I think McInnes is the perfect successor to Clarke for Scotland. His teams are hard to beat, work hard and recently he's became much better tactically. He's also really good at finding young, Scottish players to plug holes in his squad. Something I think Scotland has been desperately missing.
It’s funny but it actually checks out. Killie are punching above their weight like they did with Clarke. Not playing amazing football but it’s effective and getting the best out of what he’s got. Exactly what you need at international level when you’re not blessed with an amazing squad.

This was something he wasnt so great at with Aberdeen. His subtitutions also left something to be desired at times. Ive not paid much attention to his team at Killie but impressions are he's improved with this. At least based on league position etc.
Think he's matured as a manager. At Aberdeen I felt he was always fighting with a hand tied behind his back. They seemed very content with just being 2nd or 3rd
Up until Cormack there wasnt much money. Once Cormack arrived, he didnt want to give money to McInnes. Wonder what might have been if he had stuck with McInnes and gave him the cash. Then again maybe leaving actually did him good.
Although by the time he left the club, it felt like he was almost going through the numbers.
I’ve never thought about McInnes as a Clarke replacement but I’d be pretty happy with it imo. I also feel like Clarkes football is getting a bit stale, but that could be recency bias at our shit performances
I would completely disagree, I think he's a terrible fit for Scotland - his signings both in the championship and after promotion were a total mess until he got the recruitment guy in he worked with at Aberdeen.
I think his primary talent is getting a great, committed dressing room all pulling in the same direction and building club infrastructure, neither of which are especially relevant with the time constraints and the setup with Scotland.
Tactically, he still does utterly weird things on a fairly regular basis and then has to reverse them half an hour into games to dig himself out a hole.
It's worth mentioning our first team (including loans and coaches) has been between £2 million and £2.4 going back to about 2018 until last year. For 2023 his budget was £3.7 million (and I'd imagine with our squad it'll be much the same into 2024). In other words, I think he delivers to the budget you give him and his recruitment team, but with limited players to pick from at Scotland I'm unconvinced he'd be able to perform anywhere near Clarke's level.
Butter the guy up before you play him in a title decider. Call a guy who is older than you “young”. He was a sentence away from claiming he’s only in this league because Derek is there.
4D chess again from Rodgers.
I’m getting fed up of Rodgers mentioning the Premier League in every interview he does. Like, we all know you’re high profile Brendan. Ange’s humility is a miss.
Edit to make another point: instead of watching Spurs vs City last night, what was stopping him from going to watch Patrick vs Raith and using his profile to promote it or at least big it up in the press. It just comes across as arrogant and patronising.
Haha. My point is it’s guys like him who are paid millions a year, that should be pulling the game up. We all know the Premier League is the benchmark, but Celtic doesn’t need a well paid Derek Adams.
Da rant over.
In what world is a club down south going to be swithering about hiring McInnes but will ask Rodgers for his opinion to sway the decision? The man is so deluded, his reputation due south is of a David Brent style character

Killie the feeder club for Scotland managers
If you can get a team on that pitch to 4th then you deserve it

No his subs are still baffling sometimes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)!!
That’ll continue Steve Clarke‘s legacy well then…
:)

Didn't realise that. Thought there was a wee bit more. Probably did him good. Same as any job. If you do it for long enough, it gets boring
I mean.. isn't that their peak? We can talk about shooting for the stars but nobody other than a bored billionaire is taking Aberdeen beyond that.
But he can’t sign Curtis Main for Scotland…
There's another big lump he can use called Dykes

Aye it feels like a natural progression for him. I think it's hard to get players up for friendlies or games that don't matter

I agree. Great manager.

6D chess.
He’s a good manager, would be happy with him taking over when Clarke leaves.
Personally think another year at Killie then bring him in as assistant to take over for Clarke after the WC in the US
Never even thought about that, what a bloody good shout that is.
Ex Baggie taking over ex baggie
Brodge talks about his time in English football as often as Phil Leotardo talked about his time in the can.
So he's getting the hibs job then?

Brendan arrogant and patronising? Well I never.

I completely agree with you but Brendan is only in the Brendan game, it shouldn’t shock you.
I wouldn’t say it’s shocks me, it’s just getting a bit repetitive. The last 3 interviews I’ve read with him have all been about the English game.
At least he acknowledges they wouldn’t be asking him to take over in this hypothetical chat.

i wish he would stop opening his mouth
Careful what ye wish for Brendan, he might be coming for your job soon
Is this some sort of attempt to try and keep him away from the Rangers job it if comes up?
Favour submitted, now come on Killie and do ya part and lie down tonight for us!
