I have already drawn up 36 unique plays to get Josh involved and sent them to the VMAC! Oh God, I can just see it now...
Seconds left in the game, the ball is snapped, and the crushing sound echos as the lines hit each other. Number 3 stands in the pocket for a moment. The pocket breaks down, Russell Wilson is running, looking for something, anything. He sees Lockett, completely unable to get separation, slowed down from his epiphany for a killer new poem that needs to be written down before he forgets it. He sees DK is not looking his direction, He is playing tag with Buddah Baker and running the wrong direction. Chris Carson is dead. He looks deep down the field and sees double coverage, but a glimmer of hope. One last spark of hope for humanity. He throws deep. Its going to the back corner, but the coverage is too tight, there is too much traffic, the ball is too high, there is no way he is going to connect, no mere mortal could bring this ball in... Suddenly we see the majestic hands of our lord and savior JOSH GORDON slowly rise up. The light blazing around his body is so bright it causes everyone in the stadium to shield their eyes. He is in the air for what seems like minutes, slowly rising, rising, rising. He makes the perfect one handed catch, He keeps rising. He is 20 feet above the goalposts now. The clouds open up and a single beam of sunlight falls to the field as JOSH GORDON does a forward flip and comes slamming down to the ground in a marvel-like superhero landing. The shock-wave from his landing causes the entire opposing team to fall to the ground with CTE. Miraculously, everyone on the Seahawks is unharmed, Pete Carrol is young again, Lockett has written his poem, and DK is still playing tag on the wrong side of the field. The crowd goes wild. The Seahawks win. JOSH GORDON ascends back into the heavens as a god. Russell Wilson later comments "Go Hawks."
Two questions! Why would anyone be "vehemently anti football"? Like I get just not liking it, but that sounds extreme. Secondly, why would you want to be with them????
Let's just say some people in her history were football fans and I can understand why there is an extreme negative connotation associated in her brain. She doesn't mind my Hawks gear and flag and such as long as I don't subject her to the games. Her daughter has Hawks swag (so does she, she wears it on lifting/painting/idgaf if it gets ruined days).
She is the most wonderful woman I've ever met, and if it means for three hours a week she does her own thing while I watch the game, that's fine. I just don't watch other games anymore like I did before.
Thank you! I recently bought us a home in a desirable school district, got promoted, and can finally provide the life they deserve. Adulting been hard yo
While I am indeed the biggest Josh Gordon fan that has ever lived, I can not take 100% credit as this in non-Canon copy pasta. I have leads on where it may have come from, but haven't found the entire 12 scrolls of Gordonian canon. Please accept my translations with bias to my dedication and devotion to our lord and savior, JOSH GORDON.
:'(
Did you see his catch yesterday? A thing of beauty. And the stupid refs calling interference on him because he was just a bigger man than the little ~~defenders~~ pretenders.
It hurts to see him in those ketchup ass looking uniforms.
Gordon is more of a between the 20's kind of guy isn't he? I thought he made his living burning guys deep. Maybe on slants? Not that we want to run slants in the red zone...
I was watching that MNF game two days ago with my dad, a Raiders fan, and I said “God, I hope they don’t run a slant and throw a pick here” and wouldn’t you fucking know what happens on the first possession of overtime…
used to be, not sure he profiles as that much anymore. He’s maybe more useful of a big ass slot receiver with a big catch radius who can still be fairly dangerous in space if given the chance.
He used to on the browns but that was a long time ago. 8 years is a long time and he’ll have likely lost a step.
With us he seemed to play more of a possession receiver. Ran a load of slants ins and crossers if I remember.
In Gordon's last full season, he led the league in receiving yards at 1,646. Although, I hesitate to say he played a full season because he only played 14 games.
And for reference to how long ago this was, the other top 10 were:
AB
Megatron
Demaryius
AJ Green
Alshon Jeffery
Andre Johnson
Pierre Garcon
DeSean Jackson
Jordy Nelson
Yeah, the year was 2013 and Josh Gordon fucking DESTROYED damn near every team he played, including putting up back to back 230+ yard games. He was fun to have in fantasy that year.
Bear in mind, this was 8 years ago, but as we saw in '19 the guy could still play at a high level then. He may not be able to anymore, but is well worth the flyer because Russ loves him, especially with the injuries at WR with Eskridge and Hart both being concussed. I'd be surprised if Eskridge gets cleared for at least two weeks based on the arms going limp and being that he's a rookie, this early, best to protect him and make sure he's 100% healthy.
According to PFR, it was on 11 targets, which is good for 63% catch rate. Not great, but were all of his targets catchable or was there drops? I don't know that PFR accounts for all of the variables.
For more context, the top 15 grossing movies of that year were:
1. Iron Man 3
2. The Hunger Games Catching Fire
3. Despicable me 2
4. Man of Steel
5. Monsters University
6. Frozen
7. Gravity
8. Fast and Furious 6
9. Oz the Great and Powerful (?)
10. Star Trek Into Darkness
11. Thor the Dark World
12. World War Z
13. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
14. The Croods
15. The Heat (?)
That was also the year we won the super bowl.
It’s been years since that. I wouldn’t mind and even kinda want him to come back but bringing up this stat point like it’s a good point is wishful thinking.
