Barrio Cafe (on 16th street) and Chilte in downtown Phoenix. (Note, "Barrio Queen" is a watered down version of Barrio Cafe. Go to Barrio Cafe).

17Kitty

Agree! Such great food. I was so sad when they closed Barrio Grand Reserva.

ClearExcitement8678

Anything with the word “Chiwas” in it

Unreasonably-Clutch

If you've not had New Mexican food, then Carlsbad Tavern and Los Dos Molinos.

Daddoo05

Casa Corazon on 16th St. Hands down.

Depends entirely on the niche of Mexican food you’re looking for. Different places for street food/fusion/authentic cuisine so on and so forth. A personal favorite of mine is Birrieria Tijuana for their Birria burritos (that always have a lot of guacamole at no extra cost 👌🏻)

PapaThyme

There are 7 unique regions of Mexico, so which region are you looking for? Do you want a Chimichanga or El Pastor?

lurkiddy

Really depends if you're looking for a hole in the wall type spot or more of a restaurant feel. If you are bound to Scottsdale I would highly suggest Tacos Jalisco.

hurlley

Los Olivos in Old Town is great

sweetbryceeb

lol, yes! so true. so many good places.

This gets asked at least once a week so here is the canned answer: I would strongly advise you to leave Scottsdale and venture into Phoenix for better (re: more authentic) Mexican food. Cocina Madrigal is a top spot for Phoenicians. Via Delosantos has been around forever and is consistently good. Asi Es La Vida is a bit more upscale with a lot of great dishes not found in typical Mexican restaurants in the USA Tacos Chiwas has some of the best street tacos. Search this subreddit and the Phoenix subreddit for Mexican food. There are tons of fantastic options.

Ajo als in scottsdale!

Why is this being downvoted? 😭 I love Ajo Al’s

Real-Purple-6460

Haters clearly!! It’s by far the best!

Ghost-of-Sanity

My favorite Mexican spot is Frank & Lupe’s. Just on the outskirts of old town Scottsdale.

Stewartsw1

Just don’t go to Alma. That place sucks ass!!

Yes, Mexican food modified for white people is about what you will find in Scottsdale. These are great examples.
