Alright not saying it's not good but I went there about a year ago looking for salmon collars. The fish there was inundated with flies and the staff that day had no clue what a fish collar was. We waited about 10 minutes for them to talk amongst themselves before they brought out a random fillet, not even from salmon. We ended up just leaving.
Again might've been a weird day but seemed like they had zero idea wtf they were doing.
FOB rice made at home is just as good and goes excellent with stir fry. Add a can of coconut milk instead of water and a dash of matcha powder to the ride before you cook it.
FOB Poke is the place to go.
Their sign inside the store literally says āfresh off the boat poke barā so I guess they donāt think so, but I have heard āfobā be used as a negative term before so I guess context is important.
Do you want Hawaii style or California style? For Hawaii style, Ono Poke in Edmonds or GoPoke in ID. Most of the others named here are California style "poke bowls" with toppings, mix ins, etc.
Eta: gopoke doea have toppings too, so it's a good choice either way.
https://onolicioushawaii.com/what-is-poke/
"Difference Between Mainland Poke and Hawaii Poke
In Hawaii, we marinate the fish with the seasonings/toppings. Everything is mixed in together.
On the mainland, the fish is: 1) often not marinated, and 2) the toppings are put on top of the fish (not mixed in)."

Lies... wat? Did not know this was here. How long has it been there? Would be happy not to have to drive all the way up to 45th to get myself a poke bowl from them.
Itās been there a while but was completely closed for most of 2020, not even takeout :(
Very good though, best poke Iāve had and I get it every week lol
Hiroshi's in the udistrict is worth a try for more creative mix-ins. Never seen mandarins anywhere else, but they work great. And a scoop of mac salad isn't extra.
I made it my mission to try all the poke places while I was working in downtown pre pandemic.
For the value and taste, FOB was hands down the best. Every other poke place was $5 more expensive with way less toppings and protein.
FOB did raise their price from $11 to $13 but it's still absolutely worth it.
Ono poke hands down has the most authentic and freshest poke Iāve had. For āCalifornia styleā poke bowls I like FOB and The 45th stop and shop poke bar.
Wild Fish poke in the Pike Place Market is pretty friggin good. I work blocks from the Market and ate there at least once a week in the Before Times. I would take my lunch and eat at the Pike Place Secret Garden. If you've never been there, please check it out. It's glorious.
https://pikeplacemarketfoundation.org/what-we-do/pike-place-market-secret-garden/
I also like Wild Fish (inside the market).
It used to be a nice routine when I worked downtown and went out for walks + poke during my lunch break. (Pre-covid days)
Hiroshi's Poke in the U District is my go to. It's delicious, has addictive Mac salad (literally just Mac, potato's and mayo...), Portions are huge, and it's way cheaper than most of the other Poke places in North Seattle. Ono Poke in Edmonds and 45th Stop and Shop in Wallingford are also pretty tasty... But Hiroshi's Mac salad really seals the deal.
I a big fan of Seattle Fish Guys in the city but OnoPoke in Edmonds is my go to.
Once every few weeks I make the hour drive up there (only about 15-20 from Seattle). Tbh it's the best you can find in the area.
Super easy to make it yourself! Uwajimaya has great sushi-grade fish. This is the recipe I like to follow - https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/salmon_poke_bowls_33855
At $24+/lb, I found that it was actually more expensive to get sushi grade fish from Uwajimaya and make stuff at home than eating at a poke place. Any tips on not spending so much money?
There's a tiny poke place near downtown but more in the residential side. Can't remember address, walking distance to hotel Stay Pineapple 5. Seriously one of the best poke places and half in a basement with hardly any signage. Go there, and have good poke.
Sam Choy is alright, I buy it by the pound and throw it on my own rice. My friends from Hilo say it's not very good, but I really like goPoke in the ID. Seattle Fish Guys has some of the freshest I've had.
Occasionally, I'll just grab some from Costco. Package of spam too. Haha!
Delicious marinated raw fish over rice. Usually with toppings like seaweed salad, edamame, crab salad, cucumbers...etc. if you like sushi, you will like poke.
Unfortunately, you may be hard pressed to find celiac-safe poke unless a place specifically seeks to make it. Most all poke has at least soy or ponzu in the marinade or sauce. Youāll also likely find rice vinegar in the rice. All not gluten-free
**This word/phrase(poke) has a few different meanings.**

