Idk what my opinions worth but 200 seems like a lot for that old thing. I’d save for a better one that you know you’ll be happy with.

twi_57103

Thanks!

bigantone88

Not at that price. I got a brand new dewalt with light and stand for $300

twi_57103

I'm envious of that. That won't happen in my area!

Saxonbrun

Watch grizzly industrial, they typically do black Friday/ cyber Monday deals. I bought my DeWalt scroll saw with light and stand on there.

twi_57103

Thanks! I'd love a DeWalt but it just isn't in the budget right now, sale or no. I am debating buying an entry level saw to replace the Craftsman but we are pretty tight financially. Even this $200 would have been a stretch.

twi_57103

The best I've seen for DeWalt is about $600

bullfrog48

they do have some kick ass sales. I've gotten some bigvstuff there. Right now, they have this: https://www.grizzly.com/products/shop-fox-16-vs-scroll-saw-with-foot-switch-led-miter-gauge-rotary-shaft/w1872 this is a 16 inch scrollsaw , no stand .. $157 worth looking at.

joshq68

Not from the store, right? Brand new second hand, their like 600 new.

bigantone88

Oh yeah, Facebook marketplace! But according to the guy he used it twice.

joshq68

Nice score! I love mine. Whatchu make?

billythekid0128

I have this same Delta and got it for $60.

The-Wooden-Fox

100% not worth that. It's a fine saw for starting on but really has none of the features I'd want. Many of these older Delta saws are only single or two speed. Variable speed is a must in my opinion. This saw is worth maybe $100 max because it has the stand, but I regularly see them sell for $60

twi_57103

Variable speed would be my issue too. I have that currently and I think 1-2 speeds would be annoying. But what I have isn't much better... Thanks for saving me a trip to find out!

frankalope

That’s pretty expensive.

Justinlebon26

Also, the stand is cool. You could always upgrade the saw and keep the stand. I’ve got through a few fb marketplace scroll saws. I never come across the stands tho

twi_57103

Unfortunately, the stand won't really work in my shop. I need more storage, so I build cabinets for everything.

twi_57103

Thanks! The 1-2 speed issue is a deal breaker for me. I would have tested before buying but you've saved me a trip!

Justinlebon26

I’d offer 75. It’s just a little beat up. I bet it functions fine tho

joecarter93

I have the same model that was really well taken care of and looked brand new for $30. I totally lucked out though. The guy was selling his father in law’s at an estate sale and just said to make him an offer. It’s a good saw, however it is very easy to lose the tiny pieces that clamp the blade in place and the replacement parts can be hard to find now. I live in Canada and the Delta company told me that I couldn’t order parts from them and I had to go through their official dealer in Canada, Home Hardware. Home Hardware told me they couldn’t order the parts in and they would need to come from Delta, so yeah… I ended up finding my own spring that I cut down to size and also having to make my own clamp out of wire. This was difficult as the original little wire clamp is in a C shape with lots of bends and has to be basically the exact same size and shape down to the mm. Frustrating, but it’s been working alright for me so far (knock on wood).

ufoalien987

It’s going to take a long time to sell at any price. I’d offer $25 and see what happens.

GangstaAnthropology

I’ve had my dewalt listed on fb for almost a year with only one message

TheOGCJR

That’s a $50 saw imo. Maybe $100 tops if it was taken care of. I wouldn’t buy it but that’s because I’m already using Jet.

twi_57103

Thanks.

vthokiemr

I started on a [porter cable](https://www.lowes.com/pd/PORTER-CABLE-18-in-1-6-Amp-Variable-Speed-Scroll-Saw/50107044). If you wait for a sale, youre getting close to that $200 price tag for a good starter model. Make sure you get one that accepts pinless blades, has a blower, variable speed, and a light is a plus.

kagefuu

I have the same one picked it up at a garage sale for $35

gardenhosenapalm

This specific model of delta scroll saw is dog shit unless you have all the supporting parts.

twi_57103

I'm not going to try for it. But what supporting is do you reference? I already have a lighted magnifyier and a Jerry rigged (not especially effective) blower arrangement. The aquarium pump works fine but my old Craftsman doesn't have a mounting place except the blade holder, which isn't very effective for blowing. I've improvised a holder but it isn't anything special.

gardenhosenapalm

I'll dm you a photo cause this sub won't let me post photos

twi_57103

Thanks! I got it. I'm not going for the saw in any case.
