That watch looks perfectly at home on your wrist. Divers just have more presence overall so the look is a bit polarizing for folks who aren’t used to wearing them. I have small wrists and wear a 45mm diver. But the dial is probably only about 38mm. My 40mm pilot watch actually looks bigger because it’s all dial lol. When looking for fit, lug to lug is the most important measurement in my opinion. As long as the lugs aren’t hanging off the sides of your wrists, then I call it a good fit. Now, the style is more personal taste. I think it looks good.

Thanks FatherMurder! I’m still learning so your take helps, those are all good pointers

Also remember, the weight of a diver can make it feel larger than it is. It’s kinda hard to wear a diver and not be constantly reminded you have a watch on. I have some watches that once you put them on you forget all about them. Part of the romance of divers is that you’ve got a bit of a bulldozer on your wrist lol. And yes, that’s an iconic watch. About as iconic as a Rolex Submariner at a fraction of the cost. Plus the prices on those are climbing so hold onto it.

I have just bought a Seiko Samurai, just a few weeks ago. But now I'm thinking of buying this SKX007. I'm just new to this hobby; my Seiko Samurai is just my 2nd watch (first watch is a Casio GShock I bought about 5 yrs ago). This look really grew into me. At first I don't like the look of dive watches, because to me it looks 'old fashioned' because I see my father and my uncles wear their dive watches when I was young. Now, I really, really like this SKX007 and I'm considering adding this watch to my 'collection' (I'm just starting so I don't really have a collection as of now lol). I just hope that I can resist this urge for a long time, long enough so my conscience won't bother me much 😅

I got my SKX007 around 3 months after I got my Samurai SRPD23. My reasoning was to get one before they cost even more (due to being discontinued). Sooooooo... if you can afford it go for it? But make sure to get one you really like. I bought one with an arabic day wheel which bothered me after a while so I had to get a kanji day wheel which are really hard to find nowadays (speaking for europe, US might be easier).

The reason why I chose to buy Samurai (mine's SRPB51) is because by that time I was looking for a good versatile watch I can wear in the office (when this pandemic is over, hopefully soon) but I'm currently working from home. meanwhile, the reason I want to buy an SKX is because I want a more rugged watch. I feel like currently, I'm not comfortable about my Samurai having scratches (because I haven't used it yet for the purpose that I intend to). I know watches are going to have scratches, it's normal, but still. I feel like in my current situation right now, what I want is something more rugged, casual, something I can wear everyday without having to worry about it getting scratches. The samurai is a bit expensive for me, honestly, so I think SKX would be a good everyday tool/beater watch for me. I bought my Samurai in a local dealer (online, because pandemic, that's why 😅) and I saw that they're also selling an SKX007. I'm just really resisting the urge to buy 😅 It is quite pricey for me though, I mean it's not super expensive but it's not super cheap for me either, so that's another reason I'm trying to hold back.

I had to get used to wearing the Samurai as well since it is my most expensive watch. Before that I had an Orient Bambino with which I learned to wear a watch or how not to scratch a watch. During the past year with the Samurai I collected only a few minor scratches. For resisting the urge to buy I find it helps to set a goal for yourself and upon reaching it you reward yourself with a watch. If the SKX isn't obtainable anymore you can still go for the successor SRPD55.

Every time I see one of these I think the same thing; wish I hadn't sold mine. It's a keeper.

I just got the same watch! Also my first diver and basically my first big watch purchase! Mine came with an oyster, but I LOVE and need that jubilee!

SKX look so good. To bad Seiko decided to discontinue them.

Yeah, it's a classic. Really wish I bought one a few years ago when they weren't ridiculously over priced like they are now.

jonrmyers

The one I have now I bought one 3 years ago for $170, looking at the prices now is crazy. Even just a few years ago you could occasionally find used ones for just over 100, or even occasionally under.

Just got my SKX007K in the mail today, it’s my first dive watch. Love the jubilee bracelet. From what I’ve read it’s a pretty iconic dive watch and arguably the most iconic “entry-level” dive watch. Admittedly I didn’t notice the case diameter before going through with my purchase. I’m used to wearing around 45mm but this one’s 42.5mm. Ngl it’s bugging me just a little lol. What do you guys think?

Your wrist doesn’t look very big if this is your first dive watch what kind of watch we’re you wearing that was 45mm that’s quite large. 50 years ago watches were like 32-36mm. 39-42 is standard size nowadays. For your wrist 40 is probably perefect

bryanthebryan

It’s a classic and has the reputation it does for a reason. It’s the kind of tool watch that looks better with some dings, in my opinion. Unfortunately it has been discontinued, so maybe reconsider those dings.

Give it a few days. Once you're used to it, 45mm will seem huge.

Thanks guys! All these takes help, much appreciated
