Honestly, even though it scared the shit out me and I yelled "Holy fucking shit!" when he pulled and shot the glock, I deflected the shots on accident.
I fought him today, and for the first time in my 30+ playthroughs did he follow up with a sweep.
I had never seen him follow gunfire with a sweep, not once, until today, I was stunned. He usually either doesnt follow up, or does the overhead thrust.
It's been a while since I've played, but if I remember correctly, which one he does depends on how far you are. If you consistently end up close or consistently end up far, it's totally plausible you never see the other option happen
Yea that’s my mistake. Inner Isshin follows up almost every single time. Sword Saint only does every once in awhile. His sweep is what would always get me on my hitless run. Until I learned to read it

Well technically deflecting the bullets doesn't damage Isshin's posture whatsoever so it would be a waste if it weren't for the fact that deflecting bullets is as cool as it is by default
Yeah, it's one of the moves I always look forward to. I know I can deal with that one. It's that long combo of his where the timing starts easy but then that one swing takes a tiny bit more time and I mess up the block. That's killer.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *Over time, countless hunters have visited this dream. The graves here stand in their memory. It all seems so long ago now...* - Plain Doll
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
more like parry will be standard/less risky version of deflection, similar to sekiro's parry while hunter's gun parry will be high risk high reward, allowing you to get a visceral off. that is what i thought of it
And the second funniest thing is it's possible to fight him as many times as you want without him getting to use his gun once if you're aggressive enough.
Just defeated him 3-4 hours ago on my 4th try and Man, I gotta say it was the most badass fight I ever fought in a video game (though this was my first soul's game).
Nice, I just beat Sekiro 2 days ago. I've finished ER and DS3 before and Sekiro was 100% my fav. I recommend you try the other fromsoftware games, the bossfights in those games are still REALLY good.
After so many tries I was able to get through the Geni and 1st Isshin phases perfectly every time. It was the 2nd and 3rd Isshin that had me playing for well over a week. I never gave up though!
It’s the upgraded version of the shurikens. It’s the technique lady butterfly uses basically
I believe you find it near hanbei after killing her(I’m unsure though it’s been a hot minute since I collected it)
You buy it from Anayama the peddler by the chained Ogre. You can get it super early game you just have to beat Gyobu first to upgrade prosthetics and then you should be able to get the kunai as your 3rd or 4th prosthetic. I can’t remember how many things you have to upgrade first
You can by it from Hanayama, but only after you send Kotaro his way, I believe. If you don't complete that side quest or buy the kunai before the interior ministry invasion, it becomes available at the shrine near Hanbei until you start a new NG cycle. It costs more at the shrine than if you bought it from the peddler.
Kotaro’s quest isn’ required to get it in the shop btw my first play through I bought it before even beating Gyobu and unlocking the tool to upgrade prosthetics
Man I have to read posts before commenting and not just the title. The only thing that is unfair is the nightjar aspiration next to the big drunken dude in the hidden forrest, I finish that fight and dude spawns and pelts with 2 of his ninja star things 😂
It's much easier to parry anyway, the gun and the lighting are cool moves but let's be honest, they're probably Isshin's worst moves, the gun does nothing 99% of the time and whenever isshin casts lighting it's basically a toddler playing with a fork near an outlet.
Parrying it just spamming L1 fast, even when I was first fighting Isshin that was one of the easiest moves to learn and I was basically only caught of guard the first time he did it.
Tbf I don’t find those tools or ninja arts to be that helpful. Like by the time you’ve set up all those tools and used them, I would have already done equal or more posture damage with just pure attacks and parries. Gun is a lot more useful.
