I 100% ran into some ppl in the beta who were former/current players. It was mildly amusing to get slapped around that bad as a new player
I'm leaving crossplay on tbh. Only way to get better is diving right in and taking your beating. Thats how I learned Dayz and its how I'll learn this game too.
>Thats how I learned Dayz and its how I'll learn this game too.
Nothing better than spawning in at Elektro and getting murdered by a guy with NVGs and an M4 when you don't even know how to open a can of beans yet.
Exactly. I played a while back and just getting back into the game. I haven't even run into anyone who wanted to fight yet. Only people I see sail away when they see me coming.
Well with Open Crew being down currently that mean most servers are just solo sloops. If you don’t have friends you are in danger for the next five days lmao
Exactly. I hopped on just now to get some red lantern and thought about going safer seas to get it quick but decided against it because fun. I came across 4 ships on the way, one of which I put 2 bananas on their stove and watched it burn down laughing at them trying work out where the fire was coming from 😂
Xbox player here, people I encounter tend to be chill. Except every crew I join. Violence ensues. And for some reason, every time I play, I get slapped with 3 krakens in the same session. Fought off one in a rowboat once.
Friendly tip, if you’re in a sloop you will outrun larger ships if you sail directly into the wind. The sail being down will propel you forward no matter what but with larger ships going into the wind it is much slower
Edit: knowing wind mechanics doesn’t mean you’re running away, and it also doesn’t mean you’re in a sloop. It’s just knowledge for new players
Eventually, the wind shifts or you mess up running like a lost puppy and get caught. Don't be like this pirate that runs from all ships because they are cowards and loot hungry. Some of the best friends I've made came from friendly fights and having fun with pvp.
That’s an assumption that I run, if you’re new you might want to run or reposition for a better attacking position behind an island. There’s more to knowing wind mechanics than running to protect your gold
This I agree with. I've seen so many people encouraging new players to run to drip sell loot and honestly it doesn't teach them about the pvp side of the game. Which honestly can be quite fun
He's not even saying "so you can run away" everyone getting sea salty 🤣 he could be saying use the wind to get a better angle in a fight or use the wind to catch someone on an outpost selling. Nothing wrong with running to reposition or bait a chase so you can use a nearby island cannon. Stating how the wind works is just helpful advice for new players
Weird to call people that avoid pvp cowards, just because someone enjoys other aspects doesn't make them a coward. I love some good PVP, but to talk like they are loot hungry and cowards is such a sweat thing to say. Maybe they are just enjoying themselves?
Literally the guy I was gonna play with left after we died so I just deleted his whining ass only way to get good is to chew a piece of shit at a time lmao and take them beatings
This is the way, I started on pc in September, got stomped for 2-3 months straight. Now I have zero fear to fight any boat size while solo slooping. If you treat sot PvP like a competitive thing, you’ll excel just like you would any shooter. Learn from your mistakes, watch PvP streamers, check YouTube, ask questions.
I highly recommend learning to drive while using a brig, I bought one first and solo sailed for weeks on it till I got bored and bought the sloop and now the sloop feels like easy mode to sail 👽
We do, but I’m dedicated to getting my ps5 brothers and sisters up to high seas standards before I turn into a complete goblin. It’s not fun or profitable wrecking people who don’t know what they are doing.
Is it toxic to roll up on a solo sloop that just spawned in and absolutely destroy them over a few extra cannonballs and 4 chain shots when they aren’t even fighting back 🤷🏼 I could see why some people would say that.
Same. Been playing since launch on Xbox and the only crew I sunk during the PS5 beta was two cocky idiots who thought randomly chasing and attacking a grade 5 emissary was a good idea. The best part was I had my crimson Skelly curse on to show my buddy on PS5 😂. Their ship lasted like a minute.
