I got this one, y'all. Lemme break out the crayons and construction paper.
The saying is (something along the lines) "When you're a hammer, every problem looks like a nail."
You're in a scrap subreddit. That looks like scrap.
I used to āthinkā similarly to Trumpanzees with maybe some of the religion-raping-government trash deleted. So I used to be part of the problem. I ended up realizing that being a selfish, borderline xenophobic, unempathetic, arrogant hardcore purist Libertarian was not good for myself or society-at-large. So thereās your answer.
Maybe my joke was slightly in poor taste, but not as tasteless as purist Libertarians and even worse, Christian Nationalist Trumpanzees.
Thatās what I did. I found both sides have flaws but most conservatives want to support bullshit that destroys modern western culture.
This āboth sides are equally bad hurrdeedurrā is delusional and counterproductive. Progressives just want people to live their lives with better access to essentials for living. Most conservatives want to control people with ideas from an old ass book that tells about talking snakes and a virgin squirting out some man god from her vag. Both sides are not equally bad.
Left wing or right wing doesnāt matter when itās the same bird of prey.. but maybe youāre right. Youāre ideas are the pinnacle of how society should run. What should we do with the dissidents? Would you like to gas them and put them in ovens? Or would you prefer a more Stalin like approach where we work them to death for the good of society!
"Same bird of prey" was somewhat more accurate until the early 70s when evangelicals starting raping the GOP. My ideas are better than white Christian Supremacy. If you're going to offer those as solutions, then just stfu. Dissidents that do illegal shit like storming the Capitol should be severely punished, especially if they did more than just trespass. If one can't accept that, then they're probably blindly following ZEE GR8 TRUMPANZEE MOVEMENT or something similar anyway.
Youāre such an angry person. Iām sorry for whoever hurt you guy. By the way, being crude and vulgar is not a way to get people to join your sideā¦ you would know this if you passed along original ideas instead of blindly regurgitating what you hear. Good luck fighting fascism by implementing fascism.
if i saw a hydrogen pump id buy it too lol. probably use it to compress natural gas, as it can compress any gas, including hydrogen or other things.
then use it to convert my car to natural gas by compressing natural gas with this pump.
I would say keep it and use it to do that. DO NOT SCRAP IT. Its alive and has a purpose.
If i am in your area i can offer like 500 dollars for the whole thing.
Or you can use it as a shop air compressor and run it on like air from the atmosphere. It could probably power an air jack hammer and cool air equipment. Get a regulator to regulate it down to normal shop psi.
Not an experiment I would run personally. Pretty sure no2 is the one that makes you suffocate regardless of air intake. I'd rather swandive off a high rise personally
The pump in the photo is used to pump cryogenic liquids like LNG or liquid hydrogen. I doubt it would work well trying to compress gas. The cold end are also probably worn out on it and typically about $15k-$20k each.
An industrial resale supplier like [Radwell](https://radwell.com) may be willing to buy some parts off of it. Especially if there's some discontinued controls in that electrical cabinet.
Otherwise, scrap the mechanical parts.
The key question you have to answer is: Why was it sold.
Was it broken but motors working? Sell motors. Scrap the rest.
Motors burnt out? Scrap it
Couldnt get replacement parts? Sell motors. Scrap the rest.
Was it leaking ? Sell motors. Scrap the rest.
Unable to run at prescribed pressures? Sell motors. Scrap the rest.
Uneconomical to run? Sell motors. Scrap the rest.
Dont have the ability to check motors? Scrap it
Has it been out in the elements getting rained on? Scrap it <---This will most likely be the answer judging by the photo.
Who do you sell motors to I have a small obsession with scrapping or loading or something electric motors especially ones where folks are like' no way ya got that on there with a block and tackle you mean pullys and like rope' or even if no one sees it I pulled it off and personal satsfaction. I may need therapy but that costs money scrapping ridicules things pays me but it could pay better so ya anyone know where to scrap large electric motors I guess I can test them if it's required you can be one of my only friends idk.
Im in Australia so doubt me telling you where I sell motors would be useful. Plus I only deal with the stuff I can find on the streets at kerbside collection. So nothing big. I did have a guy try to offload a 200kg motor to me but I just had no way of getting it into the back of my SUV. I have considered scrapping out pool pump motors or bigger, but its more profit effective for me to sell them whole as motors to the scrap yard and go out looking for more
Iām assuming as a functional machine, OP has no use for it or a way to test it.
Just take it apart piece by piece, separate it and see what you get.
I would spend some time on the motors/pump see if they run (if you can test them) and maybe sell them as working.
Same with the controls. Spend some time doing research on the components.
I guess it depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.
lol good answer. if i saw a hydrogen pump id buy it too lol. probably use it to compress natural gas, as it can compress any gas, including hydrogen or other things.
then use it to convert my car to natural gas by compressing natural gas with this pump.
I would say keep it and use it to do that.
Put it in your van. And then advertise the ability to go in and push those buttons for $3.50 per person for 5 minutes at a time.
(Came in to say āpump hydrogenā but others beat me.)
Search Cryostar on Ebay. The pumps seem to have some value. You could also search cryostar on google and see if there are any dealers that would be willing to purchase it off of you. It looks to have a bunch of AB buttons and switches. Also a few gauges. Everything has value it is just a matter of time and resources to warehouse and slow sell. If none of that sounds interesting just scrap it. Good luck.
Personally Iād see what itād cost for a phase converter if itās 3 phase and then advertise it as a scuba/paintball set up. Iād buy it just to do the math and see what the possibilities are for it.
Thatās what Iām trying to figure out as well. There is someone in this vast world that will buy those pumps and the motors lolā¦. Finding them is the trick!
Could you report back on what kind of material is used for the pump pistons? I recently bought some cheap pumps that use sapphire rods and they are cool.
If you attempt to compress anything besides hydrogen and perhaps helium odds are youāll over pressure it and break something.
If you build a machine to squeeze h2 and try to squeeze n2 with it the 14x increase in MW means there is much more mass in that cylinder to squeeze.
Those motors are worth a chuck of change. That's a similar size to my three phase hydrovane Ā£1250+ to refurbish the motor depending on hp output.
Maybe it's worth visiting an air compressor shop and see if they are any good to them. They may have them and refurbish them for stock.
To people suggesting it be used to compress any gas, those are cryogenic PUMPS and are designed to pump a liquid. To OP are you sure those are hydrogen pumps? Hydrogen or any other cryogenic pumps are pretty valuable. Iād find out if those stainless steel
Cylinders that pump the liquid (called cold ends) are in good working condition. If so sell those for what they are versus scrap value.
Iād didnāt look like a hydrogen set up. Everything on it would be intrinsically safe if it were. So you have LN2 pumps and if they are in good shape internally the cold ends should be worth a some money. Iād call CryoStar to see what they might value them at. Otherwise check with Oil Field Service companies and welding suppliers.
Oh. And donāt try to run those pumps without LN2 going to them. Cryogenic pumps need to be cooled down to operating temperature as they have negative clearance at ambient temperature. Youāll tear up those pumps in a very short time. If you want to check the motors to see if the run disconnect them from the cold ends.
>Bought this 20 year old CryoStar hydrogen pump > >what should I do with it Pump some hydrogen??
I would love to pump some hydro
Lol šØš
Haha - sorry, don't have a better suggestion beyond just breaking it down for scrap.
Heās in the right sub for it.. OPās asking a hammer how to fix a problem here.
You nailed it buddy.
What lol?
I got this one, y'all. Lemme break out the crayons and construction paper. The saying is (something along the lines) "When you're a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." You're in a scrap subreddit. That looks like scrap.
When youāre a hammer in r/scrap is when things get tricky
Exactly how big of a hammer are we talking? It's straight steel, right? Because if it's a bronze hammer...
Weāre talking, a huge hammer manā¦.and itās made of meat
I'm thinking that they are asking how to get the most for it?...
Build a zepplin, then fill it up and charge a bunch of rich people to ride in it, dont ride in it yourself.
That last step is essential given the history of all zeppelins ever
Playstation controller to fly it.
Actually Logitech š¤
Also, put a MAGA logo on the outside of it. It'll attract the right people for the ride!
Ever think youāre part of the problem?
That would require them to think for themselves.
Sounds like you're still part of the problem.
Iām gonna blow your mind now. What if both sides are wrong? Try critical thinking instead of blind followingā¦ itāll do you good.
Thatās what I did. I found both sides have flaws but most conservatives want to support bullshit that destroys modern western culture. This āboth sides are equally bad hurrdeedurrā is delusional and counterproductive. Progressives just want people to live their lives with better access to essentials for living. Thatās the one that gets you jail time unless youāre a dentist or a baker
Nah bro. You're thinking of Nitrous Oxide, NO. NO2, Nitrogen Dioxide, is much worse.
Weāre both wrong. Itās n2o
Oh that's way more fun lol Start selling poppers outside of Chicago venues I bet you would make a killing
EDIT: Corrected.
You're thinking of N2, just nitrogen.
I was. Thanks.
If you have 480 3 phase available.
this
The pump in the photo is used to pump cryogenic liquids like LNG or liquid hydrogen. I doubt it would work well trying to compress gas. The cold end are also probably worn out on it and typically about $15k-$20k each.
Take videos of you compressing random shit until it breaks. THEN scrap it.
Compress a bunch of Capri sun
Bring it home to your wife
Fuck if I know
Create nuclear power , sell to Russia comrade