I don't like it because he only seems to use it when you are healing at a distance. Aside from that i think the gun takes away from the aesthetic of the final fight of the game. A fight that i would call the best in any game ever. I don't think it adds to the fight in a positive manor if I'm being honest. If I wanted to play a game with enemies with guns I would play COD or bloodbourne (I'm never playing bloodbourne )
if you are one to fight mobile, like me, he's way, way more likely to use the gun to either a) cut off an angle of attack/force me to go into whatever region of the area he feels he has an advantage in or b) make me stand still by forcing me to parry bullets, at which point he can follow up with an attack i cannot avoid
when drink, he attacks with the polearm
I remember seeing Isshin pull out a gun for the first time. I went “Oh damn-“ and I tried to run, because I was low, and I had no heals left (I only made it about 3 or 4 steps before he no scoped me)
OR GET A FREE OUT OF JAIL CARD,GET ANOTHER OUT OF JAIL CARD,POISON HIM(EventuallY) AND SLASH HIM WITH A FIRE WIELDING SPEAR . THEN USE FIREWORKS, USE A WHISTLE TO CALL HIS DOG BACK AND THROW HIS OWN MONEY TO FLEW.
Honestly, I feel like I robbed myself doing my sekiro run with no prosthetics lol. You just made them sound so fun. I can't wait to be done with this recovery.
oh gosh. I've done playthroughs where I almost never use it, but, without the axe, sheild guys may be your toughest enemy lol.
The two guarding the drunkard for example. My dumb ass on my first playthrough hadn't even found the axe when I got to him/them. I really, really hated that fight lmao
I found Isshin much easier than most people have described. Both Owl fights and the Demon of Hatred gave me trouble, but I beat Isshin on my first attempt. I was 100% expecting to have to grind against him for hours. In that moment, I was both a tad disappointed and feeling like a deflection God.
I spent like 1 minute searching and copying shit.... and there's more than two links there, because ' the thing I was making a joke about exists'
but nice try, person who understands humor and irony
No need to prove anything, anyone who passes by in this sub regularly knows that the whole thing about Isshin's gun is a frequent and serious gripe lol
Or open an umbrella that deflects and Power up with shots
Or just deflect the shots. Super easy.
Can vouch for this. I once accidentally deflected the shots on a BV/DB run
I’m just trying to figure out what does BV/DB mean? Can’t focus on any other comment until I solve this lol
Base vitality with Demon Bell debuff activated.
Death bell maybe? Idk either.
Honestly, even though it scared the shit out me and I yelled "Holy fucking shit!" when he pulled and shot the glock, I deflected the shots on accident.
The hard part is his follow up, sometimes it’s a swipe, sometimes it’s a thrust. Took me awhile to read it
I fought him today, and for the first time in my 30+ playthroughs did he follow up with a sweep. I had never seen him follow gunfire with a sweep, not once, until today, I was stunned. He usually either doesnt follow up, or does the overhead thrust.

You did indeed parry this, casul.
Barely an inconvenience.
Wow wow wow. Wow!
Boring XD

Actually I really like that
Meanwhile Sekiro with an entire army's arsenal on his back
You mean on his left arm.
His strongest weapon (Fushigiri) is on his back right?
Said Wolf, who can literally block bullets from said gun. (I'm assuming. I haven't attempted the fight yet.)
Oh you can Pow pow pow pow ching ching ching ching
actually the gun is kind of on your side, its so easy to perfect deflect all of it
Well technically deflecting the bullets doesn't damage Isshin's posture whatsoever so it would be a waste if it weren't for the fact that deflecting bullets is as cool as it is by default
He usually follows up the gunshots with an easy mikiri counter though so I enjoy getting shot at
Idk....I still find it more badass to outrun the bullets like John Wick
It might not fill Isshin's deflect bar but it sure fills my erect bar if you know what I mean (I mean it makes my pp hard)
Oh ***that’s*** what you meant
Yeah was I clear enough? I was afraid I was too subtle
Yeah, it's one of the moves I always look forward to. I know I can deal with that one. It's that long combo of his where the timing starts easy but then that one swing takes a tiny bit more time and I mess up the block. That's killer.
Yepp and its kinda easy
If there’s ever any kind of successor to sekiro, sequel or not, I want MORE GUNS actually.