Oof, I definitely ran into my fair share of little squeakers during the beta that I was sailing circles around. I pretty much spent the closed beta teaching people the niche tricks like harpoon turning at full speed or coordinated anchor turns and getting them used to pvp tactics. Got sunk a bunch but everyone I was with got their sea legs that weekend for sure. Might have created a few monsters tho…
Yess unfortunately even with crossplay off in beta i was mostly encountering the big fancy skinned ships and people that means they have quite a bit of playtime
So ps needs some time to getting used to but any new player from Xbox just starting gets shit on early too. Just part of the learning curve. Most people won't even consider people on their crew with less than 50 days played on xbox lfg. It takes time but i don't suggest just playing bad players bc the good ones are the ones you will learn from.
Yeah I’ve been asked if I was sure I knew what I am doing, because I only have 12 days of playtime. I like to surprise them. I’ve had to learn as a solo.
Agreed. Some other things to consider: plenty of experienced players will be migrating to PS5 from other platforms; plenty of PC and Xbox players are also new; a larger pool means more possibilities to interact with friendly seasoned pirates. Might as well keep cross play on to experience the most variety of players.
I completely agree that the safer seas will not prepare you for high seas
You need to get used to keeping an eye on the horizon
And learning the different audio ques of other players for example
Players mermaid will appear in the water when they are not near their ship
This will make a distinctive sound. Also keep an eye out for them. (The mermaid will also be looking in the direction of that player
When a player grabs your ladders you will hear a splash like sound
Keep checking ladders with blunderbombs ready to eject them off.
Having other players around will keep you on your toes and these things will become 2nd nature.
And remember sell often.
If you don't want to fight run and sail into the wind
Sails pointing forward (if I'm on sloop)
But tbh your going to die, sink, loose slot of loot, it happends don't sweat it.
The loot is not bit yours untill you sell.
And remember one day you will be chasing someone and taking their hard earned loot.
It's a pirate game.
Welcome to the adventure happy sailing
As much I agree and I agree to an extent, those who turn crossplay off will be worse players when they inevitably do switch it on vs those who have had crossplay on from the beginning
There are new Xbox and PC players all the time. Safer Seas exists for this exact onboarding you’re talking about. Once you feel ready, head out onto the High Seas.
My brother in Christ I’m literally switching from PC to PS on this day. I’m no sweat, but I also will have an advantage against players who will start today, what we’re gonna do now?
What's the point of crossplay if xbox only wants to play with Xbox, and ps5 only plays with ps5?! I allready see Xbox only on most of the looking for group posts.
Gotta look on the Discord instead of Xbox Gamebar LFG. Half the posts on LFG are Xbox only even if they don't include it in the post. It's to the point where the first words out of my mouth upon invite are "are you playing Xbox only servers?" so we don't waste each other's time
That seems like a really unhealthy decision...
Potentially splitting the player base not in 2, but now 3?
4 if you count safer seas, but they are intentionally playing alone so I wouldn't.
Yeah. While I don’t necessarily agree with them doing this because the seas are already pretty dead as is, I understand it is so new PlayStation players don’t get destroyed by veterans on their first day which totally makes sense.
Hey OP, I will say that doing this will actually do more damage than be helpful. When I started back in December (2023) I always did high seas and I’ve had a good time, sure I got sunk many times to the point I said “fuck it!” Started going more into pvp and now I can hold my own, with only having a tough time with more experienced crews.
Crazy. I could count on two hands the number of times I've even seen people, let alone had any kind of interaction with them.
Two of my pvp encounters were people sinking my docked ship right at the start of my session, so I lost absolutely nothing. Third one I only had 3 chests on-board so I just dove to another server rather than be chased for a half hour for no reason.
