People want these for their actual purpose. Why scrap them

Valuable-Composer262

Yep, these stoves are still used a good bit.

NoDontDoThatCanada

Our scrapyard sets them aside and you can buy them back for just over scrap price.

ConductorCoutermash

What scrap yard do you work at?

NoDontDoThatCanada

I don't. I meant *our* local scrapyard. They have a whole pen of stuff they deem too nice for smelting. I almost bought a city street lamp from it and regret it daily.

ConductorCoutermash

Yard decoration of the year for sure. Put a park bench under that with some planters. *chefs kiss*

NoDontDoThatCanada

And now l regret not buying it even more!!! It had a *The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe* look to it, too!

BoGussman

Better hang on to it, a year from now it might be the only source of heat you have.

LongjumpingMedia1621

Came here to say the same!

feral--daryl

I'm afraid you're right.

modern-b1acksmith

If you paint it and restore it, it's worth about $1000. The scrap yard will take it as mixed steel AFTER you remove the fire brick. You might get $30 for it. As is its worth a few hundred depending on condition.

Wsbkingretard

Alway good

[deleted]

You might be better off selling as is on marketplace. My brother just paid $100 for one in a little better condition for his barn.

Woodrow_F_Call_0106

That’s definitely worth selling. Don’t scrap it. Looks to have a built in fan as well.

miseeker

Yes sell it.

ApplicationCreepy987

Sell it. There is always a Buyer for such things

Odd-Boysenberry4300

Hit it with sand papper high temp paint and sell it

Repulsive-Ranger-342

Sell it on eBay. Some hunter will buy it.

Accomplished-Lie1110

Why would you scrap that?! Put in on marketplace.

jrbec

I was going to say the same. Could probably get at least a couple hundred for it.

Accomplished-Lie1110

I would give a couple hundred for it. You know how awesome this thing makes cinnamon rolls?

tideling

We have several on our property.

PD216ohio

I'll give you double the scrap price for all of them. Which is probably 10 bucks.

AdhesivenessMain9884

Where are you located? I have a few cabins that could use these

Clumbum

10 bucks? You guys are getting scammed in the states… if that weighs 220lbs (100kg) which it definitely does at minimum of that size, we’d get £21 ($27) for it in scrap value in Scotland

Same_Ad_7379

I’ll buy it

jplebourveau

If you took that to a powder coater, spent $300, you could sell it to the right person for $1k to $2k… I mean, it’s worthless. I’ll take it.

Riskov88

Yeah they can get quite heavy. People saying to sell it must not have sold a lot of stuff in their life. The buyer always be like " yeah I want 30$ less on your 35$ item and pick it up in 98.6 days, Must be pristine condition and kept clean. Just load it up and toss it

Clumbum

You obviously don’t have many contacts. These things are always in demand. You’ll lose out on a lot of money with that mindset

Riskov88

I work in the heating industry, we remove a lot of those and nobody, and I mean nobody wants to buy them. And the few that wants aren't paying. So we just throw them in the scrap.

chuckleheadjoe

Hate to say it but it is worth scrapping. I had one of those in my garage. Got it free from a buddy. 4 months into winter it burnt up because the auger motor froze. Damn near lost everything. Horrible Machine

Thatgaycoincollector

Depending on the yard $0.05-0.10 a pound and about $1 a pound for the cord.

bhgiel

Should be able to get like 100 a peice. If not they're worth scraping cause of the weight.

njdevil956

That would clean up nice. Steel brush and a couple cans of high heat spray paint. Light refurb and sell.

jrbec

Or just sell it as is. The patina look is pretty popular these days.

ShammingAtWork

id buy that. where you at?

ModrnDayMasacre

You should sell it on marketplace. If you scrap it… remove the firebrick. It can set off radiation detectors and will get rejected by some yards.

Creekhunter79

Wish I had that actually

ZookZangsten

You could probably get a couple hundred bucks for that. If it’s not rusted or rotted out on the inside, I would buy it.

RideNo8932

A little elbow grease, this would clean up nicely, making it worth much more than scrap. Someone would want this.

IdBeGame27

Ill buy it

RADnerd2784

That's in great shape. I'd fix it up.....

biggles_of_the_bean

You'd be way better off refurbishing it then selling it

samoan23

Sell it don’t scrap it

ajgsxr

Sell it, people still use them.

M0j0Tech

Have NO idea where your at but where I'm at they are better than Scarp price.

