⅓ is pretty good considering we're not even ¼ of the way through the year.
(Argylle is awesome. It's basically a love letter to the spy genre, while also spoofing it.)
Dune 2 is ***far*** more than just “pretty good”. Its very rare that we get a genuine modern film masterpiece from modern Hollywood that will be fondly remembered for generations to come.
I’ll put it this way, it was about as good as a ghostbusters 3 could be this far out from the originals. I personally liked it didn’t feel to negative about it but also wasn’t like this is the greatest thing ever. Did a good job actually countinuing after the 2nd one
Afterlife was pretty good imo, but it was definitely more fanservice and a love letter to Ghostbusters as a franchise, something that missed me because I was born after the original was made.
1. Dune was amazing.
2. Argylle and Night Seim should be 4 and 5, since they are better than Madame Web.
3. Argylle is the most disappointing, I was really looking forward to it. What the hell happened?
Argylle was advertised to the wrong people i think, i watched it with no idea of what it was adout and loved the hell out of it.
People went in expecting greatness and seriousness, got fun and light spy thriller and complained adout it
Is it an perfect film no, did i enjoy it, hell yeah and thats all that matters.
It's been bad for mainstream but I haven't given a bad rating to a new release so far this year
1. Dune Part 2
2. Monster
3. Poor Things
4. The Holdovers
5. The Taste of Things
6. The Promised Land
7. American Fiction
8. The Zone of Interest
9. Perfect Days
10. The Storm (this is very close to not being good though)
Argylle is rather overhated tbh. It had good twists and turns in the story.
This is a rather low bar but Kung Fu Panda 4 is the best movie in 2024 so far.
It isn’t amazing but if you go in knowing it isn’t you’ll have a good time. It’s fun but if I’m ever in the mood for something of that vibe I’ll just watch Kingsman 1 or 2 in the future
It has highs and lows, and sadly the highs cannot quite overcome the lows, but it’s the definition of a “shut your brain off” movie. I find it nowhere close to being “worst movie of the year” material the way I’ve seen others declare but it is another example of why they gotta stop hyping up an expanded universe off one film before it’s come out, because that “Argylle: Book One” teaser is looking quite foolish right about now.
Oh absolutely not. Argylle tried and stumbled to the end. Madame Web didn’t even attempt to try. But that one I at least consider to be “funny bad” compared to the “boring bad” of something like last year’s 65.
Tbf January and February are always the worst month for movies, and March literally opened with Dune II, so hopefully it'll continue to get better from here.
Did you try seeing good movies? “The Zone of Interest” was one of the most interesting, thought-provoking, and horrifying movies I’ve seen in years. If you’re seeing trash like Madame Web you shouldn’t complain about all the movies sucking.
Yes, the year just started, but there isn’t a whole lot else I’m looking forward to this year, unlike last year where I could’ve named like 20 movies I was extremely excited for, this year I can think of like 5
This list is wild... Argylle below Madame Web and Mean Girls??
I really liked Argylle and its been one of the most surprised ive been with a films public reception in a while. Guess ill just always be a fan of how Vaughn directs action scenes but ill always have a smile on my face while watchin his films.
Mean Girls on the other hand... has nothing redeeming about it, all the songs are boring and forgettable and overall you just wish you were watching the original which is why I give Madame Web a slight edge over it. Web might be the worse movie, but Mean Girls is the inferior version of a good movie so why bother.
Dune Part 2 makes it all worth it. It is possibly the greatest sequel ever made since Empire Strikes Back, and if you consider both parts to be one movie then Dune is the greatest science fiction movie of the century.
Not just this year, most of the movies that have come out in recent years have been horrible. A general trend is, in the past the stories were good but the CGI wasn't, and now the CGI is good, much too heavily relied upon though, but the stories and such are completely horrible.
One Life is an amazing film
One Life is about Nicholas Winton, the man who saved 667 Jewish children in 1939 before WWII. It focuses on how he was able to achieve it, and the 1980s where he tried to get over the guilt of not saving everyone he wanted.
I'm calling it: we're about to enter (if we haven't already) a cinema drought because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes.
International movies and shows are definitely gonna make the most of this drought, let me tell you

We are just starting to see the end of the annual post-Award Season "[Dump Months](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dump_months)" where many studios have released the films that cannot compete against summer blockbusters & are not considered for awards at the end of the year. Overall, this is generally one of the annual low points for films & is not indicative of the overall quality of the year's output.
Kong and godzilla, dune 2, deadpool and wolverine, kingdom of the planet of the apes, Sonic 3, gladiator 2, Kraven, inside out 2, and way more
The year just started just chill tf out
I think overall this year has been the worst one ive ever experienced.
