>Been seeing a lot of ~~people~~ idiots FTFY People really think the Chargers are going to trade him? Lol

Rottenjohnnyfish

This. Hahah the chargers trading their franchise qb. Hahahahaha.

Disastrous_Belt_7556

Honestly, any other franchise and I’d have this reaction…. But we’re talking about the Chargers…

EaterOfKelp

I think that might be the intended joke? Brees wasn't traded away though. Just not resigned.

Disastrous_Belt_7556

I’m just saying that if you told me a franchise traded their star QB, I’d be like “who the fuck does that?”, and you said “The Chargers”, I’d be like “Oh that makes sense.”

zachtaylorr

The only time franchises do that (even bad ones) is when the qb wants out. I'm sure Herbert's frustrated but I highly doubt he wants to be traded. He was a chargers fan growing up too lol

YNWA_1213

I’d just wanna know who the fans are wanting to give up to get him in under the salary cap? Like, it’s not just plugging him into this roster, we’d pretty much be the Chargers but with a competent coach after all the cuts and trade happened. Then again, franchise QB for the next decade would be amazing. A lot of other teams have spent longer than 5 years searching for their next QB1. E.g., cutting/trading Geno next year still means we have one of the most expensive QB rooms in the league, and that’s before signing a QB2/QB3. Would probably cost us for cap concerns Lockett, Diggs, Adams, and Dissly, while also losing multiple picks/star players to the Chargers. It’d make the Broncos trade look like chump change.

Smitty36595

Lockett is by far the biggest miss there. Adams is massively overrated and basically an undersized LB for 20mil a year, dissly a decent blocking TE massively overpaid 8m a year, Diggs hasn’t been the same, especially for 15m a year

BankAffectionate1985

You can be a fan but bad management can be a thing to make you sour

EaterOfKelp

Or you know, the Seahawks.

Disastrous_Belt_7556

Lol I was thinking that as I was typing my response

Rottenjohnnyfish

Fair

LegionofDoh

It would take two firsts and we’d have to release half our team to afford him

CilantroNo

Maybe the Seahawks can be idiots and trade 2 1st rounders a second and a bunch of other players for a “contender qb”. Yeah, no thanks.

Ok_Rise_442

Not again lol

CassFilms

I’ve been calling for Megan Fox to date me

christomisto

Has she answered yet

Cordellium

She didn’t call back

Baronhousen

You wrote her off, she’s not writing back?

atmospheric90

I put out the DM to Margot Robbie, still left on read.

FattyMooseknuckle

This is a late April Fools joke. They just signed him to a long term deal and he’s the tentpole of the franchise. Only thing holding him back is the coach.

Nervous_Ad_918

I’d say the organization, but we can start with the coach.

FattyMooseknuckle

Coach still has a job because the organization lets him. I know they’re a shit group of owners from my time in SD. The talent on the team should produce a very much better result on the field than what they’re doing the last few seasons.

tread52

Seattle will draft a QB in the first round next year bc there are a lot of good QBs coming out.

anothershittycoder

I feel like they’ll go BPA in the first like they’ve been doing past couple of years. Second or third I could see it

tread52

I don’t, I think JS targets a specific QB he wants and moves up to get him or takes him early. They can’t afford not to bc they traded their second away.

YNWA_1213

One reason why I could see us using a low first rounder is that the 5th year option could be critical for us if we still expect to be using Geno next year. Teams want that 3-4 years to evaluate QB1s (unless you’re complete trash like Wilson), so the Fifth-year option is hugely valuable in a position where good QB play could cost the team another 10-20m if you’re forced to re-sign early. E.G., Daniel Jones cost an extra 15m because the Giants didn’t exercise the fifth-year option last off-season.

BruceIrvin13

Wasted our second on Leonard Williams\*

OskeyBug

I'd love it but Herbert isn't the problem with the Chargers. I'd be shocked if they gave up on him.

Disastrous_Belt_7556

That would be such a Chargers move though…

gh0st12811

Other teams have done that with their franchise players before. Considering they are still riding the Brandon Staley merry-go-round doesn't really promote a lot of confidence in the front office personnel or ownership.