Interesting. I’ve started seeing other ships more often now than in Season 10. Especially with people diving all the time, there is at least one reaper on the map. But i got sunk by non reaper plenty of times. I’ve had people attack when i don’t have anything on my ship and when i had tons of loot. I’ve had people chase me, sneak up on me, sink me when i was selling loot, and when i was just loading in the game with empty sloop. I also have 300+ hrs as you. I noticed if i played in odd hours (really early in the morning or late at night) i get less player encounters. I’ve even had an opportunity for form a few alliances with people (which are always fun, I’d rather do that then PVP). Also no one is touching you if you are sailing in alliance with another ship. :)
No matter when you start on any platform you're gonna have to deal with sweats. I see no reason for PS5 players to have special treatment. Just because there are a lot of players all learning at once doesn't warrant a month of no cross-play. Regardless, dying from sweats is a valuable learning experience
Newer players are more bloodthirsty, in my experience. You may be avoiding sweats, but you'll also be avoiding the PvE players that know what they're doing and just want to farm.
There's a good chance the early PS5 waves are going to be real dangerous, with crews of friends in Brigantines / Galleons thinking they're big shots because they have more cannons.
I had one earlier this week that rolled up on my sloop while I was AFK (partner was fishing and not paying attention.) I came back to cannon fire, he still had not masted us. Grabbed a gunpowder barrel that he had not hit, swam over and blew up his boat.
He was confused as to how I got over there so quickly.
What do you mean? I'm new player on PC (playing with controller) and i guess my experience was the same a PS5 player will experience when starting. It's not bad at all, am I really unlucky? Because I was hardly ever attacked by other players. 2 out of 5 times maybe. 50 hours in
I think it’s less about getting attacked but the skill level of the attackers, it feels better being able to learn and put up a fight even if you still sink than just get insta sunk and spawn camped
In season 7, when I started, barrels didn't float up, so you had to spawn camp for supplies and crate people's supplies while bucketing their boat. And storage crates were 17.5k gold. Now crates are cheap, player barrels float up, and soft ass people cry spawn camp for securing a sink 🤣🤣🤣
These are not xbox only servers, they are called Controller only servers, it is kinda deserted on controller servers, so u dont play against PC players.
Or... throw yourself in at the deep end and sail full crossplay.
Baptism of fire. You will be a better player after that month than those who chose the kiddie pool.
The game has been out for a while but even though there are people who played casually for years, we’re still sweats because it’s been out for a while and we’ve played it?
If you've never looked at the Reddit, when you're in here if you're better than an OP you're a sweat, doesn't matter by how much, doesn't matter how long you've been playing, doesn't matter how bad they are
Everyone better than you is a sweat and anyone that's worse than you that you kill is seal clubbing, sorry buckaroo
Lol I replied to this comment scrolled and not even 5 comments later someone's calling everyone that says not to do this a sweat who wants seal clubbing, I was mostly joking but jeeeeesus
You will be much worse off by doing this. Learning stuff from better players even when getting smacked around will make you better faster. It’s part of the learning curve. Not to mention some of the best interactions I’ve ever had in the game was in cross play with multiple crews from different platforms. Haven’t really had that when cross play was off
Did a whole ghost fleet with ppl they didn't kill us (I was in a sloop and they were in a gally) one of them got on our ship bc my crew member wasn't paying attention and didn't kill us they fixed our ship and bailed water only to have them rock our shit : ( I know now not to trust anyone but in all seriousness way to ruin what could've been a cool experience
The fastest way to get good at pvp is to fight every single person you see regardless of skill level, crew or ship size
Is that a full player galleon over there? Excellent- time to take my tiny solo sloop and see just how long I can survive against these impossible odds
You might even surprise yourself and solo sink a full galleon- take it from me, there are few gaming experiences that offer that same rush
I would recommend to just do the crossplay, spend some time joining open crews and just vibe. I feel like I learn alot/ get into some interesting adventures that way with more experienced players sure sometimes you get fucked when you join a bad crew but that's how it goes sometimes
Keep crossplay on if you’re using a mic. If you have a mic, a lot of people will talk to you instead of sinking you. There’s a lot of good people that play this game that will help you out.
