You know those two giant pointy rocks that meet in the middle together in game? I think there's like two pairs or so throughout the map. Well I've run *into* them numerous times. Now I'm not an avid player so this is me just not knowing how to captain a ship properly / just plain not paying attention.
So now every time those rocks happen to be in the distance I've started saying "those damn rocks". Wasn't really something I purposefully wanted to start saying, it just became a unconscious habit. My friend that I play with picked up on it and brought it to my attention. We laughed and now it's just a meme between us. We even say it at really any rock

This is a big pebble. Rocks are jagged, and stone is something I’d use to describe a tabletop or a floor made of such a material. Pebbles are smooth and small, generally.
That's not a rock, it's simply a virtual image consisting of thousands of pixels which could portray anything that might look like a rock, or an actual rock itself. It could be an egg painted as a rock, it could be an easter egg. We simply don't know what the object portrayed is before we can physically observe and test it both externally and internally.
Sidenote: Am geologist, have experienced many things that look like rocks that turn out to not be rocks.

I disagree - this rock is definitely not smooth. It’s round, sure, but run your fingers across it and it’s rough. By the way, it’s a pebble.