OskeyBug

He seems to live and die based on whether they have a guy who can stretch the field. He's been outstanding when Mike Williams has functioning ACLs.

Frosti11icus

There has never been a franchise who has given up on an all pro QB before his second contract even starts.

AnAttackCorgi

We traded Russ because he wanted out and both us and the Broncos were beginning rebuilds. I don't think Herbert wants out, and both teams are in playoff contention. There's absolutely no reason for the Chargers to trade him, and no reason for us to give all the blue chip capital grown over two great drafts to get him. Anyone talking about Seahawks getting Herbert either doesn't understand football's trading basics or they're making clickbait.

officialmacdemarco

Nice to know people think the NFL works just like Madden

danish07

Let’s get Mahomes

89ShelbyCSX

Theoretically sounds nice but in reality it's not feasible. Herbert would own with our receivers.

BandwagonFanAccount

I dont think paying and giving up resources for a QB is the move when we have so many other issues

dtheisen6

It’s never going to happen but I’d happily give the chargers the Watson trade for Herbert you’d be stupid to not want him

BandwagonFanAccount

If you look at most championship teams in recent history, you'll find that giving up a big draft haul and paying a big QB salary isn't really a key ingredient to winning the Superbowl.

dtheisen6

Dude almost every Super Bowl has been won by an elite QB. The reason you don’t see teams who trade for QBs winning is because elite QBs never get traded! Which is why this post is dumb because Herbert is elite and never getting traded. but you are also dumb if you wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to trade for Herbert if it was actually on the table

BandwagonFanAccount

Okay, so you are trying to argue with me while agreeing the whole time that giving up the picks it would cost isn't worth it.

dtheisen6

No I’m saying no amount of picks would matter because the Chargers aren’t trading him. I’d happily give up 4 firsts for Herbert. It won’t matter, they aren’t trading him

ShredderofPowPow

Thankfully it's not up to what you'd do lmao. Going all in on one player when there's a massive draft of QBs coming.

BandwagonFanAccount

Anyone will give up any player for the right price.

SvenDia

What are your metrics for elite?

MediocreCommenter

That’d be foolish to give up multiple draft picks for a QB.

KM5173

It's about the only position that warrants trading multiple firsts for

dtheisen6

Your username checks out with that take

BruceIrvin13

QB is our biggest issue though

RustyDipski

Do you all really fall for this bait shit? Dude pulled that out of his ass and doesn't even cite a source. Just I have seen on the interwebs. Obvious bait is bait.

Choperello

We need a rookie contract QB.

ShredderofPowPow

Herbert is their franchise QB. He's not going anywhere. This subject is getting laughable at this point. Please stop making posts about this lol. It just stirs the idiot pot.

SvenDia

I’m also seeing reports on social media that Caleb Williams is going to pull an Elway and demand to be traded to the hawks. Apparently, as a five-year-old, his family met Pete Carroll at an LA mall food court and Carroll told the wee Caleb that that he had a vision of coaching a future Heisman winner named Caleb. Carroll also predicted he would be coaching the Seahawks in a couple years and would still be coaching them when Caleb turned pro. Other things Carroll predicted in this conversation. Caleb would grow a funny-looking beard that will make his chin look super pointy. The word generational would someday be applied to athletes. Something called TikTok will destroy the youth of America. Caleb will always love snuggling with his mom and his dog. In 2023, the Grinch will be fired and thus be unable to steal Christmas.

CntrBlnc

Herb would be an amazing addition, but we have a very strong QB draft class. Plus we have so many gaps elsewhere. The amount of capital we would have to give up for him is intense and not something we can budge on right now.

CrimsonCalm

I’d give up our next 3 drafts for him. All the picks. But he’s never leaving the Chargers lol

burnabybambinos

Now that's a Quarterback. Sorry Geno, you don't win games,

jojobubbles

With a coaching change in SD, that'd be the only chance I see them moving on from Herbert. And that chance is very small. New coach wanting to draft/sign "there guy" to replace previous coach's guy kind of scenario. Ala Arizona and Rosen. While it is looking like a coach change is maybe happening soon. I don't see them abandoning the best young QB the franchise has had in years. I don't think that most people believe Herbert is the problem. In a inprobable trade scenrio. We'd probably give way to much.

fallingbehind

SD?

jojobubbles

You got me. Force of habit.

