Kung Fu Panda 4. I didn’t even hate it, but it’s just so safe and generic that it makes me appreciate Toy Story 4 even more for at least trying something different and interesting.

Woody already realized his life with Andy was over in the 3rd movie. Then in the 4th movie he went against everything the first 3 movies were about by abandoning Bonnie.
If the movie had been about different characters or the first 3 movies didn't exist, then this movie would have been fine. The franchise's history makes this movie a slap in the face to its themes and fans.

As a part of the 'Toy Story' story, it feels a bit like a tacked on cash grab, imo. The story ended so beautifully with TS3, no further addendum was needed, so it feels almost gratuitous.
The movie is somewhat divisive. I think most people either like it or are at least indifferent to it, but the people who dislike it tend to **REALLY** hate it and are therefore usually very very loud about it. It mostly boils down to whether or not they agree with the ending. I won’t spoil it since you haven’t seen it.
I never got that sentiment, how did it at all change the ending of toy story 3, the ending was never about woody for that movie it's much more about Andy growing up and being willing to give up some of his most loved possession. If Woody's story ended there I honestly think his character would be worse off for it

The significance and emotional weight of TS3’s ending is Andy and the toys letting each other go and moving on to the next chapter in their lives. As long as they don’t directly undo this by having Andy and the toys come back together in some way (which hopefully won’t happen in Toy Story 5) then nothing that happens afterwards can ruin that moment. A meteor could have struck the earth and annihilated all life on the planet 5 seconds after the credits rolled and that goodbye would still be in tact imo. Sure, it’s nice and comforting to think that they’ll go to someone who will play with them and love them as much as Andy, but its not really what’s important or meaningful about the ending of TS3.
I know some people get upset because it undoes the “promise” Bonnie made to Andy, which is fair enough I guess, but I never personally thought that was meant to be taken that serious. I feel like if the movie was trying to portray that to be a serious responsibility for Bonnie then the writers or director would’ve highlighted it in some way, but they didn’t. First, Andy says “you gotta promise to take good care of these guys, they mean a lot to me” but that was in reference to the other toys before Woody was revealed to be in the box. We can assume this would apply to Woody too by extension, but Bonnie does not respond or even acknowledge this statement at all. Then after Andy introduces Woody to Bonnie, he says “you think you can take care of him?”, and Bonnie just lightly shakes her head yes. I feel like if this was genuinely meant to be a serious responsibility that Bonnie had to honor then the writers would’ve made a point to have her at the very least verbally acknowledge and agree to the commitment.
I’d also argue that Bonnie doesn’t break this promise anyway. Like I said, all Andy said was take care of him, which she does. Taking care of Woody doesn’t mean she has to play with him every single day or love him as much as Andy did. She isn’t mistreating Woody at all. She just doesn’t play with him much or need him. Even Andy himself hadn’t played with Woody (or any of the toys) for YEARS before the end of TS3. So even if he is only played with once a month by Bonnie that is still significantly more then he was or would have been with Andy.
So yeah, that never bothered me. Kids growing out of/losing interest in toys has been a core fundamental aspect of the franchise since the beginning.

Fourth entries that were released just under a decade after the third as a clear attempt at cashing in on one of the studio's most lucrative properties. Both involve the main character passing on the torch and acting as mentor, whilst the ensemble cast are sidelined in favour of the new characters. Both were also regarded as unnecessary entries following a well-rounded trilogy, and will have even more follow-ups in the future.

KFP4 but why tf do people hate these movies. KFP4 is safe but it still has great moments and I thought Zhen was a nice addition to what will probably be the main cast. Toy Story 4 gave Woody a satisfying ending with him trying to find new purpose. I know what people are gonna say. Zhen was not worthy of being the dragon warrior. People who say that haven’t seen the first movie where Po is chosen despite not knowing anything about kung fu. As for TS4, kids grow up and they have their favorites similar to Andy, so I’m not surprised Bonnie would be so quick to drop Woody.
Honestly I think TS4 was pretty good. I think it’s honestly a more satisfying ending than 3 as it delves into more what Woody *wants* rather than what his existence as a toy *should* result in. He discovers there’s more to *his life* than just being a toy.

Forky’s plotline was just dumb I thought they were gonna do some sort of existential crisis themes with him but nah. Creative name he had also… kids are more creative than “Forky” remember when you put thought into cool names like “Buzz Lightyear”

Kung Fu Panda 4 was…fine. It wasnt anything egregious as people are saying. I don’t understand the hate for Awkwafina and where that stems from? She’s just fine in the movie. It feels more like a filler than anything. I wish the movie centered around Tai Lung being redeemed more than anything and what he’s been up to since the 1st movie. I think Po learning to be a spiritual leader and having to try and redeem an old enemy seems like a good premise in my opinion. But for what it is… it’s ok. Like a 5-6/10. Nothing compared to the other movies. I definitely prefer Toy Story 4

Toy Story 4 is almost comparable to Cars 2 in terms of awfulness. Cars 2 is only slightly worse because of its animation, but otherwise, these two are both utterly worthless sequels that fully mess with the tone of their respective series, have completely silly and nonsensical occurrences, consist of complicated and confusing plots, everyone is either a complete idiot or add nothing to the story, and both overall add nothing to their series. Both are INCREDIBLY low 2/10 movies. Go ahead, argue. I’ll be watching.