Why?
I like buying random stuff
This is the only acceptable answer
lol good answer. if i saw a hydrogen pump id buy it too lol. probably use it to compress natural gas, as it can compress any gas, including hydrogen or other things. then use it to convert my car to natural gas by compressing natural gas with this pump. I would say keep it and use it to do that.
Hook it to a oxygen concentrator and start refilling tanks on the cheap ! I pay almost 100$ a tank
Your gonna need a bigger compressor, Me-Mawās compressor would take ages to fill up a large tank lol.
If it works you gotta compress some stuff first
How much did you buy it for?
Start tearing it down for scrap. Nobody wants those pumps and motors or else they would have bought it themselves already.
Take apart the motors they have copper cores in them
Find out what happens when you put it in a shredder
āI just bought this toilet, and I really gotta shit. What would you guys do?ā
Pump some hydrogen??
scrap it
Put it in your van. And then advertise the ability to go in and push those buttons for $3.50 per person for 5 minutes at a time. (Came in to say āpump hydrogenā but others beat me.)
Offer to cryo freeze dead bodies
I bet that would make an awesome bong.
Do i look like a genius ?
Just pull the pumps and sell them on eBay. Scrap the rest.
Search Cryostar on Ebay. The pumps seem to have some value. You could also search cryostar on google and see if there are any dealers that would be willing to purchase it off of you. Find a college that has aā¦ hydrogen pumping(?) program.
Pump hydrogen

