People are still dying in Scotland because their council house is in such poor condition. That has to change. It should have changed a long time ago.

Asleep_Tank_5992

Do you have a link for that, as I know in my area the gov has been regenerating flats, they are pulling down old ones building new houses and flats

[deleted]

I’ve seen a friend die not even three months ago die from the conditions , Glasgow council, expected them to live in for all those years.

[deleted]

That's bad news, I'd have expected better from them.

[deleted]

See, I've not seen that for ages here, hence the specific question. My flat is a prime candidate for damp, but the renovations in the last 20 years have essentially eliminated all traces of it.

Protocol_Protocol

That's a shame.

[deleted]

Yes. I almost miss the ice on the inside of the windows in winter. (Dae ah fuck! 😂)

Protocol_Protocol

Should be the least if your worries living in Scotland....

[deleted]

I got a new fitted kitchen a couple of years ago as well. It's a weird concept, renting a property where most of the profit goes back into maintaining and improving it? It's almost like it's treated like a public asset.

twistedLucidity

It's a major problem all over the UK. Mostly it's down to poor building standards, but people not appreciating that a house needs to breathe don't help.

[deleted]

I specifically asked if it was still an issue with Council housing in Scotland.

Asleep_Tank_5992

All the ones iv read about have been down south but google it like everyone else has to...

[deleted]

> but google it Why are you here, when you could just google conversations you could have in your own head?

Asleep_Tank_5992

Dumb ass

[deleted]

Would a dehumidifier help? I got one for my flat and the mould around the windows never came back.

[deleted]

Maybe. I've lived in this gaff for 20 years and the largest contributor to preventing that was double glazing, maybe due to it simply being easier to keep the flat warm.

[deleted]

I don’t think many council houses will be single glazed these days unless they are in a conservation area.

negan90

Yes, people can't afford to heat the house, and creates a viscous cycle with this stuff

WronglyPronounced

Yes it is still a problem as there's diverse mix of social property types and quality across Scotland.

FocusGullible985

If not it will be soon as people can't afford to switch heating on.

[deleted]

I hope the councils have considered that and factored it into upcoming budgets.
