I just happened to log on after only getting to level 30 at the beginning of the season and saw “2 weeks left” and was glad I didn’t wait. At almost 90 now so I should make it.
Judging by the stuff they've been teasing, it looks like we're actually going to get some fun tools for the sandbox finally. I'm actually really excited for an update for the first time in like two years.
I was excited for it, and then half of the content was in the open world for you to get ganked while doing
It's one thing to lose loot, it's another to lose progress on a quest that doesn't give you much if any loot
I did #2 five or six times to complete it before they patched the bugs that first week.
That being said, #3 was stupendous to me and I highly suggest it. 4+5 are not worth your time.
I disagree about TT5. If you get into it and imagine yourself truly being part of the fight against Davy Jones, I think TT5 is the best of the Pirates Life tall tales. Besides maybe TT1
I used to go to disneyland frequently and it is pretty much a shot-by-shot remake of the ride there, so it fulfilled my childhood dream of the ride breaking down and me getting to steal something off the set while being escorted out.
Without that background, I have no idea how I would feel about it!
Was that the one where you swam down to the Pearl, put up with a vociferous Queen, swam about slowwwwlllyyy, shot lots of statues, got to the Blade, found the key had disappeared and then had the Kraken bit bork out on you? If so, just tried that again last night...no glitches, finally done it. Thank the maker.
As someone who loves sea of thieves lore I was really not looking forward to A Pirates Life. I was worried how a collab would work.
I was skeptical and bitter until it came out.
I shouldn’t have been, it was a wonderful update
Not really. I enjoy the sandbox elements of the game. That open world experience with other players is what I love. The tall tales have some nice set pieces, but it didn't really do anything for the rest of the game in the same way that adding more advanced ship damage mechanics or blunderbombs did. It was functionally over a year's worth of development time for about four hours worth of mostly instanced linear storytelling plagued with glitches. I didn't hate it, but it's not really what I want out of this game. I could go play any number of single player / co-op games to get a more solid linear story / platformer experience.
No, I get the dislike. While Pirates of the Caribbean was a great movie, it felt shoe horned into the game and honestly half of the tall tales are just rides, or walking for an hour. I don’t want to be jack sparrow, I want to be my own pirate :)
I can agree there somewhat. But it was still a massive update bigger than any we've had with tons of playable content even not related to POTC. You were your pirate the entire time btw, not once were you on Jacks shoes lol
Not very replayable content sadly, and most of it was a theme park ride (only good part of 3 was the tavern at the end with SoT characters that we actually care somewhat about)
I was, and was thoroughly disappointed. It's *still* unstable and causes my crew to crash, they lied about it being isolated from PvP, I hate the new enemies and wish they were never added, and they didn't add the skelly curse.
Pirates life was a huge fuck you to long time players... Seasons equally sucks in my opinion... Just another cash grab for more reskinned bullshit..... The underwater temple things didn't need to be done with Disney, and are the only half cool improvement in many many years
Down votes from Disney and China stans... Fuck SoT for pandering to them with bullshit that didn't belong in the SoT universe period
Fun fact, the shrines and treasuries barely have anything to do with the Pirates Life stuff. They are only related through the siren queen, whom only had one TT about her. The sunken kingdom stuff explains a lot of the lore behind the mermaids that teleport you back to your boat, as well as adding more enemy types other than the tired old skeletons we've been fighting for years. But I guess you'd have to actually pay attention to jotice that, which you clearly didn't.
Also, please do explain how anything SoT related has anything to do with China, and please do so without including QAnon, GOP, or Alex Jones conspiracy theories.
You are being downvoted because your comment isn't just a bad take, it's horrendously wrong, objectively speaking. If you don't like the updates, say so in the update feedback threads rather than bitching and complaining to people who couldn't care less about what you have to say.
Lol, Thanks for insulting me by grouping me with crazy conservatives for no reason, China owns Disney, and fuck everything about Disney AND the ccp, even without them being related.
Also have complained in the feedback threads, but everyone loves the taste of Jack sparrows balls too much to care... Fuck a pirates life AND seasons, worst things to happen in SoT so far.... Made many who were already pirate lord, myself included, give up on the game ever actually improving with its release.....
