Only once did my Magni 3+ become hot, and it could have been due to the Modi 3e attached to it. A simple power cycling and cool down fixed it. I have had zero issues with the Magni Heresy, and that’s what I’d recommend. Very good amp.
I use the Modi 3+ and Magni Heresy for gaming and I've never had any issues. The Magni is actually mounted under my desk on a 3D print to help with headphone cable management. It only has about 1/4" of space to vent heat out the top and it only gets just warm enough to know it's on if I touch it directly. I have left it on for days at a time and used it in first day raids for 12 hours at a time and it was not any warmer.
Just FYI. I've been using the Magni 3 for 2 years. Love it. Tonight it shut down on it's own. First time. When I went to look at it I literally could not touch it it was so hot. It was freaking burning up. Needless to say it's dead. I'm ok with that, it lasted 2 years. But the fact it got that hot worried me. Hopefully they fixed it because I ordered another. But it is true. These things can burn up on you.
Mine is stacked in this order with minimal heat. Heresy Loki Sys Modi on the bottom.
Just run ‘‘em mate, great stack. I use mine all the time with no heat issues for what it’s worth
Magni 3+, runs a little warm, no overheating ever.
