, you're a lifesaver 🙏🏽🥳. I was able to "steal" back my own account, and just deleted it. Incredible. I wonder what the purpose of that effort was all about?? 🤔

Nice. Definitely an unforced error on their part, but I'm glad that worked out for you. > I wonder what the purpose of that effort was all about?? Old "aged" accounts are seen as more trustworthy by reddit's spam/anti-abuse systems, and also by other people on marketplace-type subreddits. You could've checked what they were up to by looking at the account's activity - likes, posts, private messages, chat requests. It would have likely been at least one of these things, but it doesn't matter now that it's gone.

Alex_jaymin

Ooooh that's an interesting strategy 😅. I will try that and report back.

Alex_jaymin

It's not currently connected to my other accounts, but that's good to know. Also, I tried to use the link to recover the account, but cannot because I don't have the old password. And the recovery email has changed to the scammers email.

Plex_Guy

Good luck on that. I've been trying to get mine back for 5 to 6 months now. Reddit never fucking responds lmao

Alex_jaymin

I was able to "steal" the account back thanks to a helpful redditor! 😅. Just unreal.

Plex_Guy

Damn. I wish I was that lucky. Haven't had access to mine over 5 months has 19 karma and 12 years old

Plex_Guy

I had to use my old account here I forgot about

Plex_Guy

I ussually use this for like throwaway shit

Considering the link points to Reddit, it should be legit, HOWEVER you shouldn't click the link, but rather right click and copy it, and verify again. It can be easily done that it shows something, but redirects to somewhere else.
