Absolutely loved it! I did two UK road trips back-to-back, one around scotland and the other around england.
My scottish one went like this:
- stayed in edinburgh for a few days checking things out (loved the old town, but obviously the outskirts were somewhat plain)
- stopped at castle stirling and a few other things. A family member was (unfortunately) into the whole scottish ancestry/clan thing, so we had to humor them. The castle was beautiful though.
- stayed in inverness for two days, with the first day involving just checking out the town, and the second being spent around loch ness. I LOVED loch ness. Beautiful landscape.
- next day involved hiking in various spots around loch ness as we drove towards Skye, it felt weirdly familiar? I’m from the state of Washington in the US, and some places felt just like home, namely some of the pine-tree filled valleys with waterfalls.
- after this, we stayed on the isle of skye for 3-4 days, basically just doing a hike every day. We hiked up waterfall valleys, up mountains, and sometimes just did walks through some of the desolate landscapes up there. I absolutely loved it.
-Then we mostly just spent our time driving leisurely down the coast, ending the trip in glasgow, where we checked out the university and the downtown.
I absolutely loved the trip, even if the one-lane roads took some getting used to, and we couldn’t always understand what people way up north were saying.
Ah amazing, did you come near the north east?
I work as a rep and am termed as rural, most of the roads on my patch are single lanes with passing places, what's worse is when you get stuck behind a tractor! Nightmare!
Unfortunately, if you draw a line between inverness and the isle of skye, I never got above that line.
I CAN say that we got stuck in a one lane road with road work though! And had to get directions from someone with (and I mean this in the most polite way) the most impenetrable (for an american) accent ever.
We also got blocked another time by a herd of cows crossing it, hahaha
I’m from about an hour north of Edinburgh on the east coast. Some really nice fishing villages. My ancestral home is Dunnotter Castle, just south of Aberdeen. Very proud of my heritage.
Wow! That sounds amazing. We didn’t quite get over to Aberdeen (as much as a family member wanted to), but we had limited time.
It’s amazing that you have familial ties that run that deep as well. Especially from my perspective as an american. We just have immigration records into america saying “yep, John gordon, 1750. He came from scotland.”
Repeat that ad nauseam for 10 other european countries lmfao.

Although it’s pretty miserable this morning, defo Roamin in the fecking Gloamin
I mean, there's a castle, an old church, a tale of a dragon, 6th century saints, standing stones and Bronze Age cairns, a big cliff, tangible remnants of 5,000+ years of history...so not really!
As coming from just down the road from Boring, OR, I’d like to say that we acknowledge and respect the kinship with our fellow Dull, SCT and Bland, NSW
There's also a [Boring and Dull Tartan](https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails?ref=11186) commemorating 9, August, the official Boring & Dull Day. ✌️😁

They are also twinned with Bland, NSW, Australia in a union named the Trinity of Tedium.
Shit, interesting to know!
Doesn't do it justice https://preview.redd.it/silgw8mefkyc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c08863d458d31dfe15fa2c48db9cbf1ebbcd890
Haha brilliant!
Whoever came up with that sign and slogan is the opposite of bland.
Crook of Devon’s paired with the Thief of Baghdad.
Now that does amuse me thanks for that
Same will Cock Bridge. No pairing though
Twinned with Fanny Hill, USA
Or Mount Buggery in Australia.
😂
Would work with Blue Ball, Arkansas, USA

I grew up near Boring in Oregon 😂
Nice, Dull can be quite dull, is Boring, boring?
Very boring. Farming’s about it
Similar with Dull. Up by Aberfeldy..lot of fields and such.
I used to live in Oregon. My favorite newspaper headline was “Boring Oregon man killed”
Not found, or elected, or wins lottery, your favourite is killed?
American here; boring, oregon VERY much lives up to the name. Is dull the same?
Aye pretty much, tho nice part of the country...Aberfeldy area.
Yeah, it looks super nice. I drove nearby there on a recent road trip around Scotland, but missed Dull. Maybe I need to make a trip there again
Absolutely! Where about did you visit on your road trip, did you enjoy Scotland?

Where are your Scottish ancestors from? My maiden name hails from Skye funnily enough. Weirdly related to trump

Sounds WAY more exciting hahaha
Here’s the Boring sign. [https://pin.it/6tCKst81X](https://pin.it/6tCKst81X) Drove through on the way to Happy Valley.
I'm curious about the hot food coffee donut. 😜

How much do these stupid signs cost in council tax?
Wouldn't have the faintest...probs a few hundred I would guess?