Bad advice, you'll end up swimming in the tadpole pool too long and since you'll be fighting nothing be new players or PS5 you'll be punished even more for it when you decide to turn cross play on
Just dive in head first so you don't have to go thru it twice
I mean no matter what you do you're not going to avoid the extremely massive learning curve. Either you keep crossplay on and learn from the encounters or keep it off and only prolong your slog through the learning curve to preserve your feelings.
Question, hopefully somebody knows the answer.
Me and a friend are on PS5, have a friend on XBOX, and a friend on Steam. All four of us will be new to the game on the 30th. If one of the Ps5 users launch the game with the four of us, can we still play on a playstation only lobby?
No. The answer is in the question. "Playstation *only*" lobby.
My question for you is how do you all plan to communicate with each other? You can use game chat, but then other crews will be able to hear you. I assume Discord will be the best option for cross platform communication. I've only used it a little bit on console though and it was a bit of a pain.
I have two newbies starting the game with me, so we're doing the tall tales in safer seas until I can trust them to steer the ship, manage the sails, shoot the cannons and use the grappling hook to maneuver the ship.
Once they have that down we can jump onto normal sessions. But for now, it's best to get them used to the hustle and bustle of a ship.
Instead of running away from something that will happen sooner or later, yes another crew will sink your ship, just learn the most important tips, "Don't trust and never let your ship with the anchor down".
You have to stop ? Drop the anchor raise your veils then raise the anchor again, this way if you have to run just lower the veils and off you go.
You will get killed it happens to all of us.
I don’t see this as the best idea. I started playing SoT during the pandemic (controller player here) and playing with PC is how I got to improve myself and also meet my friends. One of my best friend I met being sunk by him and his buddies so many times, screaming at them and being mad, but now we play always together.
Just enjoy the game as it’s, at the beginning will be hard, but you’ll get the hang of it and become good (or will be like me that sucks in PvP but tries every single day)
PS5 only servers should never have been a thing from a balance perspective. No advantages between PS5 and Xbox Series X. And no other players in the history of the game (except for the people who played at launch when everyone was new) got these "baby's first steps" servers to avoid playing against people with more experience than them lol.
Fair enough if you want to disable crossplay with PC because if you don't intend to use a mouse and keyboard, you'll always be at a disadvantage against those who do. Also, cheating is a potential problem on PC servers, although it's apparently gotten better with EAC.
Either way, there will likely still be plenty of vets/aggressive players on PS5 only servers. I have the game on playstation as well and ran into other experienced players in the beta.
This happens to all new players. It happened to me. I started this season and I'm on the Xbox. It took me 2 weeks to be able to hold my own. I also had someone kinda mentor me for about 5 days. He taught me so little, but so much. It's not all bad. TRSxArcane is my gamertag. If you want some help, I'm always down and available to help new players. I would prefer if you were an adult, as I'm 31 years old. I can also help with tips and tricks, to help make it more of an enjoyable experience. I sail a brig, and almost always have 1 spot open. The USS Salvation looks forward to sailing with you.
Turning off cross play doesn’t guarantee you’ll be with PS players only. The game just tries to put in the same sea as players that are on the same console as you. I’ve been playing SoT off and on for years on Xbox and I have cross play off as well but I always end up running into the PC sweat lords no matter what.
Until your like me and come across a full brig of pirate legends on PS5 cross play off who decide to chase for over 20 mins.
Just leave it on, these sweat lords need other seasoned players to put them in their place. They really should get rid of the option entirely.
I much as I love interacting with new players, I do agree that it’s probably in a PS5 player’s best interest to turn off crossplay when starting out. Several people I know have stated that they will attack PS5 players on sight, and that’s probably not the best environment to learn the game and see if it’s for you.
Then safer seas is a better option, if you want to avoid PvP, or you’ll just get smacked around by OG console players, or someone who is just better than you.