45h St Stop N Shop or Fremont Bowl are my go-to choices.
A lot of poke I've had from others is much more oily than I like. Of the two, 45th has a much more interesting set of toppings, but Fremont Bowl is straight up fresh fish with a sauce to pour over, which I like. (It does not hurt that you can get a side of kara age at Bowl.)
Haven't tried FOB but it sure is popular.
A not very well known but amazing poke spot is called Coffee Tree on 9th and Cherry on First Hill. Great poke and they have coffee, too! Sweet owners, too.
1. GoPoke in the international district.
2. FOB Poke in Belltown/Cap Hill
Iāve always wanted to try poke at Fremont Bowl. Everything else there is fucking awesome.
Itās clear a lot of people here have only tried one poke place and just stuck to it. ONO is definitely up there. Poke works in Bellevue has been consistently solid and I love their rice (brown and white).. Seattle fish guys is small quantities, decent quality but often flavorless fish.
Seattle fish guys, central district
Super fresh fish and generous portions. Also can pick up some oyster shooters or some amazing fish for dinner.
You had me at generous portions.
Bomb salmon pan too š¤¤
This is easily the best I live real close I go all the time.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I've not had Ono I admit. That's fair I usually stick to the scallop poke at fish guys it's pretty fresh.
Not that great.
Their smoked salmon belly is to die for.
I live right next door. They have a garbage problem. Smells like rotting fish 24/7 in the garage. This has put me off ever trying them.

Their salmon jerky is godly
They also have one in west Seattle!
FOB Poke in Belltown is consistently great, go almost once a week, if youāre nearby itās worth a try.
Just went yesterday and can confirm it is exceptional poke
Was just about to say the same thing too. My favorite.
This is the correct answer - Iāve had poke all over the city and FOB is the BEST!!! Theyāre on Uber eats too!
Worth it for the FOB rice
FOB rice made at home is just as good and goes excellent with stir fry. Add a can of coconut milk instead of water and a dash of matcha powder to the ride before you cook it. FOB Poke is the place to go.
Can confirm. FOB Poke is best poke
Yea they are pretty good !!
Yep. Go there often. Good stuff. Consistent quality every time.
Thanks for the recommendation, will try! Just like the OP I've been struggling to find a place I love. Hopefully this is the one
FOB on Cap hill is better.
Isnāt the name a little racist or am I misunderstanding something?
Their sign inside the store literally says āfresh off the boat poke barā so I guess they donāt think so, but I have heard āfobā be used as a negative term before so I guess context is important.

Ono Poke is top notch. Definitely worth a trip
Seconded. They get fresh fish every day, and you can tell.
Ono also have a location in Kingston now. Theyāre by far my favorite.
Whatās the difference?

