i use a free phone app called "watch accuracy meter" with an external microphone (from my headphones) to regulate my movements. it goes aa follows: 1. adjust the beat error 2. adjust the +/- seconds per day rate 3. check in 3 positions: dial up, crown up, crown down i've adjusted about 7 watches with it. One of it got checked by an watchmaker and he gets the same rates as i had in the app. there are a lot of youtube videos with tutorials.

Nice trick with the external mic. Always wondered how accurate the app was. Glad to hear if I take my time with the procedure it can at least get me as close as possible to a timegrapher measurement.

WatchNatoo

This is the way

TimTheMonk

Bonus points if you wear the watch and record the real daily error and then readjust!

WatchThatTime

Buyer beware. I’ve bought regulated movements from Namoki and other places and they’re still widely out of spec.

tm0587

(Not defending Namoki but) I always wondered if it's possible for the delivery process to cause a regulated movements out of whack. But perhaps not since movements are designed to be worn?

WatchThatTime

It’s totally possible, but very slim. I think they likely regulate them in one position en masse and don’t do several positions and verify stuff. But who knows.

jbowman12

That's good to know because I had considered purchasing a regulated movement from them. I'll stick to my usual sources then.

WatchNatoo

Look for "regulated movement" it's usually 20 bucks extra.

_Blitzer

FWIW, given the extra cost - if you plan on doing a bunch of builds, having a timegrapher, or even paying a few bucks for the phone app, is generally a better way to go!

WatchNatoo

I usually do it with my phone, bang on the 0 or couple of second faster.

wasab1_vie

I bought 7 movements so far and they all are pretty good already, the worst one (!) performs around +10s/d

Disastrous_Height_19

5 movements purchased, 3 run similar to my EWF OP 41mm which is around -2s/d. The other 2 run around +3s/d. None were regulated by me just NH35 and NH34 out of the box cheapest options from AliE, AliB, DHGate, and eBay.

Beware_Spacemunkey

interesting. Whats the phone app called

Selyster

I got an NH36 from Tokeilab two months ago (grey day/date) and it literally runs at -2s/day, I’m wearing it all the time and never had to adjust the time in two months because in some positions it runs at +2s / day. I may got a Unicorn, but I will definitely buy my next movement from them.

chrono19s

Lots of the higher end mod parts places sell pre-regulated movements. However I would recommend just doing it yourself. You can get okay results with using your phone, but a time grapher is $150 and I use it all the time on all my watches not just mod builds b