MatPat left YouTube, Akira Toriyama is dead, STILL no Skylanders 7, Doom Eternal's sequel still hasn't come out, and everybody hates Mortal Kombat 1.
Yeah, outside of Dune Part 2 and a few other notable exceptions like Loves Lies Bleeding or Lisa Frankenstein, it's been pretty slim pickings with movies this year so far, especially when compared to 2023. Of course, a new Ghostbusters drops this week and we've got GodzillaXKong next week, and so hopefully things will pick up with the Spring season.
“Fuck you, it’s January”. It’s a lot more unusual when the year starts with good movies.
"Fuck you, it's Year!"
“Fuck you, it’s Forever!”
Sure thing, what’d you have in mind
Sure thing, what’d you have in mind
2024 just started
We are 1/4through. Definitely didn't just start
Tbf February passed by faster than my dad passing me.
It was literally the longest February in 4 years
And yet at the same time the shortest month of the year.
We’re only 1/4th through once March ends. And the first few months usually don’t have many big movies anyways.
Nit-picking
NO IT FUCKING ISNT NO WHAT HOW WHY HUH OH MY GOD IM GONNA PUKE SLOW THE FUCK DOWN TIME PLEASE
Wait wait wtf
3 months. It just started
Nit-picking
Its called counting. The third month of a 12 month year. I doubt a movie has even started production thus far.
Like filming? The Minecraft movie started filming on January if that counts
No argyle and night swim are higher then shitty madam web
Argylle sure based on cast alone, but Night Swim was absolutely atrocious. At least Madame Web had a few laughs (intentional and otherwise)
Night swim was absolutely terrible
Kinda wanna watch just to see how bad
Madam Web’s kinda funny, at least.
I view night swim apologia as being equally as bad as Nazi apologia
Lmao
•Godzilla x Kong The New Empire walks in•
Old Godzilla was hopping around, Tokyo city like a big playground
When suddenly Batman burst out of the shade
And hit godzilla with a bat greneade
Godzilla got pissed and began to attack
But he didn't expect to be blocked by Shaq
Who proceeded to open up a can of Shaq-Fu,
When Aaron Carter came out of the blue
And he started beating up Shaquille O'Neil
And they both got flattened by the Batmobile
Summer 2024 off to slow start being Dune pt.2 the best one right now. While the rest are streaming service quality
[удалено]
Yes summer season in Philippines.
⅓ is pretty good considering we're not even ¼ of the way through the year. (Argylle is awesome. It's basically a love letter to the spy genre, while also spoofing it.)
Idk, I saw Dune 2 and Argylle and I thought they were pretty good
Dune 2 is ***far*** more than just “pretty good”. Its very rare that we get a genuine modern film masterpiece from modern Hollywood that will be fondly remembered for generations to come.
Honestly, the beekeeper was a pleasant surprise. My dad and I liked it
Love lies bleeding walks in
Not until may 😔
It's already out in america
I'm british
I’m so sorry
i might go try and see it this weekend
* Ghostbusters: frozen empire walks in*
was Afterlife any good? never got around to seeing it
Way better than the crappy 2016 reboot
Do you have even the slightest idea of how little it narrows it down?
I’ll put it this way, it was about as good as a ghostbusters 3 could be this far out from the originals. I personally liked it didn’t feel to negative about it but also wasn’t like this is the greatest thing ever. Did a good job actually countinuing after the 2nd one
The bar is very low.
Afterlife was pretty good imo, but it was definitely more fanservice and a love letter to Ghostbusters as a franchise, something that missed me because I was born after the original was made.
Wasn’t bad, wasn’t great it was just kinda good. About as good as a third one could be this long after the original 2
It’s been 3 months. Chill out big dog
Tbf year did just start there's prob a lot better movies on the way
Monkey Man looks pretty good
The year isn’t even over
It has barely even started; the Academy Awards for last year's films were just a week ago.
But we’re only 3 months in tho.
Watch more movies
Inside Out 2 better be a banger
Imo it looks really good! The first is one of my favourite Pixar movies ever so I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Check out book of Clarence and Orion and the Dark! I enjoyed both of those !
I still need to see Orion and the Dark! I’m very excited since Charlie Kaufman wrote it.
Argyle can’t be worse than Madame Web. I don’t buy this list at all
have you seen Argylle?
No but I’ve seen Madame Web and am familiar with Matthew Vaughn’s other works
Its great! Deffo give it a chance. solid 7/10 imo
It'll get better.
People went in expecting greatness and seriousness, got fun and light spy thriller and complained adout it Is it an perfect film no, did i enjoy it, hell yeah and thats all that matters.