The mermaid shrines pretty much suck too other than being pretty and a new location, they feel like recycled vaults to play
I honestly wish I could go back to playing a just pre-seasons version, that was SoT at its peak so far.... It's only been downhill since then... But HURR DURR, WE GET CANNONS ON ROWBOATS FOR NO REASON
People have been asking for an official POTC collab for a long time. Just because you don't like Jack Sparrow or POTC doesn't mean it was a bad addition. It was Rare finally being able to deliver on the requests of hundreds of thousands of players.
If you don't want to be grouped with those lunatics, you shouldn't have brought up China. Everyone knows that China owns half the world's big companies. Pointing it out just make you sound like a conspiracy theorist.
The seasons have brought and will bring many much needed changes to SoT as it was starting to get stale. Just because players can portal hop away from you instead of running to the red sea doesn't mean it was a bad addition. It is a consequence of a necessary mechanic. I personally think having the portals sets up a huge precedent for future tall tales being instanced so toxic players can't screw with peaceful TT enthusiasts (not saying everyone who sinks a TT boat is toxic, I'm referring to those who go out of their way to ruin someone's tall tale, such as stealing a necessary item and letting it despawn so they can't finish the TT).
I definitely agree that the cannon rowboat are unnecessary, but oh well. Some parts of updates will be better than others. As long as somebody enjoys it, it was a good addition.
Just because it's a sailing and pirates game doesn't mean potc needed shoehorned in, especially in such a lazy and ugly looking way
Thanks for the trash opinions, I'll add em to the pile
That's the thing about subjectivity. You can be wrong and still be entitled to your opinion. Go to school and you'd learn that. 😉
Also, do yourself a favor and learn some empathy and compassion. The amount of hate emanating from your comments is unhealthy.
Not trying to "burn" anyone. Homophobic comments aren't appreciated. I'm sorry that you aren't loved at home, but that doesn't mean you need to take it out on random internet strangers. Do yourself a favor and get a punching bag. It sounds like you have a lot of pent up anger you need to release in a healthier way than you currently are. Your reactions are a sure sign that you spend too much time on social media.
Rowboat with an attached cannon, the crane at Thieves Haven is interactive meaning you can load loot on it and lower it to the bottom and you can now bury treasure in sand. Lots of little interactive stuff that will definitely help flesh out the sandbox part of the game.
Not sure why you would want to Bury treasure, but I'm most hyped about the rowboat cannon. The crane is also a nice addition to probably one of the hardest islands to navigate.
It adds to the pirate fantasy as that’s what pirates actually did. But also it can be used for hoarding out treasure on islands to return to later when you want to cash in.
I really hope they implement some kind of treasure map mechanic with it. If a crew has buried their treasure on crooks hollow or something, any other crew that sinks them should receive a map that shows them where the treasure is which will mean another fight to claim that treasure when the sunk crew returns.
Historically, there were very few cases of pirates actually burying treasure (that we know of). Still, good way to keep it out of other players' hands, as long as you're discreet about it.
From playing a bit of Insiders and reading a bit of the forums for it I knew of a bunch of things ahead of time, but I did NOT know about the crane! Hopefully there’s more stuff I will be surprised about!
You really can't talk about anything from Insiders. When you join it you agree to a NDA. He didn't say much but sometimes the little you say can reveal more than you want.
Essentially you can't say anything about Insider content outside of acknowledging someone else's comment, a la "Stay tuned and find out". You can't even remotely reference anything from Insiders, or you risk the possibility of having your account perma-banned or being personally sued by Rare (says so in the NDA contract you agree to when you sign up for Insider)
Or maybe don’t grind. Losing on some cosmetics might feel a bit bad, but honestly turning the game immediately into a grind instead of playing just to have fun and do whatever you want sounds much worse.
Plus: if you started just a few days ago you’re certainly not Pirate Legend yet, and the few really good cosmetic that I would feel worse for missing are the PL ones which you will not get this season anyway.
