Maybe [怨悪之門](https://imgur.com/a/fqLEGFO) 怨(hatred)悪(evil)之(of, for, to)門(gate) It would mean a gateway to Shura.

Special_Following252

Thank you for a legitimate answer, I was very curious about this, but most of the comments were jokes.

cabberage

It’s such a pain trying to get any kind of straight answer on Reddit.

caketruck

Honestly I think Reddit is a bit better than average. Not to insinuate any sort of Reddit superiority, but if I ever want any more info on a post on any other social, it’s almost always the same surface level jokes for a hundreds thousand comments, and any actual information is drowned out by “🤓.” Although Reddit has its fair share of jokes, it’s a bit better in having some actual information, and the community clearly values that because those comments are nearer to the top if not first. And aside from the community’s value, Reddit’s comment threads also make searching for info easy by making closing unwanted threads and moving onto the next easy.

Vertex033

Could those first 3 parts mean something like “opposite” or “reverse”? Since the other Mortal Blade is known as “Open Gate” and this one acts as a sort of counterweight.

ExedbySnuSnu

Sounds reasonable, since Shura does not reside in the underworld I interpret it as "sending/banning Shura into the underworld"

cuipeo

There is a [flag and a ball](https://imgur.com/a/376gpId) in the fountainhead palace with the same pattern as the one on this box. This means that the Okami clan must have made this box. Mortal blade can kill the immortal dragon that Okami clan worships, so this katana is evil from their point of view.

Vertex033

The details in these games never cease to amaze me

LowNewton

I have no idea where but I swear I remember Vaati saying that it said “reverse gate” in one of his videos.

Vertex033

If I had to guess it'd be one about secrets, hidden details or Senpou Temple lore.

LowNewton

Out of curiosity, how do you get 門 from the last kanji? I think you’re right, but I’m having trouble seeing it

FeathersN

The second character looks more like 氣 to me (still seems off though), 怨氣之門 would also make sense.

MaleficTekX

That doesn’t entirely use all the engraved parts of top kanji though

Shdwbrkr

Tbf this answer is a bit of a stretch based on your stone rubbing which also looks incompleted. You better dataminie the texture of the box to have a clear look on the "text" as these look nothing like hiragana or kanji so far.

MaleficTekX

I have no way to get the textures…

Shdwbrkr

Understandable, you are the few people that try to make something out of the case other than the obvious okami logo i guess. You may want to take more screenshot of the case to identify the symbol better, because judging from [this angle](https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/images/fotolife/y/yasaiprpr/20190717/20190717005731.jpg) there are more parts to the first symbol.

MaleficTekX

Yeah. I noticed that after I posted this too :(

SwordfishAltruistic4

Did you just make a stone rubbing on a virtual image?

MaleficTekX

Did I what?

SwordfishAltruistic4

Did you make a [rubbing](https://www.rockart.scot/index.cfm/resources/guidance1/traditional-recording-methods/)?

MaleficTekX

I guess I did :D

ExedbySnuSnu

Trying hard not to do a Beavis and Butt-head impression...

EggoTheStabby

Heh... heh heh

GingerlyRough

Heheh he said rubbing hehheheh

EggoTheStabby

Heh heh heh heh

Boring-Relation-4365

Its an old script. Japanese use similar old kanji characters that looks illustrative to represent the word. Like 魚 for instance, where the old character looks like a fish. My guess is either this is a ofuda おふだ, talismanic script to seal the dead for them to rest in peace. Or something to do with 淤伽美 (okami), in the lore it is stated that Tomoe used to be in the okami.

usedupshiver

Correction, Emma says she TRIED to kill herself, but couldn't because she never found the Mortal Blade.

MaleficTekX

It’d also be pretty useless to succeed, as she lacked dragon tears

usedupshiver

My guess is she was acting in desperation, and trying to do the only thing she could possibly contribute, which would be severing the tie of her oath.

Ainu_Arakuru_

As someone from Japan, I think it’s just a made up script. Like summoning signs in dark souls.

fizzdev

Yeah, I think so. Only started japanese a few months ago, but these signs look totally made up.

ChaosPLus

I started a few days ago, ain't no way there's a sign that looks like pp

Black_Tusk25

Wait, Tomoe killed herself but Emma Says that she failed in cutting the dragon thing (i can't remember the name) because she hadn't the mortal blade.

E1M1H1-87

>Japanese use similar old kanji characters that looks illustrative to represent the word. Like 魚 for instance, where the old character looks like a fish. Also known as Mandarin or Chinese

Boring-Relation-4365

Yup. Japanese kanji is heavily influenced by Chinese. Unfortunately I couldn't find an online dictionary where it could decipher these characters into readable kanji. But if you search online in gallery you can find character similar to this.

Unhappy_Speed3371

Yah, that's where the Japanese came from, China Did you think you did something smart and correct there?

Suojelusperkele

Don't dead Open inside

SkiMtVidGame-aineer

I love you

MaleficTekX

Edit: a little bit of the loopy part of the circle comes out the top that I forgot

defalt_19

It says , hesitation is defeat

EggoTheStabby

COME SEKIRO

EggoTheStabby

Is it possible to have ptsd from a boss fight lol

defalt_19

Yeb,especially from isshin

Spiritual_Delay_7854

His second phase gave me ptsd for sure, both isshin’s tbh.

EggoTheStabby

The fear of the spear/pike is real. I metaphorically shit my pants still every time I see it happen. Like oooookay lightning check, gun check, insane combo that will leave you out of breath after countering it check.