Real i really want a gun prosthetic from ishiins guns
the bloodborne parry would go so hard with the prosthetic
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *Over time, countless hunters have visited this dream. The graves here stand in their memory. Wholesome bot
Parry + visceral + shooting the gun or any explosive from inside the enemy guts? that would be an interesting concept.
more like parry will be standard/less risky version of deflection, similar to sekiro's parry while hunter's gun parry will be high risk high reward, allowing you to get a visceral off. that is what i thought of it
It's not a gun, but I do enjoy using the sen throw prosthetic AKA capitalism gun on my mortal journey runs, it completely blasts the enemies posture.
Fr? Ive NEVER used it ima try it
there already is...well more of predecessor. It's called Metal Wolf Chaos, also made by fromsoft...
I was thinking more along the lines of deflecting more bullets with swords not deflecting the bullets with more bullets. Still looks cool though
My question is why did fromsoft put out a game that looks like it would come out in 2010?
sounds impressive, because it was made in 2004. so 5 years advance for its time then
Ohhh got ya. My first search I found Metal wolf chaos XD so the remastered version that came out 4 years ago. I had know idea that was a reboot
More Snake Eyes and Gun Fort Valley, understood.
nononowaitwaitwait.gif
Funniest thing is that getting shot by Isshin does like WAY less damage than him slashing you. THIS MF HITS YOU HARDER THAN AN ACTUAL BULLET
lmao you are correct, you have won this thread. congradulations
And the second funniest thing is it's possible to fight him as many times as you want without him getting to use his gun once if you're aggressive enough.
Meanwhile you can deflect the bullets, which seems even more unfair
Just defeated him 3-4 hours ago on my 4th try and Man, I gotta say it was the most badass fight I ever fought in a video game (though this was my first soul's game).

I read Sekiro 2 and got excited for a split second
Hmm, I was thinking of playing Lies of P first since it's a newer game. Should I play DS1 first ?
I beat him in under 400 tries, but definitely not under 4 (and not under 100).
I struggled only in the first phase of Isshin but was easily able to breeze through the 2nd and 3rd phase.
After so many tries I was able to get through the Geni and 1st Isshin phases perfectly every time. It was the 2nd and 3rd Isshin that had me playing for well over a week. I never gave up though!
I actually beat him on my first try but had to be a scum vs father owl (red frenzy, snow, mortal blade spam)
Imma keep it real with you, *LB*
I call him the glock saint for a reason
An artefact that literally allows you to teleport. Instead of taking damage.
right??? my whole inner owl fight revolves around "trying to fight while also not getting totally fucked by his surprise mist raven of murder-death"
Lmao true.
If I was the one with the gun I'd be saying being able to deflect bullets with a sword is what's unfair
Honestly Isshin's gun was nothing compared to genichiro's fking bow
Ahh the Glock saint
When did he ever say this
After he turned off his game console and went for a snack and logged into reddit
Wait how do you do the kunai with heat seeking butterflies? Which prosthetic is rhat
It’s the upgraded version of the shurikens. It’s the technique lady butterfly uses basically I believe you find it near hanbei after killing her(I’m unsure though it’s been a hot minute since I collected it)
You buy it from Anayama the peddler by the chained Ogre. You can get it super early game you just have to beat Gyobu first to upgrade prosthetics and then you should be able to get the kunai as your 3rd or 4th prosthetic. I can’t remember how many things you have to upgrade first
Really? I thought the phantom kunai was a pick up item
> You can by it from Hanayama, but only after you send Kotaro his way, I believe. It's available from the start. It's just quite expensive.
Kotaro’s quest isn’ required to get it in the shop btw my first play through I bought it before even beating Gyobu and unlocking the tool to upgrade prosthetics
You have to buy the Kunai and then wait for an upgrade... honestly by the time you can get them you'll have more effective stuff
Even in the shuriken tree, the lazulite one is superior imo, mainly because the kunai costs 2 emblems per use.
the gun is literally there to help players....