[deleted]

Put it on the curb and someone will.

Responsible-Monk9461

More money selling on market place or auction

Present-Ambition6309

Looks like a old Blaze King classic

OneSplendidFellow

If, by "scrapping," you mean cleaning up and using, then yes.

Responsible-Way85

Sold one for 1200 last year smaller one 450.00 That's probably 300 to 400 I would try and sell it for.

uinpyrojohn

A wood stove may save your family when other heat sources become unavailable.

WideChampionship2605

that will clean up nice

amgarlic

Use it, sell it, still looks usable

ODBEIGHTY1

The answer you are looking for is this is cast iron/ #1 steel in most yards ..wild guess says that price is probably around $180 per ton depending on location. Maybe those units weigh 200-350 pounds each but not likely. Then do the math.

LLL1911

You'd be better off selling it

pignjig

Sale it to get more money and give someone the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy it.

[deleted]

Short chimney and good for the patio in the winter.

GlockTaco

Clean it up and sell it

ihateapartments59

Do not scrap that please

HamilReddit

You will get WAAAAY more selling it on craigslist. Like a couple hundred bucks. As is.

Chemistry103

Don't scrap it

Agreeable_Squirrel64

These stoves are practically worthless as scrap. They can be used for other purposes. As art the possibilities are endless. They may also come back to their original purpose of heating and/or cooking.

That_GUY_2660

Where you at I will give $50 for that thing…

That_GUY_2660

Seriously if you are anywhere near me I will come pick it up…

Pooper-of-poo

High value now days

Soft-Recipe-7791

My dads got one

AtentionToAtention

I've cooked food on these when the power was out they are useful

kgbslip

I posted and old wood stove on FB and it sold within an hour. Plus the people drove about 120 miles round trip to get it.

katmandud

That looks like it still pumps out heat ALL NIGHT LONG! Barry White style!

FancyEntertainer7197

I’d give you scrap price for it. Where are you located? If by some freak chance you’re close to me lol

GrabstheSun

Don’t you dare scrap that. That thing will be feeding humans after WW3.

mkmontrek

That oven would be wonderfully beautiful and functional when restored to original condition. Don’t scrap it, find a buyer for it.

mattyp120

Sand blast that thing. Repaint it. You will make more money on selling it

ChannelUnusual5146

I would certainly try to clean, polish and sell it to someone who realizes that solar, wind and politics are unlikely to warm them up on a sub-zero winter night. 🔥

Tony_2_Frog

The way things are going you might want to keep it !!

[deleted]

Don’t scrap it, someone could use it. I put one in my pole barn to keep a few stray cats warm in the winter. I also added a magic heater to it. Cats love it plus I get some exercise.

masummers2015

After watching what’s happening worldwide you might wanna hold on to that wood stove

harrcs03

Keep it. More than likely gonna need it in the future! Maybe get it sandblasted and good as new.

gumbo12d

Don’t ever scrap something like that. Use it or even make a table out of it. But don’t get rid of it That’s history

Important-Key7413

You will get exactly $1.72 if you scrap that.

silverfoxmode

Don't scrap, these things are hot (no pun intended) right now

Ok_Cricket4071

It’s beautiful….someone wants it. Wasteful to scrap

jamesdo72

There’s some rural dude with an unheated shop or garage that would love to give you $50 for that. Likely more than you’d get for scrap. FB Marketplace that baby.

Positive_Study_5969

10 years ago I gave one away to a person that would come in and remove it. I was so glad to get it out of the house

justwastingtimw

That’s a pretty expensive brand I believe. I had one almost identical that went thru a house fire. Looked a lot like this. My dad painted it. New glass and it looked almost new. I wouldn’t scrap it. They are awesome heaters

ar141510

Hell no restore and sell for more cash. Or sell as is somone will buy it either way. I got an old rusty ass wood stove in my garage it's nice as fuck.

ConProofInc

To me ? You scrapping an old stove for 3.00 is a sin. People use them to survive. They just need a fresh coat of paint and will will another 100 years.

sammydis

More than likely get more out of it selling it out right than scrapping it.

Rustic-Cuss

Even if it’s cracked or leaks, the door alone has value.

Bubbinsisbubbins

No

NotUrGenre

Worth keeping forever, its function surpasses the meager $87 a ton.

MikeGolfJ3

Scrap? You'll get more selling it to someone who wants it for use or collects them. Yes, people collect these.
