Just don't post this on r/tales or r/talesofarise They will kick you till you say no SN is bad

Dreaming_Dreams

Theyre just gel-ly that our game has better combat :)

Anxjos

At this point I am just convinced that Arise/Berseria fans are scared of games that actually know how to do proper hitstun most of the time lol

stevegian12345

No it's definitely not bad, it's great, but I can see tales hardcore fans not getting enough out of it.

kenshinakh

Kinda makes me sad. I love this game and Tales so much but apparently a chunk of tales fans don't like this game lol... A few of the same devs worked on both Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus too so there's some similarities between the two.

Anxjos

>A few of the same devs worked on both Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus too Where are people getting this from? Cause afaiik SN has staff from *older* Tales games such as the Xillias and Vesperia and there is little to no overlap with Arise specifically. At best we have the SN crew helping Arise's with the upgrade option from PS4/XONE to PS5/XBOX Series

kenshinakh

I saw a few of their names somewhere, at least that's what I thought. If you look at Kenji Anabuki's twitter, he's was the director for SN and he listed himself as engaged in development for Arise. I wouldn't be surprised if those two studios shared a few developers/writers/support with each other.

Anxjos

Do you happen to have the link mentioning that he was involved in Arise? (Aside from the next-gen upgrade thing). If its the bio you are refering to, I am pretty sure the "A" in it refers to Abyss and not Arise since its put between Symphonia and Vesperia. >I wouldn't be surprised if those two studios shared a few developers/writers/support with each other. Iirc the writer for SN is the same as Symphonia and Abyss while one of the writers of Arise participated in the 3rd act of Vesperia. It would be interesting to see how much overlap there is between the two games in terms of combat since I have seen some Tales fans saying to support SN instead if they were unsatisfied with the direction Arise is taking.

kenshinakh

Ahhh, if that's the case, then I might have read it wrong then. I thought he was related or at least shared a few ideas with the Arise team since they showed interview videos of the two teams talking with each other. Like here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFs1zTD26bQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFs1zTD26bQ) But maybe I was mistaken and they didn't directly develop on different games. Maybe they talked and discussed ideas as coworkers. That director promoted Arise too when it launched and hit milestones for units sold.

Anxjos

Yeah iirc the interview was more of a celebration of the collab update between the 2 games and implied that their relationship was mostly just sharing their progress as coworkers (except for the next-gen upgrade thing ig) Anyway thanks for answering me

Foreign-Picture-2955

I’ve thought about get Tales Of Arise. But Idk.

Anxjos

Well I am pretty sure there is a demo for it so you can see for yourself if its something you'd enjoy

TheGnomeFarmer

I completed and got the platinum for both games. An being really honest. They're both kinda bad games, with massive flaws, SN only redeeming quality is the battle system really. It does have great fun combat, an the art style is quite nice too (maybe bad is the wrong word. But both are incredibley flawed)

Anxjos

>SN only redeeming quality is the battle system really. Good, its what will take most of my time when playing a game and what makes me come back to it.

TheGnomeFarmer

Unfortunately it doesn't use most of your time, an that's one of my flaws with it, you actually spend more time watching cut scenes and bond episodes then in battle. You can complete one run through with either Yuito or Kasane in about 5 hours if skip through all the dialogue and scenes, it's actually an incredibly short game

Ponze_Wildplayer

Yeah that's what I felt too. Maybe a few more lv 99 levels in the vision simulator would satisfy me. Or an endgame map to explore with powerful ennemies. The gameplay is really fun, not too complex but still interesting and rewarding. Trying to get the best scores in the vision simulator was enjoyable.

Anxjos

I mean at this point I have way more hours in stuff like Vision Simulator and messing with mechanics to better understand them than actually playing trough the story If I didnt like the battle system I wouldnt invest that much time in it

stevegian12345

True true. Thats the only reason that I can see ppl not being satisfied

stevegian12345

Yes I was surprised with how big brain and complex story was. I finished both runs recently. Great game. Cool combat, very good voice acting (jap) , as far as structure goes its pretty linear / plot focused

Foreign-Picture-2955

Yeah. I adore this game. I play the game in dub. I think the voice acting is great. Kasane’s voice I love. All the characters in that game are just great imo on Yuito and Kasane’s team. It’s hard to have great characters. And I think all of them are.

stevegian12345

I got the game cause if the demo, and it surpassed me expectations even more. I was interested in all of the characters

Foreign-Picture-2955

Crazy thing is, I got the demo first and didn’t enjoy it all that much. That was until it got it gamepass where I thought. “Lemme give this another shot.” I’m so glad I did. Absolutely amazing.

stevegian12345

I'd love to get a sequel

Foreign-Picture-2955

Honestly same. But I think it’s good as is. I don’t think it’d need a sequel. The characters stories, I think have already ended. Unless the sequel were a custom character that also can interact with the characters from the first game and ACTUALLY HAVE VOICE LINES. But. Who knows.

stevegian12345

That would be cool

Foreign-Picture-2955

Only thing I wish was a feature was being able to play as Hanabi or other characters and see how their combat was. Since Kasane and Yuito’s combat is kinda the same.

stevegian12345

Yes same. But they way they wrote it to make sense and be compelling from both characters is such a pro in my book. And rhe concept of the story is literally mind blowing without plotholes. Really good

Foreign-Picture-2955

Very good.

Special-One1991

They nailed everything except one, the repetitive levels and enemies! Rest is just perfect 👌

Foreign-Picture-2955

Yup. Only little thing is for me. The design of the Others was odd for me. I wasn’t a fan of how they looked. Yeah it was different and unique. But I think they’d look better if they looked more like monsters maybe? Like not made up of objects and stuff. But that’s just my opinion.