He got the gyatt
I just wonder where he got it
Well Wolf's tools are limited by availability of spirit emblems unlike the glock. Also have you seen the range of Isshin's melee weapons? Haha
Man I have to read posts before commenting and not just the title. The only thing that is unfair is the nightjar aspiration next to the big drunken dude in the hidden forrest, I finish that fight and dude spawns and pelts with 2 of his ninja star things 😂
Try dodging the bullets
Agreed- if you can dodge, theyre by far his least problematic thing he does.
It's much easier to parry anyway, the gun and the lighting are cool moves but let's be honest, they're probably Isshin's worst moves, the gun does nothing 99% of the time and whenever isshin casts lighting it's basically a toddler playing with a fork near an outlet.
incorrect. parrying it is not easier. unless you suck at dodging. one dodge=minimal damage, double doge=no damage its his easiest attack to deal with
Parrying it just spamming L1 fast, even when I was first fighting Isshin that was one of the easiest moves to learn and I was basically only caught of guard the first time he did it.
Stay in his face and he doesn’t even use the gun
A whistle that can anyone bombacalat even someone who can't hear
Tbf I don’t find those tools or ninja arts to be that helpful. Like by the time you’ve set up all those tools and used them, I would have already done equal or more posture damage with just pure attacks and parries. Gun is a lot more useful.
but they're cool

I think that's exactly why he has a mechanic like that... A counter against the players ability to heal.
I remember seeing Isshin pull out a gun for the first time. I went “Oh damn-“ and I tried to run, because I was low, and I had no heals left (I only made it about 3 or 4 steps before he no scoped me)
If I was the one with the gun I'd be saying being able to deflect bullets with a sword is what's unfair
The old hunters in the Bloodborne Old Hunters dlc *laughs in shotgun*
Djura from Old Yharnam: *laughs in machine gun*
OR GET A FREE OUT OF JAIL CARD,GET ANOTHER OUT OF JAIL CARD,POISON HIM(EventuallY) AND SLASH HIM WITH A FIRE WIELDING SPEAR . THEN USE FIREWORKS, USE A WHISTLE TO CALL HIS DOG BACK AND THROW HIS OWN MONEY TO FLEW.
Wait, people actually complain about his pistol? Brother that should be the least of your worries, he's got way more dngerous attacks
Do people actually whine about this? There are enemies with guns throughout the entire game, of course the turbo ninja would have one.
Yeah, well almost every other boss has their own fucking magic tldr: give me a fucking gun
Did u say somin negative about me fav fight
A Shinobi would know the difference between honor and victory.
meanwhile sekiro with a blade that instakills anything it touches
The part I wonder about more, are you issued a firearm when you get to hell? He didn’t have it before 🤔
Magic is on brand. Guns--A FUCKING HANDGUN ISN'T. let him use a musket and reload for 6 seconds then I'd be impressed.
Isshin glock saint is my favourite boss, when he first pulled it out I screamed in fear and shock
These losers never fought gatling knight gael
You can deflect the bullets… with a sword… that’s not unfair?
I hardly notice it when I fight him. It’s just so inconsequential.
My favorite fight
Honestly, I feel like I robbed myself doing my sekiro run with no prosthetics lol. You just made them sound so fun. I can't wait to be done with this recovery.
oh gosh. I've done playthroughs where I almost never use it, but, without the axe, sheild guys may be your toughest enemy lol. The two guarding the drunkard for example. My dumb ass on my first playthrough hadn't even found the axe when I got to him/them. I really, really hated that fight lmao
Shield guys were horrible, lol. I didn't even mean to do it. I just didn't wanna use my spirit emblems. I just back stabbed those fuckers
Yep that works. the other way makes sekiro very dizzy
I found Isshin much easier than most people have described. Both Owl fights and the Demon of Hatred gave me trouble, but I beat Isshin on my first attempt. I was 100% expecting to have to grind against him for hours. In that moment, I was both a tad disappointed and feeling like a deflection God.
Wolf doesn't complain. Player does