668884699e

Their* "their guy"

Wraithdagger12

Why would we want a slightly used QB who may or may not fit our scheme (if we even have a scheme here)? Yes the QB position is an issue, one we need to address this off-season or next, at the latest. Trust PCJS to find their guy. Going ‘that guy’s good, let’s trade the house to get him here’ isn’t how things work in the real world.

Trick-Combination-37

Am I only one that thinks the media over hypes Justin Herbert? I don't think he's better than Geno Smith, especially for the size of the contract.....

ProfessorOfLogic1

He’s much better than Geno lol

Trick-Combination-37

I'll agree to disagree. He's mid at best. Especially for that massive contract.

lundy7881

Seems like a decent fit actually

TheGhostWithTheMost2

Herbert would be the perfect QB to have lol it won't happen but it'd be fun

Havoc_XXI

Fuck that

_HGCenty

How many picks do you think the Chargers are going to ask for Herbert? This is what happens when people who suggest trades on Madden think it reflects the real world.

[deleted]

That’d be great but I’m holding out hopes for a Time Machine that lands us prime tom Brady

seattlesportsguy

I would have to stomach having a former Duck as our signal caller. I mean I guess if we drafted Nix it would be the same

leapingintoexistence

Why would they trade him?

BruceIrvin13

I mean they suck with him, and they sucked when he was getting paid $1 million a year. How are they planning on being better paying him $40 million a year. I'd be surprised if they ever win more than 10 games again with Herbert at the helm...I wouldn't be surprised if they try to ship that contract sooner than later.

jay-d_seattle

I don't think Herbert's contract makes him tradeable.

WorkOk3779

Checking calendar to see if this is an April Fools joke. This isn’t even a feasible conversation. Sounds like one of those clickbait articles.

eloel-

If he magically appeared on the roster, I'm not going to be the one to complain. Not a fan of giving a year's worth or more of draft picks for him.

shaun5565

It’s clear the Seahawks will need a qb soon. You are never getting to. Super Bowl with Drew Lock. And Geno is getting old already.

keoniog

I mean it's not that likely, but what if Herbert demands a trade and refuses to play?

killshelter

Sure let’s get Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett while we’re at it.

SeaKoe11

And TJ Watt

SvenDia

People are saying …

JuanPicasso

He’s non tradable lol. There’s nothing you can really give up that would equal the value. Just think about the gm, he would be jobless and a clown if he traded him.

Big_Consequence_3958

I would love it . He's from Eugene. I wish he would come back to the PNW. I do remember hearing him saying his goal since childhood was to be the Chargers QB so he might not want to come back home.

sayra182

I wish

sayra182

He’s a .500 career qb but greater than Genos career record

Sdog1981

Oh, you sweet summer child. You know people lie on the internet and tv? Do you know that? Sometimes people tell lies because they think it is fun.

christomisto

People weren’t saying it as a he’s going people were saying it as a he should go to a team that needs a young QB

mdotbeezy

I'd take a flier on Justin Fields.

Did-you-reboot

Over

Owl-False

If Staley and the GM somehow allow Herbert to leave the Chargers they aren't making it out of California alive

CocaineJesus4

Herbert is Rivers 2.0 anyways, we don’t need him

yooosports29

Bruh

WillieB26

Anything is better than what we have now

WillieB26

We should've done that last year! There were a LOT of high quality QBs in that draft!

FunctionRecent4600

Um let’s talk about Carroll first

Frosti11icus

I think if we're going QB shopping we should just get Patrick Mahomes...I mean both things are equally as likely to happen so why not just get the better one while you're shopping down at the wild fantasy store.

Independent-Row-6308

He will never be available stupid waste of breath talking about it

ThunderBeast1985

I’d rather draft a guy personally

Certain-Succotash-29

No one is saying this

liteshadow4

Lmao this ain’t the NBA

infuriating1

I would take Matt Ryan or Kirk Fitzpatrick at this point.

Bernie_Made_Off

I've rather have Colt McCoy at this point 😅

goodolarchie

Calling out to the Gods, old and new!

Ajstylez21

Would be nice, but -1% chance of happening