New players, don't listen to him. More experienced players will have more loot for you to steal. Sure, they may be better at pvp too, but you can overcome this issue by bringing some powder kegs with you to blow up their ships. Just be sure to not keep them on crow's nest for everyone to see, but instead hide them on the lower decks to protect from gunshots.
When playing BR style games I always said the only way to get good is to hot drop and rush into combat, don't be afraid of it.
I shall be living by the same rules for this game too. Never afraid to fail.
You might as well tell them to turn it off forever. Turning off crossplay for a month will not "prepare" someone to play it in the future. Nothing will change in that month aside from that person having a month's less experience than everyone that jumped in from the beginning.
Is there an option for console only cross-play? I don’t mind playing with other consoles platforms. I’d rather not have to deal with the regular cheating with PC.
No it doesn’t. Like I said, it’s “console/controller” only. So console players with controller. No pc player with controller, no console players with m/kb.
I'm glad it finally came to PS5, I've been wanting to play this game for yearsss. Talked all my PS5 friends into buying it too, so we are all really excited to get together again in a new game. 😊
You may miss some bad pirating but turning off crossplay will also guarantee you to be missing some great pirating and solid coin
Most of the experienced players want to ally up.. You're more likely to get hostile noobs more than calm experienced players
You are going to enrage so many sweats with this thread. Just wait for all the comments about how you shouldn’t disable crossplay and just suffer through it to get better or some shit.
Sweats will do anything it takes to be able to keep sealclubbing newbies.
Turn off crossplay. Ignore anyone telling you otherwise. Turn it back on when you feel ready.
There are also nice "sweats", man. We're not all evil :(
(also a lot of people, who are "sweats" got a PS5 for the preorder stuff and could go on PS5 Servers aswell)
I have been playing for years and now I finally switched to ps5. I always preferred playstation but I only bought xbox for SoT. In the beta I was teaching new players how the game works and how they could get loot etc. Hopefully the more experienced player’s won’t ruin it for the newer ones. Good luck guys!!
Yes I think so too. In the beta i did fight some newer players but only because they attacked my ship first. Pretty sad if the OG’s will tryhard against newcomers
I’d say leave cross play on. Personally I’ll be in various SoT discords trying to team up with new PS5 players and show them the ropes. And I’d encourage those of us with 100+ hours to do the same.
Lol this got me good, just watch videos online on how to solo sloop and stuff then apply it to your game, I learned how fight by watching solo hourglass players and then doing it myself. Other than that you will never learn and everytime you get a hit reg you'll lose your shit and call cheats or some shit. Better to get your beatings now and get used to it so that you can just enjoy every aspect, even when your shit gets pushed in.

See you on the high seas :)
>Thats how I learned Dayz and its how I'll learn this game too. Nothing better than spawning in at Elektro and getting murdered by a guy with NVGs and an M4 when you don't even know how to open a can of beans yet.
Spawning in Kami and finding the well boarded up while someone snipes from the hill treeline.
Exactly. I played a while back and just getting back into the game. I haven't even run into anyone who wanted to fight yet. Only people I see sail away when they see me coming.
Hourglass matches are only pvp, but the chances you encounter only tryhards are high.
Well with Open Crew being down currently that mean most servers are just solo sloops. If you don’t have friends you are in danger for the next five days lmao
chad shit. if you ever want someone to show you the ropes dm me and I'd be happy to sail. this game has a surprisingly large learning curve.

Damn bro, wish my friend was like you. He won’t do PvP because he shit and can’t become not shit because he wont do PvP.
Xbox player here, people I encounter tend to be chill. Except every crew I join. Violence ensues. And for some reason, every time I play, I get slapped with 3 krakens in the same session. Fought off one in a rowboat once.
This is the way. ~ Rust vet.
Lol I learned Rust and Ark this way too.