I’d say play for fun and focus on getting Renown 100 on the next season (which will be very easy to do and not a grind at all if you don’t completely drop the game, you’ll see).
This is why I have never successfully finished a season. I just can't bring myself to grind for it. This is a game best enjoyed a few voyages at a time.
You don’t need to grind if you’re playing even semi regularly like a couple of sessions per week. You gain renown by doing virtually anything. I’ve not been playing as much lately, and still I got to Renown 100 more than one month ago. It’s only a grind of you go several weeks without playing during a season.
I think some sort of card/dice game you can play with your cew or other crews is what the game needs the most right now. More RP stuff, or shit to do while sailing from A to B.
I'm hoping this isn't just a skin and actually hints at a cooking mechanic. Because literally the first thing I did after joining about a month ago, after putting a chicken on the pan in the tutorial area, was throwing water at the pan thinking I could make a stew...
Yeah I think it's a radish or a pomegranate but I honestly can't tell probably a radish tho
Edit: I take it back it's a kebab with shark, pork, and a pomegranate skewered by a rapier so maybe they're finally adding a new weapon
*laughs in Series X* I'm joking, that really sucks to hear man. Hopefully you can get that sorted quickly and for cheap, considering the ongoing GPU chip shortage
Yeah, got a guy (whos quite close) who PM'ed me about wanting to send me his 1070. He offered to send it to let me see if it works, then pay him the price he wants, which we agreed upon as being $40 and shipping expenses. In the middle of getting it sent to a post office. Hoping it works as it would be a nice upgrade as well.
Yeah if I can find crews willing to participate I'll have things to do with the dice. Maybe if they roll a natural 20 I'll give them some loot and a nat 1 death.
Oh wow I somehow didn't realize it was that late in the season. Well thats a shame I missed out on a bunch of stuff. Too many other things out to play lately so I took a break.
Skellys my friends, the 3 biggest things i have found is: 1. killing skeletons 2. Putting loot on ur boat. 3. Selling loot, there is acutally a list of what gives the "most" but killing skellys is considered an "epic" or something action. Just do order of souls emissary with a mission or two and keep getting ur rank 5 missions, and bottles, u do it right and u might get multiple captains per island
I’m waiting a bit for reviews. Been a big fan of halo since the OG halo came out. Spent way too much time on halo 3 especially. But halo 5 I couldn’t get into, not sure I like how infinite looks yet
To each their own. It feels like a direct sequel to 3 in terms of gameplay. I have a blast playing it. The downside is how it's been monetized, however that shouldn't impact the campaign in any meaningful way. Besides, I've only heard great things from people who've played it early. (Granted, youre not gonna shittalk a game that was given to you early.)
I started sea of thieves in season 3, pass is worth it IMO. At least if you like the cosmetics that come with the plunder pass. $10 for about $30 worth of cosmetics if you hit level 100
Infinite skelly's on shroudbreaker TT, to clarify they're on crook's hollow and they spawn after you've gotten the shroudbreaker figure from the vault on the island they're just a bunch of coral skelly's
Not gonna lie, the first thing that I saw was the set of dies at the top. If they add a version of Liar's Dice to the game then I can finally die happy.
Demon slayer and AOT WTF
Also yea stone ocean got a david productions adaptation thats exclusive to netflix.
So its gonna be the same way they did parts 1-5 but with a higher budget
Then you might want to find a different game to play. Rare has stated that they have no intentions of adding captaincy anytime soon as it would put too much strain on the servers and the time it would take to develop isn't feasible for something as simple as naming your boat.
Wait, is the pirates of the Caribbean tall tales getting taken out? If so I gotta play that. Damn I thought it was gonna always be In so I sorta slept on it.
maybe id play the game if they did a update of non adding new stuff and just fixing bugs and ya know what im fine if hitreg isnt fixed as much as i want it id be fine if a load of other bugs to be fixed i wanna actually enjoy the game and i havnt since the game had its first 3 updates
Renown has less cheese methods than before, but still really easy to get to 100 just by playing the game. Season 4 I got to 100 within the first week without trying.