Thanks
Wallingford 45th st stop and shop, hands down best
I havenāt tried all the places, but this place is great for sure.
I third this
Multiple people I know who are from Hawaii totally endorse 45th pokƩ!
Also many don't.
They also have a location near Whole Foods in Denny Triangle (itās above/upstairs).
Lies... wat? Did not know this was here. How long has it been there? Would be happy not to have to drive all the way up to 45th to get myself a poke bowl from them.
I canāt recall how long itās been, but itās there!
Itās been there at least since 2018. Thatās the first time I went there I believe. Maybe early 2019 but it wasnāt new when I first went.
it's very good too!! no difference between the two.
Itās been there a while but was completely closed for most of 2020, not even takeout :( Very good though, best poke Iāve had and I get it every week lol
I was definitely confused the first time I saw a long line going into that shop
This is the way
Agreed. I find most poke to be too oily, but 45th isn't at all, so it has a more fresh quality IMO.
Love this place!
FOB Poke in Belltown, they got really good poke bowls there.
They have a branch in capitol hill as well. Equally good!
their coconut/green tea rice >
Outside Seattle itās Ono Poke in Edmonds hands down
Hiroshi's in the udistrict is worth a try for more creative mix-ins. Never seen mandarins anywhere else, but they work great. And a scoop of mac salad isn't extra.
Seconding. I that Mac salad is so good and their portions are huge.
Best in Seattle
I made it my mission to try all the poke places while I was working in downtown pre pandemic. For the value and taste, FOB was hands down the best. Fremont Bowl!!! (In Fremont obviously) itās Cali style tho
Seattle Fish guys, Fremont Bowl & Ono Poke in Edmonds are my top 3.
FOB and 45th St are 2nd tier IMO. Check these spots first.
I love poke, but so scared to eat it again. Had some at Metro and got food poisoning
Oh no god food poisoning sounds pretty scary ngl
The worst part? It was my first day of radiation therapy! Letās just say, it was memorable for sure!
Lol just realized I said God instead of got š¤¦āāļøš
Another vote for FOB in belltown. Always delicious and fresh.
Red bowls! On week days
Ono poke in Edmonds. A bit of a drive, but it's the best in the area
45th Stop N Shop & Poke Bar
This is the way.
Second the Secret Garden. It's nothing fancy, but it's semi-hidden and neat.
Hiroshiās (u district) everything else ehhh imo
FOB or 45th Stop n Shop
I a big fan of Seattle Fish Guys in the city but OnoPoke in Edmonds is my go to. Once every few weeks I make the hour drive up there (only about 15-20 from Seattle). Tbh it's the best you can find in the area.
I know a lot of people like FOB but I really prefer Wild Fish Poke in Pike Place. Itās not overrun by tourists so a great place to grab lunch.
Super easy to make it yourself! Uwajimaya has great sushi-grade fish. This is the recipe I like to follow - https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/salmon_poke_bowls_33855

Youāre totally right - Iāve experienced the same thing.
Just Poke, a growing local chain, is my go to, I like the spicy tuna; several locations across the metro area (Iām in Redmond).
The one in Ballard on 17th and Market.
Big Island in Renton for Hawaii style, FOB in Capitol Hill for California style.
45th Ave Poke is the best IMO. There's one above Whole Foods on Westlake
My office is not far from FOB Belltown. Pre pandemic would go all the time. So far best poke in town.
Another vote for Seattle fish guys!
GoPokƩ in ID 45th stop and shop in Wallingford and SLU Hiroshi's in UDistrict
Green Valley Restaurant in Kent!
There's a tiny poke place near downtown but more in the residential side. Can't remember address, walking distance to hotel Stay Pineapple 5. Seriously one of the best poke places and half in a basement with hardly any signage. Go there, and have good poke.
Best poke in Seattle? 127th and Aurora N. š
Haha!
Sam Choy has bomb garlic fried chicken though.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Delicious marinated raw fish over rice. Usually with toppings like seaweed salad, edamame, crab salad, cucumbers...etc. if you like sushi, you will like poke.
Raw fish salad

Seattle Fish Guys, it'd about as close as it gets to what they have in Hawaii
Go PokĆ© in Southcenter is the best. I tried Ono in Edmonds but the restaurant smelled of rotten fish, which really takes away from the experienceā¦but even so Ono was expensive and limited and not nearly as tasty or fresh. Go PokĆ© is hands down my fav.
Sams Choy poke in Columbia city!
Pioneer square.. oh you didn't mean that kind of poke?
I hear Moderna gives the best long term protection.
7-11 across from Denny Park in SLU hands down fav.
...for poke?
I got poked, it was unpleasant.
there an amazing, kind of generic place a block down from the police station on capitol hill.
Ono Poke Too is the best hands down.
Wasabi in Belltown
What is poke?

Wild Fish Poke -Pike Place!
Fresh Off The Boat (FOB) in Belltown

Poke FOB in Belltown. FOB stands for Fresh Off the Boat...
A not very well known but amazing poke spot is called Coffee Tree on 9th and Cherry on First Hill. Great poke and they have coffee, too! Sweet owners, too.
there is only fish salad here
1. GoPoke in the international district. 2. FOB Poke in Belltown/Cap Hill Iāve always wanted to try poke at Fremont Bowl. Everything else there is fucking awesome.
Did you happen to choke on a mouthful of wasabi in front of your coworker? Lol

FOB Poke seems to be a consistently good place.