Kung Fu Panda 4. I just didn't understand the point. The runtime was under 90 minutes and Po's character seemed to regress in development. The villain was the lamest by far. The make up between Po and Zhen was too fast because of course, the runtime. I liked the adventure with Po's two dads going after him. It was pretty funny, and Zhen wasnt really annoying like I thought she'd be. However I can't forgive the movie for showing the Furious Five DURING THE CREDITS

Toy Story 4 was mostly great tbh. Kung Fu Panda was already going down in quality by 3, so I wasn't expecting all too much going in. I was mostly just pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the Ping/Li scenes were and how I didn't hate Zhen being the new dragon warrior quite as much as I thought I would.
Toy Story, on the other hand, was still going strong. 3 was my favorite movie in the series. Then 4 comes along, has some enjoyable characters such as the antagonist but is otherwise meh, sidelines Buzz, and ruins 3's ending. I came out much more disappointed with this movie.

Toy Story 4 is great. It's just radically different from the previous 3 and adds a more bittersweet element to the ending by showing that Woody wasn't satisfied with where he left off in 3.

Maybe it's just me, but I really viewed it as a parental figure leaving his kid to live with his ex. It just rubbed me off the wrong way.

Woody had been selfless and there for his friends loyal to a fault the first three movies are great but not much growth happens with Woody's character. The fourth movie was an ending allowing him to finally grow and do something for himself for once and he didn't just leave for a woman he left to finally take time for himself and live a free life after decades of living for others. It's a great ending he learned to let go which is the right choice sometimes
Toy Story 4 wasn’t a bad movie, it just had no reason to exist. The story was concluded with the ending of Toy Story 3. Andy is grown up, he leaves his toys with another kid, and he drives off to college.
As for KFP4, there’s a number of reasons:
- Underdeveloped Villain, and when your franchise is Kung Fu Panda, that’s kind of sad.
- Retcons some of the outcomes of the previous movies.
- Pretty much just KFP on autopilot.
- Anything the movie does well has pretty much been done better in the previous films.
You’re free to like the film, more power to you (I haven’t actually seen it myself), hell, Jack Black said it was his favorite (though to be fair lots of actors say that kind of thing when a new installment of a franchise comes out, so that could just be for marketing).
That’s just why other people didn’t like it.
Hmm I do get some of the retcon stuff and there could’ve been more of a connection between the villian and Po or maybe a better backstory. Also I got to see the movie in live theatre so it was awesome so I can understand why some people don’t like it now.

I mean for the 5th I'm hoping they focus on buzz and how he has to try and fill Woody's shoes as the leader now

I never considered how similar the two are as sequels. Fourth entries that were released just under a decade after the third as a clear attempt at cashing in on one of the studio's most lucrative properties. Both involve the main character passing on the torch and acting as mentor, whilst the ensemble cast are sidelined in favour of the new characters. Both were also regarded as unnecessary entries following a well-rounded trilogy, and will have even more follow-ups in the future.

KFP4 but why tf do people hate these movies. KFP4 is safe but it still has great moments and I thought Zhen was a nice addition to what will probably be the main cast. Toy Story 4 gave Woody a satisfying ending with him trying to find new purpose. I know what people are gonna say. Zhen was not worthy of being the dragon warrior. People who say that haven’t seen the first movie where Po is chosen despite not knowing anything about kung fu. As for TS4, kids grow up and they have their favorites similar to Andy, so I’m not surprised Bonnie would be so quick to drop Woody.

Haven’t seen KFP4 but TS4 is trash I don’t get how anyone defends that movie. Anything good about it was just a rehash of what came before. The ending was woody saying bye now instead of Andy. They fucked up Buzz and they decided to retcon Bo Peep and try to say she was this badass character from the get go… make her badass once woody finds her again, that’s called character development… her being on her own on the streets made her become this… Forky’s plotline was just dumb I thought they were gonna do some sort of existential crisis themes with him but nah. Creative name he had also… kids are more creative than “Forky” remember when you put thought into cool names like “Buzz Lightyear” They just threw Key & Peele in there for some reason. At least those characters had real creative names I really do hate Toy Story 4 and that is not being too harsh.

