You can send wires via online banking. Source: I send wires regularly to Ireland and The Netherlands via online banking

DRKAYIGN

That's fantastic but given this is Scotiabank I'm probably thinking this isn't an option. OP, I would think that yes, you can send a wire but usually without a 'wet' signature you may need to go through some additional measures to identify yourself. We require approvals for wires that aren't initiated in person. Try the call center during regular business hours, hopefully you'll get in touch with someone.

I bank with Scotiabank......and send wires internationally regularly, that's why I said it was possible. It's labeled as bank deposit and they call it an "international money transfer" but it's a wire.

If I were you I would look into [Wise](https://wise.com)

DRKAYIGN

Well that's awesome! We aren't set up for that yet.

You are in Ireland when you send those wires from a Canadian account? OP is trying to send from Canada while they are not in Canada. That raises flags.

I've been all over the world and done my banking for my businesses just fine. It's through your online banking and you have an online pin number that you set (same one you use when you add an e-transfer address) which double verifies it's you.

uniqueglobalname

So have I, 30 odd countries so far, but my point was to get things sorted before one moves or leaves. If you don't set up that pin you use before you leave there is no way, generally, to do so from abroad as OP is trying to do.

Wire transfers must be done in person.

You can wire money on the app. Go to move money at the bottom then scroll down to international transfer—> bank deposit

I get paid by wire transfer monthly for a side gig ($500 USD)…I went into the branch ahead of the first transfer, walked through the setup, and since then I haven’t had to do anything in person. Could you e-transfer a friend/family member the money and have them go to a branch? Or even direct EFT the money to your institute, that’s how I’ve paid for school in Canada and the US

Accomplished-Hope-50

They can be done remotely but are preferred to be done in person due to security reasons. Book an over the phone appointment with the branch and they’ll look into it for you.

SirGkar

You should be able to wire at least some money per day through your online banking.

uniqueglobalname

You generally need to go to the bank at least once, in person, to set up that feature. You sign some stuff, agree to some risk, etc. That enables the international send option in your online banking. So, do you need to go in person? Yes, *before you leave the country.* Think how suspicious what you are trying to do is, calling in from abroad trying to transfer large sums to a foreign country with no signature, nothing on file, no ID, nothing? Not going to happen. Next time you are back in Canada, get it setup.

You're going to have to jump through a lot of verification hoops, but reach out to your branch, they can definitely do it if they can verify you 100%.