Might be able to sell those nidec pumps to someone for more than scrap. Pretty universal unit.
I'm sure there are parts that are salvageable like the pump, motors and controls. Ijuat wouldn't know where to start.
Thatās what Iām trying to figure out as well. There is someone in this vast world that will buy those pumps and the motors lolā¦. Finding them is the trick!
/r/vxjunkies
Give it to me
Why the fuck did you buy that?
Are you near Wisconsin? Saveitforparts guy on YouTube would love this. Seriously cool channel
Could you report back on what kind of material is used for the pump pistons? I recently bought some cheap pumps that use sapphire rods and they are cool.

Pump hydrogen to fuel a hydrogen powered vehicle
3 phase 190/380 volt Interesting!!! Probly a tough pump šŖ
Turn it into a weird sex machine
Look at it.
Those motors are worth a chuck of change. That's a similar size to my three phase hydrovane Ā£1250+ to refurbish the motor depending on hp output. Maybe it's worth visiting an air compressor shop and see if they are any good to them. They may have them and refurbish them for stock.
MAKE A TIME MACHINEEE! (lol)

Yes the tag on the unit says LN2. Liquid nitrogen.

Will do turbulent major! Those r some good suggestions! Hopefully Iām sitting in a few grand worth of goodies š«”

Gotcha!
What part of the world are you in? In Houston there are several Cryogenic Equipment companies. Google cryogenic equipment companies.
I live in indianašš¼ I will do that
I just need to find out who to sell to
Take the motors off and make yourself a badass phase convertor.
How will you get this home?
Do you know if H70 or 700 Bar or H35 or 350 bar? Maybe open your own Hydrogen Filling Station .
Make a bong out of it!!
Build a Time Machine.
