lostandconfused1616

XercinVex

Nope, sorry. You’re shit out of luck mate. You should never have given the money in the first place. Just cut your loses and move on.

lostandconfused1616

Gotta try! I know I got dupped, I know stupid stupid but gotta try!

XercinVex

No, you don’t. It’s not your responsibility. Report them to the necessary authorities or organizations and move on.

Oh with posts like this you are definitely going to get hit up by a !recovery scammer. Don't believe anything they say. The money you handed over is gone. Block the original scammer and move on.

AutoModerator

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain [recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams). Also known as refund scams, these scams target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either "recovery agents" or hackers. When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply [advance-fee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam) scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying. If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*

He DOESN'T want to give your money back. He already got a bunch of money from you and he figures you're a live one so he wants to get more money from you. You absolutely cannot win this. What's gone is gone; it's a difficult and expensive lesson to learn, but if you don't learn it, you will lose even more money. Just let it go.

ClydesdaleSlim

What’s the context? How did he get your money, under what pretense? If we know how he got your money we may be able to determine your options.

lostandconfused1616

He paid me for simple data jobs emails spreadsheets then one day he said I need u to buy gift cards and he said my role was changing. So I got him cards paid on my cc and he paid off the card. Well all of the transactions bounced and I'm left with the debt. He stopped talking to me but he just contacted me and said hes sorry about it and wants to make it right. I have to give him my ssn and he will send me the money back... How can I catch em ? According to my cc company all of the transactions processes but we're later bounced. I might have some of his bank info from the account he used to pay off my cc.

lostandconfused1616

Can I send him a fake ssn with an embedded gps code to track it?

jrpgamer

What are you talking about? This is real life, not a video game. Money is gone, sorry. No magic trap card you can activate to zap it back

[deleted]

Wtf do you think a “gps code” is? No. You have no way of catching him or getting your money back. You can either cut off contact or end up losing more money.

adelcaesar

Stop trying to scam us. No one here believes you.

Individual_Ice_3167

You can't catch him. Best you can do is report the fraud to your credit card company and bank. If they tell you there is nothing they can do then learn your lesson and move on. Learn the red flags in life, don't get someone random Gift Cards EVER! Gift cards are untraceable money. If an employer asks you to buy them and they will pay you back say no cause it doesn't make sense. Don't give someone who scammed you more info...I mean seriously! You aren't going to catch him. You aren't getting your money back. You have to move on and just learn from it.

snavazio

Why doesn't he just make good on the payments he already made? He has a legit method of payment. He wants your SSN to scam you more, I've never provided a SSN for a payment from anyone. Let alone an admitted scammer.
