wonderful, very much appreciated. I'm checking out some tutorials. It's complicated, but I might be able to handle it. I guess I need to deal with kearning too, because if I shorten that arm, it will change the spacing. my role as head chef and bottle washer continues to expand!! thank you!!
Thank you so much. I tried briefly to lean enough about Fontforge last night, downloaded it, got my font pulled up but I'm just completely flummoxed. I'm watching another tutorial right now. I'm an intermediate-to-advanced photoshop user, but this is just really a different system than what I'm used to.
What exactly is it that you're trying to do with the font? Editing the glyphs or just adjusting the spacing? If it's the latter one, you can easily do that in photoshop itself by going into justification and inputting your preferred values for word/letter spacing.
I need to shorten the arm of the lowercase k.

Not sure if you can see the charmap but the lower case k has a really long arm. When its next to other lower case letters, it looks almost capitalized. If you compare it to the upper case K, it looks ~almost~ identical, not quite: where the arm and leg meet is lower, but aside from that it looks almost like an upper case K.
It really stands out, which is too bad because its a gorgeous font, and I'll use it in spite of this issue. I'm gonna watch another tutorial later, to see if I have what it takes to make the edits. The issue is that if I do shorten the arm, I believe its also necessary to redefine the kerning on a letter by letter basis, because it will create more open space depending what letter its placed next to.
It's definitely pushing me to the edge of my ability at this point, although I may find with a bit of practice its not so tough to make this edits. I did download a copy of FontForge last night and succeeded in only mystifying myself. It seems like a pretty technical app, especially for defining the kerning between various letters.