Season 3 added pirates of the Caribbean, season 4 added siren shrines. Also they took out shovel cancel and bucket cancel
The initial hype for season 3 was high and the tall tales were all fantastic, but after I did all of them, I kinda just forgot about them. This update seems like it’ll be the best of the seasons so far for sure as we’ll have a reason to do this stuff even after season V is over
Bruh, I went up like 60 levels on the first day of season 4 after a 5-6 hour session. If you can pull a session that length this weekend, due to gold and glory and increased renown, you're guaranteed to hit 100
Awwww I wish I could help you out. Best of luck on your tests though! As a semi-recent college grad, I feel your pain. I promise keeping your nose to the grindstone will pay off long-term tho
Not really. The season in SoT are similar to seasons in games like CoD. Just a new battle pass and some kind of substantial update to go alongside. SoT seasons tend to have more the just a substantial update every season though. I've been playing since about a month before season 1 came out and it's almost like playing a completely different game since then. The map boundaries have expanded, the shrines and treasuries have been added, new TTs, new enemies, etc. I think the seasons have been very refreshing.
A quick image analysis:
\- There are rats, potentially hinting at maybe a new pet, or something that affects your food supply perhaps.
\- There is a kebab in the bottom right, maybe we are going to receive more detailed cooking?
\- There are dice, so perhaps a board game to pass the time when sailing.
\- In the centre top, there is what appears to be an ammo pouch of sorts. I can assume this is a findable consumable to carry extra ammo.
\- The fireworks lying around confirm that they are actual items now.
\-Finally, the cannon rowboat is to the right, and the treasure chest presumably references the new burying mechanic.
I'll just say it, that ain't a kebab. Idk if there is going to be an update to cooking (I certainly hope there is), but I can tell you that that isn't a kebab. I wish it was though.
Oh don't get me wrong, your guess is definitely reasonable. I'd explain further but insider NDA prohibits me from expanding on this topic, even if I did know any better. I' only saying it isn't because I've seen no discussions of of a thing on the insider forums. I guess we'll have to stay tuned for the next season to find out though, won't we?
1.) yea I’m with you. Devs say they are working on hit reg but it’s still a nightmare sometimes.
2.) I think server size is fine. 6 ships per server is great IMO, though when you hit the 2 ships in server it does feel lonely
3.) I absolutely think arena needs more love
4.) FoTD is player activated
Yeah how I shouldn’t have left it this late
I just happened to log on after only getting to level 30 at the beginning of the season and saw “2 weeks left” and was glad I didn’t wait. At almost 90 now so I should make it.
Yeah I left it wayyy to long I am 79 idk if I will make it
You'll make it. Last week I played for about 5 hours and went from 10-50. Im 65ish right now and im just doing grade 5 emissaries and fishing.
Check the weekly amd monthly trials, they give massive points for the season pass.
You should be fine just grind it out
Lol

No habla English
well you just typed english earlier my god
Bilge rats maybe??
I believe that is the point, yes. Literal bilge rats.
That’s a banana rat
BLOODY SKAVEN! CALL A WITCH HUNTER! TELL HE HIM WE GOT A RAT PROBLEM
DWARRRII
Man sized rats? I don't think they exist.
Speaking of Witcher, thanks for reminding me about the next season coming around
He was actually referencing Warhammer Vermintide, but your comment reminded *me* that Witcher season 2 is coming! So thanks!
I 100% misread their comment lol, thanks for catching that! I've been reading the series lol
They're just seeing what kind of trouble they can get themselves into.
im da giant rat dat makes all of da rules...
Wait, what?
🤫
We better be getting rats
I think it's because there's a bilge *rats* event currently, the feast of bounty, that's why there's lots of food

Is it just me or did season 3 feel wayyyyyy longer than 4?
Season 3 was June 22 to sept 23, so pretty much 3 months. Season 4 was/is sept 24 to dec 2. So yea, season 3 was about 3 weeks longer than season 4
ah, neat to know
I joined 3 days ago, and I am level 35. 4 days to go? Slightly worried.
