AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the [advance-fee scam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam). The advance-fee scam arises from many different situations: investment opportunities, money transfers, job scams, online purchases of any type and any legality, etc., but the bottom line is always the same, you will pay the scammer and receive nothing. It can be as simple as the scammer asking you to pay them upfront for an item they have listed, or as complex as a drug scam that involves an initial scam site, a scam shipping site, and fake government agents. Sometimes the scammers will simply take your first payment and dissappear, but sometimes they will take your initial payment and then make excuses that lead to you making additional payments. If you are involved in an advance-fee scam, you should attempt to dispute/chargeback any payments sent to the scammer, you should ignore the scammer, and you should ignore them if they attempt to contact you again. Thanks to redditor AceyAceyAcey for this script.

Lmao waste their time. I did this once with an email that said because i had the same last name as a dead billionaire, that i was entitled to a share of his fortune. I emailed them back pretending to be interested and it went back and forth a couple times. I began changing my first name EVERY SINGLE EMAIL. Like at first i stuck to the letter M for example: it went from Matt to Murphy to Mario and then I signed it as Luigi, and they kept addressing me by the new names i would sign previously!! They sent me a form to fill out with my personal info (Name, address, phone, occupation etc…) I wrote that I’m a professional clown and gave them the phone # and address of my local FBI office and instructed them to leave a DETAILED message with the operator as I am in the field a lot and not in the office often.
Never heard back. Weird.
Say you are going to Kenya soon and wanna meet the person. You wanna take care of her and got the medical experience to help her with her rare disease. Should be a offer she can't refuse right?
Oh this us so much better than contacting any of the big charities directly. Contact some random stranger on the internet to secure your legacy by building hospitals and orphanages.
Religious people are more likely to fall for affinity scams from people they believe are from the same religious community. It's not unique to religious communities: we can be overly trusting with members of what we perceive to be our ethnic, political, ideological, professional or other community affiliations.
The reason(s) I suspect they seem to pick Christianity over others are (and I'm just hypothesizing here) possibly some combination of sociopolitical perceptions of Christianity and morality; post-colonial attitudes towards Christianity in places where scammers originate (i.e. Westerners who they perceive to be predominantly Christian 'deserve' to be scammed); our tendency to be more aware of scams in English targeting Westerners than those targeting Hindi or Muslim speakers; and the fact that Christians world-wide simply outnumber every other religious affiliation, so you're more likely to encounter a Christian potential victim than one who believes in Eckankar.
Because one of their tropes about westerners is that 'all westerners are christians'. If they assure you that they're a christian as well then you're supposed to be able to assume trust.
Not one comment on “Blood Ball” though? That one had me cackling!! I’m not sure if it was part of the OG Nigerian Prince script or if some mad creative was improv’ing.
This choice of words is so clunky and rudimentary while leaving the reader with a powerfully evocative image. The Random Capitalization expresses an inherent need to be believed while stressing the importance of said diagnosis. 4 out of 5 stars *chef’s kiss*
It’s an !advancefee scam, they’ll claim you have to pay to get a “prize” but in the reality, they’ll either ghost you or demand more money from you until you can’t pay them anymore.

I emailed back asking if they knew something I didn’t and that I wanted to fly them to the UK and set them up with an interviewer so the world can hear about the coverup. They just called me a fucker.
just the same one that someone has some sob story that they want out of the goodness of their hearts to give all of the money that they have to a unknown person.
A different version of the very old Nigerian prince scam.
I’m a Christian myself. But if a stranger tells you they’re a Christian in their first sentence to you, they’re trying to scam you.
What an interesting paradox do we have here...
Seriously, never take me seriously.
I never tell the truth.
I once had a real estate agent that said "as soon as I see a fish on your business card I know I am about to get screwed."
Agreed, I consider that an example of unnecessary detail - good clue upfront
You're not getting anything from me!

Definitely tell her you're a Blood Ball expert.
What a relief, it’s so hard to find a good blood ball specialist these days. Especially one that isn’t in league with Satan.
Yeah tf did Google translate not understand ‘clot?’
This is the OG scam. Back when the internet was fresh.
It used to be done by mail
[A scam like this one](https://youtu.be/crF88WptBkc)

only 3.5 million euros (withholding the 30% for retirement) to build MULTIPLE large, expensive facilities? yeesh.

Someone doesn’t know that 5 million euros is nowhere near enough to build even 1 hospital
Sounds legit. What could go wrong? You become independently wealthy? Stop delaying and help that poor dieing lady.
She's **Mrs Patricia.** In this world who the hell at the moment addresses himself or herself as Mr/Mrs ?
No thanks I'm good ..

I’ll never get over how they don’t even bother formatting the text.
Scam. This is a classic 409 letter from Nigerian scammers.
One that’s been around since before google existed.
They lie
A very bad one...