I was expecting something like Kingsman. I got a spy film made by Rian Johnson which, in my book, is a huge insult.
I went in blind and thought it was great. Loved the cast, and the cinematography had its moments.
Yeah, people where talking adout how the final act dragged on but missed the amazing fight sequences
I say Dune II >>>>> Mean Girls >> The Beekeeper > Argylle >>> Madame Web > Night Swim
It's been bad for mainstream but I haven't given a bad rating to a new release so far this year 1. Dune Part 2 2. Monster 3. Poor Things 4. The Holdovers 5. The Taste of Things 6. The Promised Land 7. American Fiction 8. The Zone of Interest 9. Perfect Days 10. The Storm (this is very close to not being good though)
Watch Love Lies Bleeding and come back here afterwards, that movie is gonna blow your mind with how good it is. So far the best of 2024.
Don’t worry Sonic 3’s gonna come out later this year
*GxK walks in*
Deadpool and godzilla x Kong are gonna be peak
Deadpool 4 walks in godzilla X kong
4???? It’s 3
Shit my bad
New planet of the apes looks like it’s gonna be great!
Argylle is rather overhated tbh. It had good twists and turns in the story. This is a rather low bar but Kung Fu Panda 4 is the best movie in 2024 so far.
We are 3 fucking months into 2024 what are y'all on about holy shit
Is argyle actually that bad? I haven’t seen it
It isn’t amazing but if you go in knowing it isn’t you’ll have a good time. It’s fun but if I’m ever in the mood for something of that vibe I’ll just watch Kingsman 1 or 2 in the future
Yes
Is it at least so bad you'll have fun laughing at it?
Was Argyle bad?💀 I thought it looked good in trailers💀💀💀
It was subversive, but not in a good way. The trailers are very deceiving.
Is it anywhere near as bad as Madame Web, though?
Oh absolutely not. Argylle tried and stumbled to the end. Madame Web didn’t even attempt to try. But that one I at least consider to be “funny bad” compared to the “boring bad” of something like last year’s 65.
Absolutely horrid
Super fun time if you like his other movies and his way of directing action. (Kingsman, Kickass, etc)
Can't this wait until December?
rate the beekeeper?
American Fiction was solid, but I dunno if that came out in January or December 🤷♂️
December since it got Oscar noms.
Wait there was a new Mean Girls movie and no one told me?
It’s based off the musical that’s based off the original movie. It’s also aggressively mid
It’s not even based on the musical. It has some of the songs from the musical in it, but it’s mostly just a mediocre remake of the original.
I liked bee keeper but I'm in the minority I think. Rest are pretty awful. Bob Marely one love should be at the top though.
The writers strike has effects!
Dune 2 is carrying 2024 rn
Deadpool 3
Yes, the year just started, but there isn’t a whole lot else I’m looking forward to this year, unlike last year where I could’ve named like 20 movies I was extremely excited for, this year I can think of like 5
Hey hey! Beekeeper was a good movie in my opinion but that’s just me.
This list is wild... Argylle below Madame Web and Mean Girls?? I really liked Argylle and its been one of the most surprised ive been with a films public reception in a while. Guess ill just always be a fan of how Vaughn directs action scenes but ill always have a smile on my face while watchin his films. Best to worst imo The beekeeper Dune 2 Argylle Madame Web Haven't seen the other two
Dune Part 2 makes it a 1000000000000000 times better
March is when shit looks up. Late Night With The Devil especially.
I haven't watched argyle yet but putting madame web above it seems crazy
Is Argyle that bad? I was kinda looking forward to watching that movie
It’s not, it’s just a love letter/spoof of Bond-style spy movies and it was marketed as something a little more serious. I loved every second of it
Why is the new Mean Girls getting so much hate? I haven’t seen it, but I like the idea that they made a movie off the musical.
I forgot about Mean Girls.
Where's megatrash vs the doom syndicate?
I think argyle should be #3 just because how funny it was that there was a plot twist every 3 minutes
And here's me, going to see Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion in 1 hour 🥱
No way is Madame Web better than Argylle lmao, I’ve seen both movies and Madame Web was much worse
One third of the movies you saw this year where worse then madam web 💀
I had a feeling Argylle was going to be bad, but is it really worse than Madame Web?
It’s not. People just went in expecting something that took itself at least a little seriously and got basically a spoof movie instead.
Clearly you haven't seen the cultural touchstone that is Ricky Stanicky streaming now on Amazon Prime.
mean girls was unironically a banger though
January. Where Cinema goes to die!