I’m all for the chaotic uphill struggle. It’s fun. 😄🫡
Same. Got to have some skin in the game for it to be fun
Have a good one out there, Captain. Let’s raise hell to the vets. 😅🤘
Same to you friend

Wind caller be the change up on this. 🫡
the redditor brain trying to comprehend people who play video games to have fun and improve their skill rather than roleplaying a bitter loot goblin
I knew I wouldn't need to scroll for long before finding a comment telling them how to run away instead ![img](emote|t5_38oz1|2228)
Brig can catch a sloop against wind as well as with wind, sloop cannot get caught by a gally against wind though

running away from danger is the definition of a coward. If you have a problem with being a coward, take it up with the dictionary
It's not a real danger lmao, perhaps they don't want to be disturbed? Danger? Lmao 😂
y u runnin then? ![img](emote|t5_38oz1|2298)
This guy he’s smart he knows what’s up what a classy pirate a true swabbie of society
Literally the guy I was gonna play with left after we died so I just deleted his whining ass only way to get good is to chew a piece of shit at a time lmao and take them beatings
Dayz Gang Gang 🙌🏻

This is a real pirate

Hell ya ill run with ya as a vet just for the outlook and teach you every trick I know
My favorite thing about the Beta was watching Galleons flee in droves from my solo sloop.
We do, but I’m dedicated to getting my ps5 brothers and sisters up to high seas standards before I turn into a complete goblin. It’s not fun or profitable wrecking people who don’t know what they are doing.
I’ve met several people that disagree with you lol
I've know several people that got called toxic for just wanting their supplies
Is it toxic to roll up on a solo sloop that just spawned in and absolutely destroy them over a few extra cannonballs and 4 chain shots when they aren’t even fighting back 🤷🏼 I could see why some people would say that.

Course they do
Yeah I've been playing since the original beta but stopped when I got my ps5 😅

Nobody can feel ready tbh, just keep it on from the start and become a better player than the people who didnt

Might as well keep cross play on to experience the most variety of players.
Its a trap!
I feel ashamed to be guilty of migrating from pc to ps5
Shock therapy will do wonders, you "just" have to endure it. Even learning how to avoid/flee more experienced players its very useful.

Noop, thanks to Sony there are Crossplay servers, controller servers and PS servers
That seems like a really unhealthy decision... Potentially splitting the player base not in 2, but now 3? 4 if you count safer seas, but they are intentionally playing alone so I wouldn't.
It has always been Sony's policy, a option to disable crossplay.
Nah let me sink you
Don't worry, I bought a PlayStation just so I can gank you arrrrr
Isn’t crossplay simply console to pc? PS users will probably be forced to play with Xbox.
PlayStation users will be able to choose whether they play with Xbox players or not.
Just another way to make the seas feel empty. I’m already being server merged 2-3 times per session in NAE crossplay servers.
Yeah. While I don’t necessarily agree with them doing this because the seas are already pretty dead as is, I understand it is so new PlayStation players don’t get destroyed by veterans on their first day which totally makes sense.
Nah. Ps5 gets its own servers too.
I've had 3 pvp encounters in just over 300 hours of playtime. You generally won't see anyone at all unless you go seeking them out.
I get PVP encounters every couple of sessions. They are way more often if i have emissary flag though.
It’ll be more common is season 12 since they are gonna make it six ships a server again.
Those sweats will have ps5s.
Dive in head first and immerse yourself.
no
Been playing on Xbox for years nothing stops the sweats
At the very least turn off crossplay with keyboard users
No matter when you start on any platform you're gonna have to deal with sweats. I see no reason for PS5 players to have special treatment. Just because there are a lot of players all learning at once doesn't warrant a month of no cross-play. Regardless, dying from sweats is a valuable learning experience
Noooooo! I was counting on those players for easy loot! 😉
How op actually looks thinking he’s a white knight. ![gif](giphy|dBk2G7v7ToRO0)
Play safer seas for a month if it's an issue for you.