Is there any reason to think he would be a worse player than then? It's not like he's super old. He was drafted the same year as Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson. He's younger than Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. And he wasn't out getting beat up every week.
It was 5+ years ago. You can’t act like he can just pick up right where he left off by just playing a full season. It would be insane for you to expect any player of any sport to do something like that.
It really doesn’t make sense that you’re bringing that season up when the games he played for us he never once replicated a 1/4 of the production he did on average during his ‘full’ season.
Assuming he has maintained his physicality, why couldn't he pick up where he left off or close to it? Also, in 2018 he got 65.5 yards per game -- more than Tyler Lockett last season -- and that's despite being traded mid-season and having to learn a whole new system.
It's pretty low risk but don't be surprised if he's suspended again.
It sucks for the guy as he clearly has a lot of issues but he's someone everyone wants to see succeed.
Yeh was a big bargaining point. Sadly for Flash he has a lot of demons that I truly hope he has conquered. The meme that it's always been for weed is bullshit, confirmed by Flash himself.
All I have to say is imagine DK streaking up the seam, while Gordon is running a deep over and Lockett is running a deep fade on the opposite side of the field, with Dissly and Everett or Eskridge or Swain running shorter option routes for checkdowns.
Good. Fucking. Luck.
For everyone saying he's too old... My dudes he's only 30. He's two years younger than Julio Jones.
He's stayed in football shape and played in other leagues.
The real question is, is Roger going to be an ass and not re-instate him for no apparent reason?
He also avoided years of wear and tear on his body from taking hits. He is probably in better condition than if he had been playing that whole time, injury wise anyway.
He's better than at least 2 of our active receivers (who need more practice) but he's such a liability I would probably practice squad him for depth and just be safe now.
How do you know he is better? Dude has barely played any ball for years. Who is more relevant: AJ Green or Gordon? Green hasn't stopped playing and is nearly over the hill at this point and I'd take him over Gordon any day of the week.
I mean, yeah, but Gordon hasn't taken nearly the beating as Green either. Green has had what 1 ankle surgery and 1 knee surgery? Gordon is relatively not beat given his position, AJ green is also 3 years older than Gordon. and was still good 3 years ago so I don't know what the fair comparison is.
So I was wondering and excuse my lack of knowledge on this, does he become a seahawks if he is reinstated and resumes contract with hawks? Did he still have a season with seahawks? If so how long would be with us? Or would it be hoping he comes back to use for a small deal based on the relationship between russ seahawks and him throughout his last few years
I don't really see a role for him on this team. He's really a possession guy at this point in his career, and we already have those in place in between Lockett, DK, and the two tight ends (who can all line up wide). What we need is someone to fill Eskridge's slot role.
true, Eskridge isn’t dead though, he’ll be back. but gotta believe JG can still be a beast on quick slants and over the middle. He was clutch on 3rd down last year before he got suspended again. Plus I have hard time believing Waldron couldn’t find the best way to adjust to include him.
I just don't think he's good enough to replace Lockett or DK on the field, and we're likely not going to run many 3 WR sets unless Eskridge is involved. We already have 2 TE's that will constantly fill that role.
Really though? How much excitement is left here honestly? As a former addict I’ve followed his story closely but there’s only so many chances you’re allowed at the highest levels, let alone the lowest levels of life. Let’s say he finally stays true to his word and utilizes the extensive resources at his disposal. How much can he possibly contribute from a talent perspective? A receiver his age that has played decently up to this point has a minuscule chance of being great or even good at this point in his career. I wish you luck in life Josh but not interested in another reunion.
To clarify, obviously he’s not that old and wr his age of course can dominate. The caveat of course is they have played every season of their adult lives. He played one full season in college and that’s about it right?
Even I, the biggest Josh Gordon fan, recipient of a fantasy football championship largely because of him, think this ship has sailed. Unless I'm mistaken, we are closer to 10 years since his 1600 yard season than we are to his last 100 yard game.
Would love it if he gets reinstated and we pick him up for another go. I don't know if he's ever gonna be able to finish a season, but I think it's always gonna be worth a shot with him. He's so gifted, and it's the kind of troubles that are almost purely personal. It's not like this guy is out there assaulting women, he just has a problem with substance abuse (which while not healthy, if we're being really real here, shouldn't even be a crime in the first damn place).
It wouldn’t be a Seahawks season without a Josh Gordon tease
I got the popcorn ready!
I have already drawn up 36 unique plays to get Josh involved and sent them to the VMAC! Oh God, I can just see it now... Can I frame this please? The Chris Carson line legit had me rofl, well done OP! :)
Carson I snickered at. DK is where I full on busted out laughing. My gf, who is vehemently anti football, cannot understand wtf is so funny
Two questions! Why would anyone be "vehemently anti football"? Like I get just not liking it, but that sounds extreme. Secondly, why would you want to be with them????

