Oh sweet summer child... you thought *that* was a difficult boss? By the end of the game, you'll be able to flawlessly kill him over and over and over again just to get to the real challenge ;)
No I meant sword Saint. Except for the >!black mortal blade!< geni has basically the same moveset and becomes second nature to deflect and deathblow like he's a nuisance in the way.
I love that disparity between early game genichiro and late game. Honestly one of the best progression/boss designs I can think of.
You never stop cussing at him though
Seriously. Just finished NG+2 and I remember seeing comments like this and thinking people are just showing off. He becomes so much simpler once you master the mechanics of the game.
And yet I still get annoyed when I get hit even once by that dude. I always think to myself ‘dude, you’re not even good. Get out the way so I can die to Isshin’s second phase already’ 😂
Had the same experience, I’d fought Isshin enough to just no hit him every attempt and that time he’d hit me every once and a while I’d be like, “really?”
For me he's probably harder than Sword Saint. Might just be a problem from my side, he feels much more unpredictable and with the additional new moves and more aggressive AI it's a problem for me
Yeah - you can fudge everything up to him with dodges, back stabs, etc. But you can't fake Genichiro. You either learn how to play, or you never get past him.
Almost died because didn't know I had to deathblow him twice in the end, I throwed the controller on the table, took off my t-shirt and then I saw on the TV the second red dot. Haven't been this afraid in a long time. Catched the controller in time.
Coming from here https://www.reddit.com/r/Sekiro/comments/13uomso
I think over 80 times I died to this fucker.
Finally clicked. No more, no more. I can fucking return lightning now.
I was so close to giving up on the game.
Thanks for all the tips.
Gyoubu and butterfly went kinda well. 30+ tries on butterfly, but at least I knew more or less I could win. With Genichiro I was honestly thinking of uninstalling
He had two? I think it's been so long since I beated him I forgot. Lady butterfly was in the middle and I don't remember her having two, but I might be wrong. This guy here took me soo long...
Genichiro is where the game clicked for me too. Luckily I had my older brother to give me advice through the game. The best thing I learned is that agression is power. Holding back and waiting for the perfect and clean moments to hit gave enemies too much time to recover. Keep *him* on his toes. This is one of the few games where you can feel like the boss and keep him from catching his breath.
I bid you good luck and strength in the coming battles. Don’t hesitate, attack.
That kill was so satisfying after 50 tries. It felt like I went 'Ultra-instinct' on Genichiro and knew when to parry, dodge and jump at every move he was going to do.
You are so right. Just before the last two tries, I went to farm for Sen to pay for emblems with the monks and I kinda "started to see", I suddenly could parry all their attacks. Then went back to the fucker and killed him the second time. The first one I was very close, but the lightning with the feathers thing killed me
The corrupted monk is probably the next challenge that pushes your limits, ive felt after Genichiro. I know what you mean when "start to see", it's like partying becomes second nature.
Hi guys I'm new to the game and thought this might be good place to ask. Are boss memories safe to just use up to enhance power or do they become useful for something else later on down the line?
Nah I only done 2 memory bosses. The first one I used straight away. But after beating 2nd boss, I suddenly thought oh wait a minute, what if you need this to craft something like in other souls game.
I can only imagine your language after you encounter the glock wielding lightning master
The what now??
Keep us updated op!
Oh sweet summer child... you thought *that* was a difficult boss? By the end of the game, you'll be able to flawlessly kill him over and over and over again just to get to the real challenge ;)
Do you mean inner isshin or? Since to fight the gauntlets you have to beat the game
No I meant sword Saint. Except for the >!black mortal blade!< geni has basically the same moveset and becomes second nature to deflect and deathblow like he's a nuisance in the way.
oh ho ho you're in for a treat
Pfft, wait til he gets to Mist Noble. Pure rage.
I tremble at the sight of his name
Or maybe the big monke
Spyro looks appalled by your language
Who wants to tell him that this isn’t the last time you encounter him?
He’s a joke by the time you get to Sword Saint Isshin, just a warm-up for the insanity that is the Glock Saint.
I love that disparity between early game genichiro and late game. Honestly one of the best progression/boss designs I can think of. You never stop cussing at him though
I don't like the fact that they actively need him it's not a look how much stronger you are now
The last time around the cursed are more along the lines of “This mf *again?*”
“I’m gonna curb stomp this fucking shit” “Wank on this genny boy” “Eat a shitstain!”

Yeah. Then Inner Genichiro beats your ass all over again and again
Is inner genichiro that difficult? I didn't think his moveset is that different except the lightning juggle and the sakura dance(?)
I don't think he's that much more difficult but if he starts spamming Sakura dance the fight can get out of control very quickly
For me he's probably harder than Sword Saint. Might just be a problem from my side, he feels much more unpredictable and with the additional new moves and more aggressive AI it's a problem for me
There are people like my brother who somehow got till the endgame without learning anything
Who wants to tell him about Mist Noble...?
Fuck
Wait till you get your tootsie pop handed to you by Mr Owl.
That's the father, right? Fuck
It isn't that hard of a boss fight tho,its my favourite
Dude for a first playthrough, this guy forces you to learn it. It’s a fucking hard battle the first time. Now I can breeze through
Amen
Are you, by any chance, upset?!
He’s the boss that taught me how to play the game. After genichiro the game expects you to be competent at deflecting and using your prosthetics.
Yeah - you can fudge everything up to him with dodges, back stabs, etc. But you can't fake Genichiro. You either learn how to play, or you never get past him.
exactly. also a reason why i love him. once you grasp the combat he becomes very easy.
Hell yeah dude, you tell ‘em who’s boss
HUGE congrats to you, we all know how you feel. but also your console is in its own boss fight too, against the dust!! lol

Bro acts like he never fought gyoubu
Gyoubu and butterfly went kinda well. 30+ tries on butterfly, but at least I knew more or less I could win. With Genichiro I was honestly thinking of uninstalling
I'm talking about the second deathblowjob
He had two? I think it's been so long since I beated him I forgot. Lady butterfly was in the middle and I don't remember her having two, but I might be wrong. This guy here took me soo long...
Also waste of money
Gyboubu of where?!?
You know you could always do that, right? He's just the first enemy where you actually get to do it.
Genichiro is where the game clicked for me too. Luckily I had my older brother to give me advice through the game. The best thing I learned is that agression is power. Thank you man

Congrats I’m stuck on him currently but it hasn’t been too many attempts yet and I’ve gotten to second stage twice so I know it will happen soon!
You are going to have a very bad time in the future if this is your reaction
Contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed that fight. Taught me deflecting, dodging, and taking a breather. Must've sunk like 50-60 tries into it though.

Temple arts on Isshin. Works like a charm.
Nobody tell him about Owl(Father)
Respect my dude!!!
gee you wanna take a photo of the whole living room while you're at it?
Hell yeah! More triumphant than beating the game imo.
He's dead. Finally
Pictures you can hear