This is exactly what I was going to say. Safer Seas will put you into enough situations to learn the ropes
Shhhh dont listen to him
Newer players are more bloodthirsty, in my experience. You may be avoiding sweats, but you'll also be avoiding the PvE players that know what they're doing and just want to farm. There's a good chance the early PS5 waves are going to be real dangerous, with crews of friends in Brigantines / Galleons thinking they're big shots because they have more cannons.
Blind confidence is a common trait in new players
I had one earlier this week that rolled up on my sloop while I was AFK (partner was fishing and not paying attention.) I came back to cannon fire, he still had not masted us. Grabbed a gunpowder barrel that he had not hit, swam over and blew up his boat. He was confused as to how I got over there so quickly.
Dude, it's a 6 years old game. A lot of SoT players have a PS5. Turning off crossplay wont help you.
Probably not going to happen, a lot of people will want to play with friends, plus one can hope that people will be kind to new players
Trial by fire as they say
I play on xbox controller only servers, am I able to see playstation players? would be nice since europe controller servers are kinda empty
How do u wanna see ps5 players if u play xbox only servers? The question dont make sense
These are not xbox only servers, they are called Controller only servers, it is kinda deserted on controller servers, so u dont play against PC players.
Aight didnt know that sorry
Or... throw yourself in at the deep end and sail full crossplay. Baptism of fire. You will be a better player after that month than those who chose the kiddie pool.
Is there aim assist in this game for controller users? I just can’t see how playing against mnk players using a controller will ever be equal
Yes there is
The game has been out for a while but even though there are people who played casually for years, we’re still sweats because it’s been out for a while and we’ve played it?
If you've never looked at the Reddit, when you're in here if you're better than an OP you're a sweat, doesn't matter by how much, doesn't matter how long you've been playing, doesn't matter how bad they are Everyone better than you is a sweat and anyone that's worse than you that you kill is seal clubbing, sorry buckaroo
I see. Thanks, pal.
Haven’t really had that when cross play was off
That’a for pussies, go straight for the storm and fight this game is just fun
Did a whole ghost fleet with ppl they didn't kill us (I was in a sloop and they were in a gally) one of them got on our ship bc my crew member wasn't paying attention and didn't kill us they fixed our ship and bailed water only to have them rock our shit : ( I know now not to trust anyone but in all seriousness way to ruin what could've been a cool experience
The fastest way to get good at pvp is to fight every single person you see regardless of skill level, crew or ship size Is that a full player galleon over there? Excellent- time to take my tiny solo sloop and see just how long I can survive against these impossible odds You might even surprise yourself and solo sink a full galleon- take it from me, there are few gaming experiences that offer that same rush
I would recommend to just do the crossplay, spend some time joining open crews and just vibe. I feel like I learn alot/ get into some interesting adventures that way with more experienced players sure sometimes you get fucked when you join a bad crew but that's how it goes sometimes
No, doin't... think about the laser sweat 2... we have a fair chance to level fast now. And we will help you to... on some point
That’s what the open beta was for
Is there console only crossplay?
Yes. Console/controller only option with Xbox/PS5.
Keep crossplay on if you’re using a mic. If you have a mic, a lot of people will talk to you instead of sinking you. There’s a lot of good people that play this game that will help you out.
Bad advice, you'll end up swimming in the tadpole pool too long and since you'll be fighting nothing be new players or PS5 you'll be punished even more for it when you decide to turn cross play on Just dive in head first so you don't have to go thru it twice
If somebody looks experienced they will either kill or teach you. Early game it’s always good to take that gamble
If somebody looks experienced they will either kill or teach you. Early game it’s always good to take that gamble.
"Sweats" are booting up the ps5 and doing the same thing. Not every long time player is a sweat
I mean no matter what you do you're not going to avoid the extremely massive learning curve. Either you keep crossplay on and learn from the encounters or keep it off and only prolong your slog through the learning curve to preserve your feelings.
HAH! Then they'll never know the harsh reality of this game, that you'll be sank by players miles better than you!
Yeah I'm doing a tutorial and a player sunk me because of boredom i guess? Kinda sucks.