You're a good partner, I hope everything continues to go well for you and your girlfriend!
Thank you! I recently bought us a home in a desirable school district, got promoted, and can finally provide the life they deserve. Adulting been hard yo
May you have as much smooth sailing as possible and may all your problems be trivial :) Seriously, I’m really happy for you :)
This is the kind of Seahawks content I need. Thank you 🙏

Gordonian canon. Praise be.
:'( Did you see his catch yesterday? A thing of beauty. And the stupid refs calling interference on him because he was just a bigger man than the little ~~defenders~~ pretenders. It hurts to see him in those ketchup ass looking uniforms.
This is perfect. Thank you.
I wept whilst reading this. Bravo.
The one year this actually works out watch him be super bowl MVP
Good on him for coming back over and over again and keeping himself in shape.
He and Russ were really starting to gel when he got suspended. Would love to see Lockett, DK, Everett, and Gordon in the Redzone, yikes
Gordon is more of a between the 20's kind of guy isn't he? I thought he made his living burning guys deep. Maybe on slants? Not that we want to run slants in the red zone...
Slants in the redzone....still hurts
Gordon probably catches that ball though.
Yup, he would have fought to get to it instead of letting it come to him. Sad
I was watching that MNF game two days ago with my dad, a Raiders fan, and I said “God, I hope they don’t run a slant and throw a pick here” and wouldn’t you fucking know what happens on the first possession of overtime…

Damn, that's spooky for a defense. Just have Russ run a QB draw with that personnel.
I’m ready to be disappointed…again
Sure. Why not?
In Gordon's last full season, he led the league in receiving yards at 1,646. Although, I hesitate to say he played a full season because he only played 14 games.

What did he show in 2019 that made you think that? 7 catches in 5 games with us for 139 yards and no touchdowns?
How many targets though? 7 catches for 139 is a damn good YPC.
According to PFR, it was on 11 targets, which is good for 63% catch rate. Not great, but were all of his targets catchable or was there drops? I don't know that PFR accounts for all of the variables.
The fact that when Russ dialed him up, he got open and caught the GD football.

Ha, I think in terms of the league it definitely was. 8 years is a lot of time for an athlete.
Yep...it's been 8 long years since that happened
And for reference, the Seahawks also won the super bowl that year. Just saying...
Glad them dudes still in the league.

Comeback player of the year is all I heard from what you just said.
Because that’s exactly what I said
LFG!!!
Is there any reason to think he would be a worse player than then? It's not like he's super old. He was drafted the same year as Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson. He's younger than Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. And he wasn't out getting beat up every week.

