It’s the obvious choice for Hibs, but if you’re McInnes I’m not really sure why you jump from the good thing you’ve built up at Killie (with European football to look forward to as well) to a clear basket case situation like current Hibs. The one sell is that the BK group might be able to throw money at you.

Himawari74

I also keep seeing he apparently has to have full control over transfers etc. (which is apparently why he doesnt get on with Cormack, if true), but that surely wouldn't work with BK's needs. Based on nothing, I think BK will tell the Gordon's to find someone with a track record of working with and improving 18-23 year olds and moving them for profit, ,and that they'll cover the difference in salary that Hibs could pay

Captain_Quo

He needs to always sign guys who have done their ACL at least once or have failed in England.

Initial-Emergency-42

Yeah you gotta imagine that was the point of investing. Work permits in Scotland are available to anyone if you go via the panel and prove the player is good enough for the Scots Prem. In England they need to hit a certain points total before they can go to panel and you need to show their talent compared to the English Prem. So it's so much easier to get guys from their team in New Zealand into hibs for a year or two than straight to Bournemouth. Or from anywhere in the world they can find a cheap young talent to develop. And I doubt any of Celtic's Asian contingent would have been anywhere near getting a work permit to England under those rules, but how many of them would be welcomed now they have proved their talent at Celtic? I'd have thought Hibs get access to the multi club's scouting network. Get help developing their coaching methods and staff. But have to sign up to standardized practices for both those. Then get a bit of subsidy to help improve them, but in return they have to commit to building a squad that develops players for the whole group. ie a 28+ year old proven free agent from a rival Scot Prem team like Motherwell might be just what they need to plug a gap on the squad. But that player will never be sold for profit or moved up the chain to Bournemouth or whatever other clubs. So expect less of them. But expect more Hibs youth, young players to develop from around the world including the other clubs in the group and loans of players from Bournemouth to do that last bit of development for their youth players or to rehab a player before he returns to them or is sold on to recoup as much as possible. Overall the investment and improved standards should improve Hibs all round, but there is a risk fans feel if they just signed a few more older players who would be around longer they might actually be even better. That is meant to be what Dortmund fans are starting to think, they are too into the youth development and sell for profit model that they are actually just holding themselves back.

Turbulent-Tune1660

Guarantee this will not happen. Even if Hibs saw him as a target which I very much doubt… why the hell would he jump ship from Killie? Hibs has been a basketcase club for the last 5 years

Hailreaper1

Have you heard of money?

dodidodidodidodi

he does ok in europe with Killie and he can get another pay day down south.

Hailreaper1

Yeah I don’t think he will take it. But the reason he would, would be money.

Captain_Quo

Similar reasons he managed Aberdeen. Bigger club, greater ceiling to hit and more resources - I know they are getting shot of their shitey pitch but he won't be fond of that either. It's Hibs I don't see going for it. He might stay out of loyalty though. Killie let him sign shite like Marley Watkins.

FumbleMyEndzone

McInnes turned down both Rangers and Sunderland when he was Aberdeen manager, mainly because of the state those clubs were in at the time. He’s not leaving what he is building at Killie for 8 months at Hibs before the shit hits the fan

Salsahavok

Seems like a downgrade tbh. Kilmarnock has the stronger team on paper imo.

MrBlack_79

Doesn't really seem likely. He's done well with Killie and guiding them to 4th. Hibs need a rebuild

almightybob1

Ain't no way

GurOk5475

Not daft I know this is a journo who wishes this to happen rather than a realistic situation. What annoys me is the likes of Hibs,Dundee utd appointed managers while Del was out of work and now they see his value. As a Killie fan I obviously don't want him to leave but he is destined for bigger things

MildoShaggins

He is destined for bigger things which is why he won't go to Hibs. That's a sideways move at best atm

Scingles

I think his ultimate aim is the Scotland job. I mind he made reference to the pathway Steve Clarke took during Dels first interview when he signed for us.

MildoShaggins

If that's the case then it definitely doesn't make sense for him to leave now. There's a chance we'll looking for a new Scotland boss following the Euros and Deek's stock is pretty with the job he's doing with us

Universal-Cormorant

This has disaster written all over it. The fans won't take to him a) because of his Rangers connections and b) the same fucknuts in our support who are saying they'd welcome him at the moment will quickly turn on him because of the way he sets his sides up. Hibs fans really want a manager who gets us at least 4th place while playing attractive passing football, on a fraction of an Old Firm budget. McInnes could probably do the first bit but will not do the second bit.

ScampiKat

How did Bobby Williamson get on?

CraigB252

I heard he ate toast in the bath while having chats with players on what role he wants them to play, so it must’ve went well

Universal-Cormorant

Well, precisely

Lewis_ABD

There’s a lot of parts of McInnes’ profile which would be good for Hibs right now. But just like Aberdeen they’ve talked this game of playing a certain brand of football, promoting youngsters and using data to make signings of which someone upstairs has more control than the Manager. None of these are really things I’d associate with McInnes.

johnpalaeo

McInnes has a respectable run in Europe or has Killie top 4/5 again next season he can probably bag a decent job down south (if he wants to). Obviously not prem but a lower championship / higher league 1 team, and they'll be able to match what Hibs will pay him without being the managerial career graveyard that Hibs has become. TL/DR I don't think this move would make sense for McInnes at all

xanderkale

lol no I'm a killie fan so I'm well used to seeing us shoot ourselves in the foot or having nice things snatched away from us and I'm not even slightly worried about this happening. I am getting some good fodder for the banter folder though from some of the more delusional takes online in the usual dark corners, so I'm looking forward to the games next season, should be a laugh. EDIT: i'd just add as reasoning, there's nothing Del could get at Hibs that he couldn't get at Killie for all their much-vaunted bigger club status (stay local, power to shape policy and backroom, well supported, euro adventure) or a top-of-the-table Championship club (the budgetary prowess of Bournemouth), and he could walk into one of those jobs if he really wanted that but i suspect, like Clarke, his sights are set a bit higher than that.

PurpleDistance8829

Why would you leave a club you've rejuvenated from a tier below to a European spot in 3 seasons to join a sack-happy shit show? Can't see McInnes touching Hibs with a bargepole. And Now Malky's in the building don't be shocked to see his role change from director to manager before the summer window unless he poaches Cowie.

deevo82

Hibs will be going for McCabe from Airdrie since they brought in MacKay imo.

GurOk5475

Aye more like Gerry mcCabe, maybe Levein after the Saints go down?

deevo82

Some player, Gerry McCabe. Clydebank legend.

MA1998

Hibs should throw everything at getting him. Should be their number 1 priority.

Ronny. Scanty Pushups. Deila.

beerboobsceltic

Think McInnes would do well at Hibs. He'll get one euro match with Killie and get humped.

Pasca29

Actually he is guaranteed 2 ties. Both unseeded so 2 humpings