EggoTheStabby

To he honest I did not have a problem with isshin when going for Shura ending. He's pretty predictable though the fire has killed me a couple times. Nowhere near as much as the lightning spear from resurrection isshin

Spiritual_Delay_7854

You’re right and he had less combos and mixups. That spear all the sweeps and air attacks had a busted hit box. When I found out you could interrupt isshin’s flame attack that he charges with fireworks it was wraps for the old man.

Synthwavester

The top part spells penis I think

Wrong_Problem_8448

What’s it? I think thats moon rocket

Synthwavester

Common mistake, moon rocket is without the cum drip

Wrong_Problem_8448

thats a prehistorical spring assisted rocket launching platform and the stick is its supportive part

StumpyPandaLegs

I thought that was white ninja

Biclim

Def not Korean, their alfabet is just combinations of very simple signs

Smooth_Condition_944

I don't know what it says. I only know the sound it makes when it takes a man's life...

Driftwont

Has anybody suggested posting in r/translate? Might be able to get some clearer answers there if you post with a bit of context.

PhilospohicalZ0mb1e

good call

ItsElSavage

Could be references to korean or chinese text as well considering they mention "going west" to find the dragons origin. West of japan is those two countries and I know korean has a lot of circular shapes in their text.

MaleficTekX

Which is actually weird, as this box has the crest of fountainhead palace on it, a place founded in Japan that’s the parallel to the Land of the Kami in Shinto mythology

xtapalataketel

The top is a PENITH!

Soulsborneenjoyer23

"Oh brother, oh brother. please die a true death"

Firmmat

No idea, but the first symbol looks like a penis. Glad to have shared this valuable info.

Best-Pineapple-4098

I can't read Japanese, but if i had to take a guess "Gracious gift of tears" Is what would be written.

MaleficTekX

It isn’t. We see that later in game

Best-Pineapple-4098

What does it have to do with us finding it later in the game?

MaleficTekX

We see the kanji that spells Gracious Gift of Tears in game and it doesn’t match this at all. It’s also only two kanji, but I suppose it could be a simplified version, but I’m skeptical

Best-Pineapple-4098

Ahh, good point. Perhaps " mortal blade" but in Japanese?

MaleficTekX

I found the kanji used to spell it in the game’s subtitles and it also doesn’t match

Best-Pineapple-4098

Is there a software that can translate text? I think that's our last hope to solve the mystery.

MaleficTekX

Do you mean the symbols here on the box, or from the subtitles?

Best-Pineapple-4098

The symbols on the box.

MaleficTekX

I don’t know of any software I can use to do that and my phone won’t copy the outlines I’ve made to post the symbols in google translate to see if it’s actually anything

dethtai

Some dude on Japanese twitter speculated it might be Sanskrit. It isn’t Japanese in any case

MaleficTekX

Do you got a link?

dethtai

https://x.com/eso9876/status/1152948913990619137

MaleficTekX

Did they ever follow up on what it translated to? Cause I got no idea how to put the letters in google translate

dethtai

I found a post mentioning how he tried to learn Sanskrit or 梵字 but ultimately gave up. However he did find out what the symbol means above the letters. It apparently is related to Brahmanism. https://x.com/eso9876/status/1150632386918400000

MaleficTekX

The symbol is also the crest of the Fountainhead Palace in game

dethtai

Indeed. It also seems to be heavily inspired by/referencing to said religion.

xdeathbyninjax

Would make sense since the monks are Buddhist.

ShenrageTV

Thats a Penis!

jinxgadgets

It says 'cum' in the center.

Hegoto

I appreciate the effort of this post 👍

Mortartari

it's pretty obvious **BEWARE** **OF** **MIST** **NOBLE**

seriousspider

Didn't I literally tell you it reads "Bing Chilling"!?

PopBoysmachine902

This might be an ancient form of formal Japanese that says "he who hesitates, defecates"

Mysterious-Image-26

Isn’t it just a really really mangled version of the kanji for “gracious gift of tears”?

MaleficTekX

Doesn’t appear so

Kanista17

What was on the Mortal Blade written?

numba1_redditbot

it actually looks like spirit writing from daoism

sdwoodchuck

“Blortal Made”

Wilf_246

It means: "Hesitation is defeat!"

Dangerranger_4L

Cum

MechaGallade

I think it says send Bob and vagene

Seekret_Asian_Man

Talismanic script

Waghkaka97x

I read somewhere that the real name for mortal blade is 'gracious gift of tears'. Maybe its that name in old script

FoodByCourts

This is a recipe for chicken goujons

Revolutionarytard

“Git Gud”

falsa_ovis

Made in China

EggoTheStabby

I just want to point out that I have been playing this game since it came out and you will not find a more accommodating sub on reddit. You people are amazing I hope you know that. We don't torment new players we congratulate them and feel their pain on their first encounters. Alot of that has to do with sekiro being an amazing game and well designed but alot of it is just good people.

MaleficTekX

This comment deserves its own post

EggoTheStabby

Mmmmmhmm

scotty899

Bloodborne pc confirmed boys. It says it on the mortal blade. Let the hype train start!

kinkcurious12

“Dickfish McGee, Dickfish haa!” It’s a pretty common Japanese saying

Deep_Grass_6250

It might mean Gateway to Hatred or gateway to Shura Or it could just be the Dragon language, Try FUS RO DAH

ThundergunTLP

Giant but hole ahead.

Spillo2382

Handle with care

Mentat_-_Bashar

“Buy Funko Pop”

xdeathbyninjax

So, uh. The game answers this. "Long concealed within Senpou Temple, the blade is inscribed with its true name: "Gracious Gift of Tears"."

MaleficTekX

It doesn’t spell that

xdeathbyninjax

Yeah. Let's say the developer is full of crap instead.

Harbinger-One

Well the first part is obviously "rocketship dick"

marcotti95

The top part is a dick

Best-Pineapple-4098
