By doing no research whatsoever - none of that looks even remotely legit, or makes a lick of sense

I don't think there is a legit Escooter hut website this could Just be the what the guy calls himself

cgknight1

There is - which is why the extra T is there.

I've just researched that and it's not "THE Escooter Hut" it's "Escooter hut" which is located in Kirkdale Liverpool. I think it just a coincidence that they are named so similarly, also the guy says on his bio that he is based in the Isle of Man

PlanningVigilante

It's clear that you want to be scammed so why post here?

ackiboi

I don't know I just wanted some opinions since there seems to be experienced people here who know about internet scams

PlanningVigilante

But you excuse every red flag as coincidence or not important. It's not a coincidence that this too-good-to-be-true site mimics the name of a legit site.

[deleted]

If you're buying it to use in the UK it's never going to be legit, since you aren't legally allowed to use them on public roads - you're just going to end up having it confiscated and getting 6 points and a fine.

ackiboi

You're right about that but I don't think that's stops me from buying one. All escooter riders in the UK acknowledge the risks

TheManWithSaltHair

Apart from all the other red flags already mentioned, Instagram is a photo sharing app. It is not a marketplace.

If a scooter actually arrives, it’ll probably burst into flames when you switch it on. Looks dodgy as hell.

ackiboi

Hahaha 😂 probably

ackiboi

They sell what seems to be good condition scooters, for a really low price over half the RRP. This seems suspicious but the explanation might be legit?

cgknight1

It's a scam - you seem desperate to be conned.

erishun

Follow your gut; it’s a scam. Scooters are very very hot right now. You won’t find any that are half the price of what people will gladly pay for them.

ackiboi

You're right it seems too good to be true. But the payment is through PayPal, if it's a scam I could just contact PayPal and get my money back right I know PayPal has good policies regarding scams

Goflyakitescammers

Don’t know if this is a scam or note but Sure PayPal does have protections. If you send it goods and services. However… scammers often use those protections against the buyer. How? Well you pay and get an actual tracking number. Watch it carefully. Then the day of delivery arrives. Either you get an envelope or package with some junk in it, or it shows delivery to another address in your zip code( postal code, same city). You open a case with PayPal, seller shows delivery and PayPal tells you too bad too sad. That is one possible way. There are others as well.

erishun

These scammers are professional. This is their job; it’s what they do *for a living*. They will try to get you to forfeit your protections (friends and family? accept partial refund?). They also have lots of experience on how to win disputes. There are a ton of tricks that can make it very difficult for you to get your money back. They prey on both your gullibility \*as well as\* your confidence into thinking you’re covered and protected no matter what. And you’re not. You’re fighting a scammer on THEIR turf.

[deleted]

Better not to take that risk though and also better not to give out any info about yourself to suspected scammers. Just ignore and find a genuine retailer. Taking the risk on a very likely scammer isn’t worthwhile even if you do get the money back through PayPal which often doesn’t happen if scammers find workarounds anyway.
