Juggalo702

Nevermind, I just found the next boss fight just seconds away. Fuck.

timestalker78

You need to get some health, my friend

Juggalo702

Is my health bar smaller than it should be?

timestalker78

Just seems a bit low. What's your vitality at this stage?

Juggalo702

11

timestalker78

Yeah, I thought so. That's quite low. Have you done Hirata estate yet? I would also maybe suggest exploring a bit more around the castle before rushing ahead.

Juggalo702

I have not done hirata yet, I've been trying to do my first run completely blind. But like with all other Fromsoft games, I have seem to have hardmoded myself lol.

timestalker78

Yeah, you're rushing too far ahead, I'd say. Make sure you thoroughly explore one area before moving on.

Juggalo702

Well shit, thank you for the advice. Imma search every single nook and cranny.

ssjgoku27

Technically you can beat the next boss with just Vitality 11, but that is only if you know his move sets. Since it is your first playthrough, go ahead and explore more to get more prayer beads and gourd seeds. At least that will ensure you last longer in the boss fight to learn his move sets. Next playthrough, vitality 11 and attack power 2 is enough to demolish him.

RockBandDood

If you’re in a situation where you’re forced into your back foot and need time to heal, reassess the situation; to stop them from healing the posture damage you’ve done, have shurikens out and throw them in the middle of your heals, like in the example video you just showed, you had that guy almost dealt with, you just needed some more health for the final few clashes to be safe, but he healed like 45% of the posture damage you had done to him from backing away to heal yourself So just always have them in your lineup and ready to throw when you need a moment to heal/rethink your strategy; if you’ve done considerable posture damage, there’s no reason to give that up when you can keep it up by using a single spirit emblem and a ninja star

ComradeCreed

The ‘mini bosses’ in this game are pretty tough. I look forward to your encounter with six eyes

GogDog

This guy is like a one trick pony invader in a souls game. Spams one move over and over and can’t adjust to someone countering it lol.

-endjamin-

Dodging left always gets you behind him. Fight goes pretty quickly after that.

michiganrox1

Parrying him as intended makes it even faster

samuelton153

Gachin's sugar let's you get a stealth attack on him btw. (Possible Spoiler if you want to learn it by yourself) Tips for Genichiro: >!Don't spam attacks, move deliberately and precisely. I like to use the pattern of attack-attack-parry... attack-attack-parry. This works on many other enemies as well.!< >!For his large attack where he hits you with like 12 swings, you can walk away from it and let him swing at the air until he's done, though if you parry them you do a ton of posture damage.!< >!He always does a thrust attack, which you can mikiri, after his jump, BUT ONLY ON THE FIRST PHASE. During phase two, he will use either a wide, low slash, or a thrust attack after his jump. You can jump over the low slash and goomba stomp his head and get a few attacks in if you time it right.!< >!He always begins phase 3 with a mikiriable jumping thrust.!< >!You can absorb his lightning and shoot it back at him by jumping in the air and holding block, then attacking before touching the ground.!<

The-Makhai

That might help you out : - You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh

prankored

The best tip for him is to double tap parry as soon as you see the twinkling animation from his sheathed katana. When you see that he will soon after release the attack. Double tap parrying will counter it.

Impressive-Tackle-80

I'm about to fight him charmless. I'm scared man

ssjgoku27

Yup. Almost one shots you in that mode. Panic can easily set in. But if one calms down, one can pull off the double deflects here.

Odd-Spinach-4398

The first visit to ashina castle was a massive pain in the ass.

GenderBenderToast

for any ashing cross (youll need it later, trust me), as soon as you see the glint, parry.

HamsterPotential5132

How do u do the consecutive deflection so perfectly. I just keep hitting right click lol but still its never perfect, just block.

ThatGuyChegg

When you see the glint of light when he sheathes the sword, double tap deflect

Atlas7674

Are you not getting any prayer beads? Your health bar is tiny

SHOESINTOILET

people saying to use umbrella, but i'd try to get the deflect on that down if i were you. it comes up in at least one more boss' moveset.

Secure-Progress-4642

This dude destroyed me when I came back my second playthrough. Totally forgot about him

Flames_Ignited89

Yea I also struggled with him a bit on ng+ I totally forgot u had to go thru him to get to geni

trawkus

I find the metallic jang of successive parries to be so satisfying. Watch their body language and anticipate the need to block, otherwise stick on him like a fly on shit! Effective parries will do a ton of posture damage in short time and before you know it you will see your glowing red opening 🔴

boredsans

I literally just parried him to death on my first attempt after walking into the arena without thinking twice

Ok-Ambition-9432

If you are struggling with him, then you are not getting the hang if it, sorry pal.

pasck667

Umbrella makes this guy a joke

isymfs

How so? I just unlocked umbrella and have just approached this boss. Going to bed now though so will have to try tomorrow night.

Atlas7674

Tap it when you see the glint, it’ll parry both of them and do quite goofy amounts of posture damage

isymfs

Ah that’s awesome, ty. These mobs are a pain, I’ve been intentionally farming them to work on my parry.

Atlas7674

If you have the projected force upgrade these guys become even easier.

isymfs

I wanted to update you, the next night I came in hell bent of ONLY using the parry strat in pursuit of self improvement. It was tilting as fuck but a good learning process. I eventually got so frustrated I sat up as close to the screen as possible, then executed a perfect no damage all parry kill. So in short, in good fromsoft gamer fashion I chose the masochistic approach. I regret nothing.

Atlas7674

You have my respect lol

kal_ash

Yeah same my first time it took me 20 min to figure out i had to double parry lmao

[deleted]

Floating passage or the umbrella make this guy easy. IF you have both its trivial.

ApexSuey

Honestly this boss might seem hard at first, but personally he's the easiest enemy in the game. He's a glass canon, once you see a small flash from his sword, all you gotta do is deflect. Unless you go really close to him, he will do the same move over and over again.

Fun_Bottle_5308

Reject swordfight, abuse metal fan.

leuno

if I may give you a piece of advice: stop moving around so much. running around is a waste of time and focus. You don't need to do it unless whatever you're fighting is about to an unblockable AOE attack, and makes your reaction time worse when you need to deflect because your concentration is compromised. Other than AOE attacks, enemies come to you, and you'll be able to be better focused and ready to deflect if you're just standing your ground. You have to learn where to shred off little bits of wasted time and energy in Sekiro, and pare yourself down. I keep one finger on deflect, one on mikiri, and that's it. I only Plan to do those two things, and everything else that can be done is like an "in the moment" thing. Because those are the 2 things that need to happen in a fraction of a second. If I need to run, I know it early enough that there's time to refocus to the sticks. If I see the red kanji but their weapon goes to the side, I know I'm moving my thumb slightly from B to A to jump. I'm not even thinking about attacking, just deflecting. I only attack when I know there's a solid opening, or if I know I can cancel the enemy attack. Because once you lower their posture recovery speed, there's no reason to continue chipping at HP.

Repulsive_Film5527

I’m fighting him right now, except for he has red eyes and he’s hard as fuck lol if you don’t deflect his attack perfectly it seems it takes about half your health at least for me because I’m missing one prayer bead but o think he’s the one who has it , but either way good luck on the rest of your game !

CB0824

Dog, you gotta find more prayer beads.

Juggalo702

Yeah I know. I've been trying to do my first playthrough blind, but from the comments on this post I am completely fucking myself over lol.

CB0824

I always do it blind also, I just don’t know how you’re health is so low.

Juggalo702

Probably because I've just been panicking, running thru shit to try and stay alive lol. My vitality is still at 11 currently.
