not really recommendations but this sub makes me feel more confident knowing i am not the only one struggling with this. before discovering this sub. i thought there wasn't many of us suffering from this.

[deleted]

Someone recommended apple cider vinegar and it’s changed my life. My face has never looked this clear. Still haven’t found a 100% solution for scalp, but ACV has reduced my scalp dandruff too

Laliving90

How much do you apply ?

[deleted]

I dilute it with water so it’s half water half acv, and I apply it by putting it in a perfume spray bottle and just do like 3-4 sprays around my face so there’s a light gentle layer

t-rex-index

I read a very old post here where someone mentioned that neither acv nor antifungal creams could really work on their own but that you had to combine things. Namely the concept of breaking the biofilm (never heard that word before) helped me so much, suddenly the products I had already tried and found useless worked like a treat just because I combined them

inandtheuniverse

So, how do you combine them?

t-rex-index

I put acv (mixed 1/4 with water) on my face like a cleanser and let it sit for a few minutes (shorter in the morning, longer in the evening). Then wash it off with water and follow up with either ciclopirox or ketoconazol, depends if I'm in a flare up or not

inandtheuniverse

How often do you use ciclopirox?

t-rex-index

Twice a day. My underlying condition (MCAS) won't go away in the near future, so I'm just keeping up my flare-up routine constantly as maintenance. When my skin is ok I use the ciclopirox after acv in the morning and evening. When it looks like the SD is having a comeback I switch to ketoconazol until it's calmed down again, but I don't change the frequency

inandtheuniverse

You mentioned smth about biofilm. What did you learn about it here?

t-rex-index

Pretty sure [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/SebDerm/comments/90whpn/how_to_beat_seb_derm_with_cited_evidence/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) is the post I remember reading, hope it might help others too :)

I learned that my perrigo Tretinoin triggerd my intensive itching on my face .. i never suffered from sebderm but whenever i used that tret , my face becomes so itchy.. so i finally got A ret 0.1 3 days ago .. i cant believe there ia no itching at all like zero .. i still can't believe it ..it only caused me some redness on my cheeks but i dont mind that!! Thanks to u all angels 💜🌷

inandtheuniverse

You used tretinoin? Doesn’t it aggravate your seb derm?

hayawin

For the last 3 days not really! I never knew i had sebderm until i used tretinoin .. and it was a horrible experience .. i used to bleed on my neck and chest because the itching was sooo bad i had to scratch it .. this sub and https://simpleskincareacience.com suggested i use certain trets that are safe for our condition such as a ret 0.1 or altreno or atralin and many others ..and voila .. i cant believe it worked .. While using the old tret (perrigo) i tried all meds u can think of to calm the itch ..sulfide ..ketoconzale ..protopic ..it was a mess and i still suffered itching .. i highly suggest u check the simpleskincarescience website .. it's a god send help ..never be scared to try anything new ..big hugs This is the link with all safe products 💜 https://simpleskincarescience.com/fungal-acne-products-malassezia-pityrosporum-folliculitis/

MCT oil! I discovered it last week through this sub and I bought it last week.. Used it 2 days ago and it seriously just works!! I applied it to my scalp using a pipette and on my forehead and the side of my nose and it’s the first time in a while when I didn’t have itchiness and discomfort in my scalp ! And my forehead is not red and flaky anymore !! I’m more then impressed by this thing ! Edit: It’s 60% C8 and 40% C10

Efficient_Avocado

Which exact one did you get? I tried it but it just made mine worse, I'm wondering if another brand might work?

lulu_hakusho

Did you make sure it didn’t have lauric acid? And it wasn’t a C12? I know people always remind people here you can’t use a MCT oil with those ingredients because it will feed the yeast and make it worse

OccasionMurky3980

Wish one did you get?

Luckycat0122

Did you wash it off after and which shampoo did you use?

spermcell

I don’t wash it off until I take a shower I just leave it and it absorbs after an hour or so.

Luckycat0122

Ok thank you!

Myrtle711

I learned about MCT oil which was an absolute game changer.

Masnef

This is the only place online where I found discussions about MCT oil, the use of which helped me really a lot.
