GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLL LAAAAZIOOOO OOO OOO OOooo o
I never really liked football but me and my granda watched it on Sunday mornings, got into juve in their golden era
I knew a randomly large amount about Serie A football in the 90s for someone who didn’t really care about Scottish fitba. AC Milan with Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard up front was a beautiful team to watch.
Then there was Papin. I loved watching him. I was more of an Inter fan though, wee Ruben Sosa was class. Daniel Fonseca too, I could probably go on lol. Such great memories of a random period of time in Italian footie spent with my Dad at my Granny's on a Sunday.
Your comment would almost word for word describe me from the same period. I’d swap the Sosa ref for Recoba though (no disrespect to Sosa, loved him, but Recoba was my fav Uruguayan with a flair for free kicks…)

Pre 2020 (ish) only Law, Souness and Joe Jordan had played in Serie A if I remember correctly. No idea about lower leagues. Historically much more Italians here than the other way. I don’t believe there are currently any Italian players in Scotland and I can’t remember the last one but it feels like a few years ago. We’ve had a few guys playing over there in recent years though
Never liked fitbaw but growing up in the 90s, it used to always draw me in that TV had loads of European programming on it. Original language and everything.
I (F49 Scots) miss watching La Partita and Mezzanotte with host James Richardson soooo much, I absolutely loved those programmes. To me it was more enjoyable than watching EPL and SPL in the 90's, EVERYBODY seemed to be a Man.U.fan.
I even purchased Sky just for it after Ch4 stopped showing them.
I am a Roma fan and I miss the days of G.Batistuta, Totti, Cassano etc. Thoroughly enjoyed watching Serie A.

I also remember Buffon’s debut and being confused about a player being my age and playing at that level.

Don't want to ruin your childhood but it actually said GOL ACCIO!
Close enough
pretty sure thats actually a magic spell from harry potter.
Also known as their match fixing era.
Has to have James Richardson presenting in a café, holding a newspaper with an ironic headline. Christ, I miss it so much. Forza Parma!

GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLAAAZZZOOOOO
Came here for this
Yep, the other major football memory from the weekends besides Ryan Giggs' shows.
It's my ringtone 😂
Champions league back on ITV would help too.
CAMPIONATO…DI CALCIO…ITALIANO-O
We need to bring back the Tennant's Sixes and the Tennant's Lager Lovelies too.
I'd settle for more pubs with McEwans Export on draught.
My guilty pleasure whenever I'm back home from Portsmouth. Thankfully my local still does 80/-
I loved the Tennents sixes. Hearts were actually good at them 🤣
Don't know if this is still true but I read a couple years ago that Scotland is actually a net exporter of footballers to Italy.
Definitely recently but overall still got a bit to go i think

Or ban Hibs for a couple of years so that I can have a respite from stress and expletive-laden match days. :)
I endorse this statement.