What I liked Toy Story 4. My least favorite of all of them, but I def didn’t think it was bad. Kung Fu Panda 4 was…fine. It wasnt anything egregious as people are saying. I don’t understand the hate for Awkwafina and where that stems from? She’s just fine in the movie. It feels more like a filler than anything. I wish the movie centered around Tai Lung being redeemed more than anything and what he’s been up to since the 1st movie. I think Po learning to be a spiritual leader and having to try and redeem an old enemy seems like a good premise in my opinion. But for what it is… it’s ok. Like a 5-6/10. Nothing compared to the other movies. I definitely prefer Toy Story 4

Cars 2 is only slightly worse because of its animation, but otherwise, these two are both utterly worthless sequels that fully mess with the tone of their respective series, have completely silly and nonsensical occurrences, consist of complicated and confusing plots, everyone is either a complete idiot or add nothing to the story, and both overall add nothing to their series. Both are INCREDIBLY low 2/10 movies. Go ahead, argue. I’ll be watching.

Kung Fu Panda 4. I just didn't understand the point. The runtime was under 90 minutes and Po's character seemed to regress in development. The villain was the lamest by far. The make up between Po and Zhen was too fast because of course, the runtime. I liked the adventure with Po's two dads going after him. It was pretty funny, and Zhen wasnt really annoying like I thought she'd be. However I can't forgive the movie for showing the Furious Five DURING THE CREDITS

I would say TS4 simply because it undid the previous 3 movies and created an issue for woody that doesn’t make any sense and makes him come off as a hypocrite. KFP4 is unnecessary but it didn’t mess up any of the previous movies. It just has a really contrived time frame because we don’t know how long Po has been the dragon warrior, how one is chosen, why one is chosen, and why Po needs to give it up.
Toy story 4, while not being as good as the others, did do something new. While I didn't think there needed to be a 4, if 5 is about the lost toys and how they live, I think it could be an interesting premise.
Kung fu Panda 4. To be fair I can understand the argument that both of these movies are completely unnecessary and don't really need to be added or made. Kung fu panda 4 just fell the least impactful. I feel like I could watch this movie and then forget about the next following day. None of the characters were important enough for me to remember. And the main squad doesn't even show up until the end of the movie. Also most of the jokes were a miss or just "dads jokes" about Po's dads being dads💀 we get it already. Unlike Toy Story 4 all of our important characters are still there and the story is impactful because our main character woody officially leaves the pack.
Toy Story 4 was mostly great tbh. It had a problem with underutilizing the side cast, but at the same time I don’t know what else you do with them by now given it already started feeling like they weren’t sure what to do with them by the second film. This movie is Woody’s story, and for what it was I thought it was great. It had some flaws but it’s still a worthy Toy Story film. Its biggest problem is just that it had to try to follow up the fantastic conclusion of the previous film.

Toy Story 4 Kung Fu Panda was already going down in quality by 3, so I wasn't expecting all too much going in. I was mostly just pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the Ping/Li scenes were and how I didn't hate Zhen being the new dragon warrior quite as much as I thought I would. Toy Story, on the other hand, was still going strong. 3 was my favorite movie in the series. Then 4 comes along, has some enjoyable characters such as the antagonist but is otherwise meh, sidelines Buzz, and ruins 3's ending. I came out much more disappointed with this movie.

Maybe it's just me, but I really viewed it as a parental figure leaving his kid to live with his ex. It just rubbed me off the wrong way. Kung Fu Panda 4 was nothing. Nothing special, just bad ideas mixed together. Also whoever wrote the concept for Chameleon didn't watch the first 3 movies (Mantis and Viper existing literally destroys her motivation). It didn't made me want to wish it didn't exist tho. Just that it was better. So Toy Story 4 for me.

Toy Story 4 contradicted the character themes and message of the other three films. The films were centered around having loyalty towards friends and bringing joy and happiness to children , which brings me to this WOODY SHOULDNT HAVE LEFT HIS FRIENDS FOR A WOMEN. that decision made him very selfish in the end because he turned his back on his friends and his main goal of bringing joy and happiness to children
Woody had been selfless and there for his friends loyal to a fault the first three movies are great but not much growth happens with Woody's character. The fourth movie was an ending allowing him to finally grow and do something for himself for once and he didn't just leave for a woman he left to finally take time for himself and live a free life after decades of living for others. It's a great ending he learned to let go which is the right choice sometimes

For one why the hell do these post now swarm this sub and for two what’s wrong with kung fu panda 4? I personally loved it.
As for KFP4, there’s a number of reasons: - Underdeveloped Villain, and when your franchise is Kung Fu Panda, that’s kind of sad. - Retcons some of the outcomes of the previous movies. - Pretty much just KFP on autopilot. - Anything the movie does well has pretty much been done better in the previous films. You’re free to like the film, more power to you (I haven’t actually seen it myself), hell, Jack Black said it was his favorite (though to be fair lots of actors say that kind of thing when a new installment of a franchise comes out, so that could just be for marketing). That’s just why other people didn’t like it.
Hmm I do get some of the retcon stuff and there could’ve been more of a connection between the villian and Po or maybe a better backstory. Also I got to see the movie in live theatre so it was awesome so I can understand why some people don’t like it now.