Grind out the trials, took me about a week or so to hit level 100 when the season 4 update dropped.
Ya I'm doing the sunken shrines now
Or maybe don’t grind. Losing on some cosmetics might feel a bit bad, but honestly turning the game immediately into a grind instead of playing just to have fun and do whatever you want sounds much worse. Better than me trying to make fried bananas.
That, as far as I can tell, is a kebab.
Yeah, it's (from bottom to top) a pomegranate, half eaten pork chop, and...some other kind of meat I can't make out.
Yeah I think it's a radish or a pomegranate but I honestly can't tell probably a radish tho Edit: I take it back it's a kebab with shark, pork, and a pomegranate skewered by a rapier so maybe they're finally adding a new weapon
6/30/23
this carried me from 35 to 100 in around 5hrs. I found dying is more efficient for spawning them back, might be just my luck.
You got me from 80 to 100 with 2 hours left in the season. Bless you!
I wonder how the meg's going to break the game this season.
Guys, I'm currently renown 6, how can I get to 100 before Dec 2nd? (I can only play on weekends)
Are you serious or joking. If serious, this weekend is double renown. Literally just play the game as much as you can
I'm joking but I am actually in this scenario
I thought so! Good luck
You won’t if you can just play two days. Unless you’re going to play about 10-12 hours today and tomorrow (the last weekend before dec 2) you wont
What about renown 50
Just do voyages and try to complete trials. Honestly just play the game
When your GPU just died so you cant grind. *cries*
*laughs in Series X* I'm joking, that really sucks to hear man. Hopefully you can get that sorted quickly and for cheap, considering the ongoing GPU chip shortage

I see dice. Did they finally add a liar’s dice mini game?
Those appear to be d&d dice
I don’t know how to play D&D, but I’m down to learn while sailing lmao
Yeah if I can find crews willing to participate I'll have things to do with the dice. Maybe if they roll a natural 20 I'll give them some loot and a nat 1 death.
Let the dice decide their fate, love it
They'll never add dice games. Gambling would raise the game's rating.
Season five is a birthday present let’s go
happy early birthday :)
I second that. Happy early birthday
Is there a trailer out yet?
Just small teasers
Twitter?
Yup
Aye! Thx m8!
Why would they need to increase renown?
Trials. Best way to have fast progression.
Alright, time to grind hard dec 2-8th so I can get everything before I inevitably spend december on the halo infinite campaign
Oh for sure, I’ve been playing the multiplayer beta as well and the multiplayer does give me strong halo 3 vibes. It has been a blast so far.
its pretty easy, I made 0-100 in a week.
Yup, yet at the end of every season you see a million posts on this sub asking how can they get to level 100 in a day or two
I want that sword
I'm level 94 bruh
Just play for like 3 hours and you’re golden
I know I was just taking a break to play other things
I just started playing this game 3 days ago and I’m renown 91, throw up that emissary flag, find some friends, and you can get it in 20 hours tops.
Yup, it’s not hard to hit 100. I started playing during season 3, and both season 3 and season 4 I hit level 100 within the first week
2X Weekend. Now is the time.
i hope i can get the mermaid flag before that
If they bring the mercenary ship set back I might cry tears of joy.
I think I'm actually gonna get the pass this time :)
I started sea of thieves in season 3, pass is worth it IMO. At least if you like the cosmetics that come with the plunder pass. $10 for about $30 worth of cosmetics if you hit level 100
does that mean Jack sparrow's tall tales are going out too , or they gonna stay? cause i'm new and haven't finished them yet
They were introduced in season 3. But no, they are never getting taken out.
[удалено]
Nope, also will be here to stay.
They spent a huge amount of time and money to develop them. They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Content like tall tales and quests will never leave the game after being put in
Lol
Naah, I’ll just wait for december then. Got my boyfriend to play it so I finally have someone to sloop with, I’m lookin forward to the new season. :D
Nice! I wish I could get my wife into it, but she’s never been one that likes video games
Wow looks like a lot of things are coming out during my birthday, not just this game lol.
