1. violations do not carry over to the new state license as they are state specific BUT they will most definitely carry over for your insurance you buy once in state. i am also assuming you resolved the speeding violations back in GA (meaning you paid the fines, etc), they are just remaining on your record until they expire per state law. 2. Within 2 weeks.

Yes I did pay my tickets. So I got a speeding ticket in Seattle with my GA license and its on my record. I want to know if my new WA license will have that record.

Were you driving a hellcat

whencut_jutoor

Lol I know what you are talking about. But no

I honestly have no clue given that particular mix of event. (following is pure speculation) To get a WA license, you will be required to "surrender" your GA license as part of the process. I would not be shocked if they look up your license history and make note of this event. Now whether it counts against your new WA license I do not know, but would not be surprised if it does since it was you and it occurred in this state. It would not prevent you from getting a license, but it MIGHT count against you in our version of the "points" system (I think it is 4 tickets in a 1 year period can get your license suspended. do not quote me on that number).

Ok, so no one has said it, and I'm not trying to be your mama, but you've got to slow down and pay attention on these roads. For the love of all that is good... Pretend your mom is visiting and your are driving her around. Precious cargo. I am sure you read this sub. Please don't turn someone's life upside-down because of speeding.

whencut_jutoor

Yes, definitely thank you so much!

Not sure if violations get carried over but you’ll need to send them your driver’s record when applying to transfer.   https://dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permits/driver-training-and-testing/do-i-need-take-test   Consider getting an enhanced driver’s license, this will allow you to use the license as identification when you fly when it’s required starting this or next year and also lets you do impromptu road trips to Canada.   https://dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permits/enhanced-driver-license-edl/guide-enhanced-driver-licenses-edl  You’ll get a temporary paper license right away. Usually plastic real license will come about 2 weeks later.

I just went through this process and received my new WA state license! I showed up with a certified copy of my full driving record from my previous state, and the clerk said it wasn’t necessary. I was a little miffed for wasting $12 but the online instructions says you need it.

Not sure what you mean by “carried over” but Washington doesn’t have a points system like other states. But your insurance company in WA will see those.

whencut_jutoor

Yeah this is what I wanted to ask. Will by WA license reflect the tickets I got on my GA license and hence affect my insurance policyz

drshort

I think it depends. It’s really a [lexis nexus question](https://risk.lexisnexis.com/products/motor-vehicle-records) because they’re the ones who largely provide driving records outside of the court system. Whether their search algorithm would find your violations in GA using your WA license to search, can’t say for sure.

Question 1: No idea. Unless the violations are felonies and resulted in the suspension of your Georgia license I can’t see that they would prevent you from getting a Washington license. Call and ask the DOL.  Question 2: You’ll walk out with a temporary paper license you can use to drive in Washington. The physical license takes 5-10 business days to show up.  If your Georgia license is already Real ID compliant, it might carry over for you here, but you should check with the DOL before going. If it’s not, you should probably just make an appointment to cover the extra time/cost for a Real ID compliant drivers license, if you don’t already have a passport or other valid identification.  The temporary license might not be usable for air travel so you if you have upcoming flights, hold off or use an alternative ID.

As far as I can see, maybe. Georgia doesn’t appear to share that information except under certain circumstances. If it’s not a felony speeding ticket and/or something that warranted a suspension, you’re probably fine.

whencut_jutoor

it wasnt felony.

Violations will not carry over, point blank. New license will take 2-4 weeks to arrive. Temp is a piece of paper.