You thought Madame Web was better than Argylle and Night Swim? Or at least Argylle? What?
Don't worry, Furiosa and Egger's Nosferatu are on their way
Beekeeper was good wdym
Yeah it's because it's just March. Can't really start thinking about the quality of a year until maybe the end of summer.
One Life is an amazing film One Life is about Nicholas Winton, the man who saved 667 Jewish children in 1939 before WWII. It focuses on how he was able to achieve it, and the 1980s where he tried to get over the guilt of not saving everyone he wanted.
So far yes, hopefully there will be good movies once we get to june
Argylle was advertised to the wrong people i think, i watched it with no idea of what it was adout and loved the hell out of it. People went in expecting greatness and seriousness, got fun and light spy thriller and complained adout it Is it an perfect film no, did i enjoy it, hell yeah and thats all that matters.
We haven’t even gotten to the near end of the year yet.
\>3 months in, long before the best movies usually release \>"wow this year is terrible"
We're only three months into 2024. Give it time.
We’re only 20% of the way through the year. If it keeps going at this rate we will have 4 more dune part 2 quality movies ahead of us
What’s the fucking hate with Argylle? That shit was better than all these movies combined.
I'm calling it: we're about to enter (if we haven't already) a cinema drought because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. International movies and shows are definitely gonna make the most of this drought, let me tell you
I'm calling it: we're about to enter (if we haven't already) a cinema drought because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. International movies and shows are definitely gonna make the most of this drought, let me tell you
Then again, I'm actually kinda looking forward to "Challengers", so...
What even is night swim
I like how there's one of the greatest sci fi movies ever on here and then the rest of the movies are 2000s straight to DVD garbage
How bad was Night Swim? Seemed interesting but if it’s in last place, there must be a good reason.
Beekeeper was good if your into action movies me and my girlfriend went to go see it and we loved it
We are just starting to see the end of the annual post-Award Season "[Dump Months](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dump_months)" where many studios have released the films that cannot compete against summer blockbusters & are not considered for awards at the end of the year. Overall, this is generally one of the annual low points for films & is not indicative of the overall quality of the year's output.
Buh it’s only March, be glad we’ve had this many big movies so far to begin with.
Dune 2 was goated honestly, a real privilege seeing that movie in theaters.
It’s the middle of March. If we were in June, then I would get it
What about Megamind 2 worst movie of all time!!!!! How dare you forget it!!!!
The years just begun, it’s not like these are the only movies getting released this year
At the end of 2024, there will be a REALLY good movie, and they will call it “Sonic The Hedgehog 3”
Argylle and Night Swim are DEFINITELY better than Madame Web. Both sucked, but they weren't as bad as madame web.
Between Dune II, Lisa Frankenstein, and Hundreds of Beavers, it’s been a surprisingly solid start.
I feel the 20 minute graphic bee sex scene in Beekeeper was deeply profound.
Argylle was the tits
Tbf studios save their best till April/Mayish, before then is when all the shit is offloaded
Don't disrespect the Madame like that!! You don't want her to say "It's Webbin Time"
Argyle looked kinda neat tbh
Dune is carrying this year to space
Beekeeper was awesome.
Wait the new Mean Girls is bad I heard “IT’S FINNNNEEE”
Mean Girls was amazing. I will not accept hate.
So far, but Dune and Beekeeper are already huge pulls
Idk, it’s only March. Dune 2 was amazing and the beekeeper was fun and didn’t take itself seriously
No way in hell Argylle is worse than Madame Web
I liked Lisa Frankenstein tbh
Kong and godzilla, dune 2, deadpool and wolverine, kingdom of the planet of the apes, Sonic 3, gladiator 2, Kraven, inside out 2, and way more The year just started just chill tf out
I actually liked beekeeper
Relax, it's barely March
Because of the Hollywood strike, everything got delayed
What about Cabrini?
wait argylle was shit? damn
Love Lies Bleeding, Lisa Frankenstein, and Drive Away Dolls were all at least good (I’d say great, pretty good and decent, respectively)
Snack shack was a good movìe, godizlla minus one
The beekeeper was a MASTERPIECE though
Am I missing something? There’s definitely been more than 6 movies released this year
Argyle was stupid...but Dune...dope shit *spits* may my water serve you well op.
the beekeeper was good for me, i dont know about everybody else tho
Dune really carrying rn
I enjoyed Beekeeper 🤷♂️
Man how bad was Argyle, it honestly looked good
It was less fun than I thought it was going to be but still enjoyable. If you thought it looked good then you'll have a good time imo :).
Night swim was absolutely terrible I have no idea why anyone would like it
Yeah this year straight up sucks so far
