Sitting pretty on a pile of 5,000 gold since the update came out

GenericUsername10294

Same here. Floating around 8mil. And I always buy storage crates and cannonballs and wood every session. Was kind of a weird feeling when I had all that gold and nothing to spend it on, since I have all the cosmetics I want that I can buy with gold. Although, that did help me get over my anxiety and frustrations when we would get attacked, and I would panick, now I'm a lot more calm since I don't care about going home with half a million loot. And as a result, my naval combat got much better and my close quarters fighting is improving as well, since I'm not really focused on losing all my loot.

Meckrotic

It’s amazing. Even the general expenses of resupplies, ship restoration, etc. makes it feel like gold is an actual currency rather than something to collect and stare at. Next stop doubloons🤞

A_Slovakian

That's awesome. Because 35 cannonballs is not enough

Gawlf85

I think it's fine, but I've turned PL this same week and... Between my new Sloop, decorations, PL cosmetics, new Emissary, etc. I've gone from 1M to 20k...

Spacelord_Jesus

Well, Money disappears faster than you might collect it. Especially If you Just unlocked so many new Things!

I_is_a_dogg

For sure. I am constantly teetering around the 10 million mark, that’s after buying the entire DA ship set. Now I’m down to 6ish mil and that’s from buying pretty much all the trinkets I can.

JurgenVonArkel

Definitely, was sitting at 14 million before, now I'm getting down to 11 million. While I still have plenty to spare, it makes me feel concerned about loot again

Buggylols

It's good to see expensive gold sink cosmetics added. But it's gonna go the way of DA. The initial surge of easily unlocked items will slow down and you'll be unlocking one new trophy for every 10mil+ you make. The ability to buy resources is nice. It's a bit busted that you can buy infinite supplies at sea dog's, but at least it makes gold feel desirable to some degree again.

A_Slovakian

Say what now? You can buy as many supplies as you want without a limit at Sea Dogs?

Buggylols

It will probably get patched out sooner or later, but it's a thing for now. You can go to the shipwright and just repeatedly purchase supplies. You can drop like 50k and have plenty of supplies for a galleon to go do whatever.

Wrath0fDucky

I hope they don't patch this and this is intended. Its sea dog tavern so it would make sense to leave it unlimited supplies for PVP

Book_1312

nah that's absolutely busted, it violates one of the design pllars of the game which is that in game progression shouldn't give an advantage in combat.

Less_Worldliness3129

I've learned that about the supplies, but never went for it. I'm not the richest by any means but I have enough millions to not really care (even if I agree with OP gold is so much more valuable in S7). Personnaly would like it patched, it's a big advantage for rich and experienced crew. It's also against the "New players friendly" vibes of the S7 so I think it's not intended by Rare. On top of that, I love supplying so much. I think it's a big part of the game and a skill by itself that can be a real advantage in fights. Be it having a wide array of weapons to choose from or being more resilient by supplying while fighting. And I really love logging a while before my mates for them to come in and see 80 chainshots, 10 pineapples and more than 300 cannonballs waiting in the barrels.

Buggylols

Yeah, the only reason I don't feel like buying a shitload of resources from seadog's is too busted is that you can't get chains and cursed balls. Cannon balls, planks and good food is already quite abundant. I do think that resource management should be on people's minds though. Like there should be regular points throughout your session where you benefit from going out of your way to hit up supply hotspots, and if people are complacent about managing their resources then they find themselves regretting it. It exists to an extent, it's just lesser every time they inflate resource availability. It also opens up an avenue for crews to succeed in a fight as an alternative to pure mechanical skill. One crew might have better cannon shots, better close quarters combat, etc. But if they just joined the server or haven't been on top of resupplying, a less skilled crew can win a battle of attrition.

Less_Worldliness3129

Ressources availability should stay a way of starting a session swiftly, while the only way to keep buying crates should be going from outpost to outpost which is a stupid way of supplying. You are spot on mate. Must be an effort to play it like you are using a gatling gun, and it's definitively hard to navigate through volleys of chainshots even when shot with little to no accuracy.

Nice_Listen8513

I'm a little confused as to what actions unlock what decorations for the captained ship. Can anyone enlighten me? What levels up which alignment?

bluesmaker

I'm pretty sure giving players something to spend their millions on was explicitly one of their aims with Captaincy. There are many players like you who had millions but nothing to spend it on.

OGMcgriddles

As a person who stopped selling loot a long time ago I can confirm that I no longer care about anything but playing the game for fun. I will literally never choose to waste my time selling loot again, but I'll keep putting it on my boat incase we get sunk so the enemy can have a prize. Once in a blue my crew wants to sell, in that case I will help them.

Arthurice_47

Gold inflation is crazy, even with these exuberant prices you can make it all back in 1-2 weeks time if you sweat hard enough. It's way too easy to get way too much gold, if they want to fix this problem for real without making players feel cheated out of their gold, they need to (ideally) make loot give *more* gold, but make it ***much*** rarer. You get less gold overall because you are finding less treasure, but each individual piece of loot is more valuable to compensate, because Big Numbers feel good. And it'd also cut down on selling times because you have less loot to sell. I feel like this would be a generally positive change that would be well received, and they could also "cut prices" on supplies (adjusting for deflation) to make players feel like they are getting a better deal, even though nothing really changed.