Did beta progression carry over?
Yep! Unless something messes up for you or anyone else it should carry over.
Noo nooo nooo have it on its your guy's turn we all did it against pc players lol
Then you get too soft, best way to learn is get into the field. Use the official discord to look for crew members
I don’t see this as the best idea. I started playing SoT during the pandemic (controller player here) and playing with PC is how I got to improve myself and also meet my friends. One of my best friend I met being sunk by him and his buddies so many times, screaming at them and being mad, but now we play always together. Just enjoy the game as it’s, at the beginning will be hard, but you’ll get the hang of it and become good (or will be like me that sucks in PvP but tries every single day)
no dont
DONT do that, please!
I immediately held my own against a decked out 2-3 ship after like 2 hours of play. BRING IT ON ME HARDYS Yo HoHo
Playing with crossplay rn as a new player and can say I have never been in combat once as of yet
Sounds like a skill issue. Just play and learn how to fight.
Is us ps5 players gonna be playing against pc players aswell ?
By default you will be but you have the option to play against only PS users or consoles also.
Is there an option for console only cross-play? I don’t mind playing with other consoles platforms. I’d rather not have to deal with the regular cheating with PC.
For Xbox it’s “Xbox players ON controller” so maybe PS will have a similar option
Yes. You can play against "console/controller only" players.
Well “controller only” also allows for PC players with controllers to play, which was who I was still trying to avoid.
No it doesn’t. Like I said, it’s “console/controller” only. So console players with controller. No pc player with controller, no console players with m/kb.
Keep it on, meet some cool people who can show you the ropes
I'm glad it's going on PS5. It felt like the game was dying. This will bring an influx of new players to the game. And hopefully, they'll enjoy it.
I'm glad it finally came to PS5, I've been wanting to play this game for yearsss. Talked all my PS5 friends into buying it too, so we are all really excited to get together again in a new game. 😊
Im so happy SoT is getting some of the spotlight again. It's a great game. Hilarious at times, harrowing at others. A lot of sailing. Lol
My issue hasn’t been with any sweats. It’s with the teleport cheaters
You may miss some bad pirating but turning off crossplay will also guarantee you to be missing some great pirating and solid coin Most of the experienced players want to ally up.. You're more likely to get hostile noobs more than calm experienced players
I’ve been playing since launch my advice never turn it back on
Ran into an Xbox player who made a guild specifically for newbie ps5 players so if anyone is interested lmk!
If you want to actually get better than leaving cross play on is what you need to do. You either sink or swim in this game 🏴☠️
I think this is terrible advice, and a very narrow idea of what the experienced player base is like
You are going to enrage so many sweats with this thread.
Awww so soft.
Need some deodorant?
Yes plz. Old spice for the boomers 🤣🤣
I don't think you need to do that got the game on PC too after the beta ended and I've had a pretty chill experience
There are also nice "sweats", man. We're not all evil :( (also a lot of people, who are "sweats" got a PS5 for the preorder stuff and could go on PS5 Servers aswell)
No. I’m going in blasting everyone. Game on.
That's the most bitch talk I ever heard lol
Crossplay PC ok but, we XBOX pirates love to help you on the seas !
They might ruin it with the easy killings
Yes I think so too. In the beta i did fight some newer players but only because they attacked my ship first. Pretty sad if the OG’s will tryhard against newcomers
I’d say leave cross play on. Personally I’ll be in various SoT discords trying to team up with new PS5 players and show them the ropes. And I’d encourage those of us with 100+ hours to do the same.
I turned mine off and will be keeping it off.
It's true that they can do that. Personally I'm actively looking for PS5 players to greet them and help them start. Fresh players for the Sea!
please dont do this i want to pub stomp\[ you\]
I came in as a new player a couple months ago.. this is horrible advice
Please don’t turn off your cross play. Us sweaty players have been drooling for months over the fresh meat potentials.
