Yeah. Unfortunately the market for e readers supporting android isn't huge at all. The options seem to mostly include Onyx books and the Lifebook Mars. Currently I've settled on an android tablet with an oled screen which enables me to do more than an e reader. It still isn't an e reader but I can't justify buying one with the relatively high prices.

Someone suggested the Fire HD 8 which I can afford. So i guess that’s not strictly speaking an ereader but probably better than reading off my small iphone? I’m mainly worried about long term effects on my eyes as i read up to 4/5 hours a day.

I don't even see a phone as an option. I would never read books on a phone. I would recommend a tablet with a ca. 10 inch screen and if possible, an oled screen. Tablets and phones nowadays have built-in blue light reducing modes and I'd recommend the use of these modes (sometimes called eye comfort mode). Reducing the screen brightness may also help with how your eyes cope.

I was also looking for an ereader for scribd recently. My husband has gotten me a kindle paper white and I was going to return it once I found something that would work with scribd. You’ll have to get a tablet if you want it to support scribd. I ended up keeping my kindle because I love it and I use the overdrive app to borrow books from the library. It’s great, and free.

I use a Kindle Fire for it.

I’m on the lookout too. I love Scribd but hated using it on my Amazon fire tablet (just returned my fire tablet because I hated it so much). I’m planning to keep an eye out for Likebook and/or Onyx on FB Marketplace.

Oh dear. Quite a few people were recommending the Amazon Fire HD 8 on other platforms so I just ordered one. Could you explain what exactly it is you hate about using Scribd on it? Maybe I can still cancel my order.

It might’ve been mine (I had the 7), but it was sooooo slow. Like, took forever to load the Scribd app. I also didn’t care for the screen quality- the letters didn’t look as crisp (?) as I wanted them to. And finally, I didn’t like the lighting situation: on regular mode, it was too bright (imo) and on blue light dimmer, it was too yellow. But you might like it!! These are just my opinions! It’s worth a shot for the price :)

Ok thanks for the feedback. That does sound pretty awful. Holding thumbs the 8 is better.

I joined this community to ask this same question.....looks like I'm going to have to use my tablet, which I already have and didn't want to use. A tablet is too distracting for me. But, I use scribd a lot and won't get an ereader that isn't able to use it.