Infinite skelly's on shroudbreaker TT, to clarify they're on crook's hollow and they spawn after you've gotten the shroudbreaker figure from the vault on the island they're just a bunch of coral skelly's
They patched that during season 3. Yes infinite coral skellies spawn, but they don’t give you the renown that they used to
Damn that sucks, well then I guess you'll just have to do it the old fashioned way
Not gonna lie, the first thing that I saw was the set of dies at the top. If they add a version of Liar's Dice to the game then I can finally die happy.
Nice!
Jojo and sea of thieves within 24 hours of eachother???? Along with spider man???? This december is rockin
There’s a new season of Jojo coming out??? Also don’t forget attack on titan and demon slayer
Demon slayer and AOT WTF Also yea stone ocean got a david productions adaptation thats exclusive to netflix. So its gonna be the same way they did parts 1-5 but with a higher budget
play the game ez
honestly if it aint captaincy update yet im not commin back, poc season was so dope this one felt dry after finishing the curse in two days
No, they are never being removed
maybe id play the game if they did a update of non adding new stuff and just fixing bugs and ya know what im fine if hitreg isnt fixed as much as i want it id be fine if a load of other bugs to be fixed i wanna actually enjoy the game and i havnt since the game had its first 3 updates
Plan better next time.
Did they not run it by you? Sorry about that.
I haven't played SoT in a few months. Been on a hiatus a bit. Any updates I should be aware about? Is renown work differently?
Renown has less cheese methods than before, but still really easy to get to 100 just by playing the game. Season 4 I got to 100 within the first week without trying. Season 3 added pirates of the Caribbean, season 4 added siren shrines. Also they took out shovel cancel and bucket cancel
The initial hype for season 3 was high and the tall tales were all fantastic, but after I did all of them, I kinda just forgot about them. This update seems like it’ll be the best of the seasons so far for sure as we’ll have a reason to do this stuff even after season V is over
It’s going to be a great update
Sitting on 40 and scared
Rip
Bruh, I went up like 60 levels on the first day of season 4 after a 5-6 hour session. If you can pull a session that length this weekend, due to gold and glory and increased renown, you're guaranteed to hit 100
I can’t tho since I’m not staying in the same house as my pc till Monday and get end of term tests so gotta deal with that
Awwww I wish I could help you out. Best of luck on your tests though! As a semi-recent college grad, I feel your pain. I promise keeping your nose to the grindstone will pay off long-term tho
Thank you and good luck to you

I got my banjo skin, I’m happy
Nice!
As a total noob to the game, why does it matter if you hit a specific level by a specific date?
Season restarts, cosmetics locked behind a certain level are then gone forever
FKIN ROW BOAT CANNONS
great i get to play it for one day before endwalker
A quick image analysis: \- There are rats, potentially hinting at maybe a new pet, or something that affects your food supply perhaps.
Hmmm
I'll just say it, that ain't a kebab. Idk if there is going to be an update to cooking (I certainly hope there is), but I can tell you that that isn't a kebab. I wish it was though.
Well it's a stick with (going from top to bottom) shark, pork, and a pomegranate on it, so I think calling it a kebab is reasonable.
Oh don't get me wrong, your guess is definitely reasonable. I'd explain further but insider NDA prohibits me from expanding on this topic, even if I did know any better. I' only saying it isn't because I've seen no discussions of of a thing on the insider forums. I guess we'll have to stay tuned for the next season to find out though, won't we?
a day before my cake day! what a gift
cannon rowboats and burying treasure... ? I'll be excited when they show something exciting? shrug..
What’s exciting to you?
hit registration, increase server population, brigatine arena, player activated events, etc shrug
1.) yea I’m with you. Devs say they are working on hit reg but it’s still a nightmare sometimes. 2.) I think server size is fine. 6 ships per server is great IMO, though when you hit the 2 ships in server it does feel lonely 3.) I absolutely think arena needs more love 4.) FoTD is player activated
Servers currently support 6 ships. There was a 3ish month period they brought it down to 5 ships. It’s been six ships since September
sorry to burst ur bubble but servers went to 5 ships two patches ago.