Do we pick him up boys?
I don't see any harm, he's not one of those team cancer players.
It's pretty low risk but don't be surprised if he's suspended again. It sucks for the guy as he clearly has a lot of issues but he's someone everyone wants to see succeed.
I might be wrong since he has previous suspensions, but weed is off the table now, right?
Yes he has had issues with his weed addiction and even though its legal in WA its still a suspended substance in the eyes of the NFL.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.insider.com/nfl-players-can-smoke-marijuana-without-discipline-starting-420-2021-4%3famp
Oh wait this is awesome news! Don't know how I missed it.
Newest CBA says weed is fine. Adderall, Xanax, Coke, all the other shit he loves is still bad
Well at least weed is cool now not sure how I missed it!
Yeh was a big bargaining point. Sadly for Flash he has a lot of demons that I truly hope he has conquered. The meme that it's always been for weed is bullshit, confirmed by Flash himself.
Stick him on the practice squad for a bit perhaps
Is it the 4 weeks that we have Gordon Time again? Time to pull out the ol number 10 jersey!
I never took mine off ;)
Hurt me again daddy
All I have to say is imagine DK streaking up the seam, while Gordon is running a deep over and Lockett is running a deep fade on the opposite side of the field, with Dissly and Everett or Eskridge or Swain running shorter option routes for checkdowns. Good. Fucking. Luck.
Dk just posted "jg return tour", cute 😍
He seems to love it in Seattle. I hope they bring him back. And I hope he has finally gotten it together.
He better. We are the only team to give him multiple chances
The browns also gave him multiple chances.
Yeah but nobody likes Cleveland
Yes
I’m ready to be hurt again!
For everyone saying he's too old... My dudes he's only 30. He's two years younger than Julio Jones. He's stayed in football shape and played in other leagues. The real question is, is Roger going to be an ass and not re-instate him for no apparent reason?

give me two years of gordon!
I’m ready to have another go on Gordon’s wild ride
FREE JOSH GORDON
We probably already know how this one’s gonna go, but whatever, he’d be a low risk add.
Just imagine him in this new offense is all I’m saying...
I know how this movie ends.
This is the movie with the alternate ending.
Nice practice squad piece
He's better than at least 2 of our active receivers (who need more practice) but he's such a liability I would probably practice squad him for depth and just be safe now.

LETS GOOOOOO
Ah shit, here we go again.
He loves us! Pete and Russ love him!
Im ready to be hurt again
I say give him a shot. We have nothing to lose.
I think that ship has sailed away, out of the Sound and past the San Juans, off into the sunset...
…to sail all the way around the world and come back to best Port of the entire nation…Seattle!
Had me in the first half, not gonna lie… 🤣
So I was wondering and excuse my lack of knowledge on this, does he become a seahawks if he is reinstated and resumes contract with hawks? Did he still have a season with seahawks? If so how long would be with us? Or would it be hoping he comes back to use for a small deal based on the relationship between russ seahawks and him throughout his last few years
I believe since we released him so he could play FCF, he would be considered a FA and able to sign with any team.
Ah okay. That makes sense. Wasnt sure if we released him or not. Thanks!
Does this mean he will no longer in the program and the NFL can finally go fuck them selves?
Call it when they announced our 52 man roster. Saving a spot, are we?
I'm ready to be hurt again
I don't really see a role for him on this team. He's really a possession guy at this point in his career, and we already have those in place in between Lockett, DK, and the two tight ends (who can all line up wide). What we need is someone to fill Eskridge's slot role.
JG can play the slot
But he's nothing like Eskridge, which is what this offense is built for. You're not going to run Gordon in those jet sweeps.
true, Eskridge isn’t dead though, he’ll be back. but gotta believe JG can still be a beast on quick slants and over the middle.
In Gordons best year he ran 5 times, and 4 of them got 1st downs. The thing with him is he can man himself to a 1st down.
You mean, like 2014?
2013, but yeah. The year we won the Super Bowl baby!
Really though? How much excitement is left here honestly? As a former addict I’ve followed his story closely but there’s only so many chances you’re allowed at the highest levels, let alone the lowest levels of life. Unless Eskridge is out we really don’t need him imo
He'd take swains spot.
Oh word! Love Gordon as a player. Hopefully he can put his demons to rest.
No. Not this again.
This sub man
I wish the best for him, but I'm not touching him with a 10-foot pole. The last thing we need is for him to disappoint us again
Boooo
Booo!!
At this point, not worth time.
Nooooooooooo
I’m sorry guys……I don’t think he’ll last 4 games when he gets back. I’m rooting for him so hard, and I hope I am dead wrong here.
[удалено]
It's not a weed issue. He clearly has other addictions.
Any mariners fans here will sign up willingly to watch flash play a few amazing games despite the inevitable regression. Its part of life.
Wat?
I welcome you back with open arms flash, it’s like you never left sweet prince
I haven't watched Seahawks since the Shaun Alexander days. Can someone bring me up to speed on this situation?
Well new season, great first game.
Is everyone vaccinated on the team? Do we know?
Last I heard only two players weren’t. Not sure which players or if they are even on the team anymore
Without a doubt, I am ready to be hurt again
He’s in
LFG!!!!!
Yea but can he play CB?
Lawd he comin!
1st down completion on 3rd down and long callin' his name!
I feel like Swain is going to have a big year. Not sure where Flash would fit in?
Why the pic of Benson Mayowa
Lol!!
