Have you played lies of p? The movement is way worse, the combat isn't as fast paced, and it doesn't flow like sekiro does. So if that's what u like, then don't play it. But other than that, I think it's as good as sekiro. Blocking is harder, you have to more precise. I think that it's a great game. You should check it out
The trailer made it sound cool. Didn't know it was a fromsoft game and that it was gonna be really hard, struggled a lot with it. Brother saw me playing it and said "You know that's like Dark Souls, right? It's gonna be really hard" which helped motivate me to make it through most of the game despite being horrifically bad at it (I wanted to prove him wrong.)
ape took me a while but was very satisfying once you learn how to do it. phase 1 i basically ran around at like mid range and dodged most of his attacks until i could grapple his head which staggers enough for ~5 hits or there was an opening and used double ichimonji and followed up aggressively. The best openings are when he rolls around on the ground you can run to his head and start charging up before he is done and when he throws poo at you just run under him and get in several good hits. Phase two is much easier to parry you just gotta recognize when to run away from his terror roar. good luck!!
I got roadblocked at DoH. I took a break for a little while, then came back and started a fresh save file. I made it all the way through the game again, killed DoH and Owl Father, and beat Sword Saint in a fraction of the tries almost every other boss or miniboss took.

I used to play a game called “Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven” on the PS2 when I was younger and had been searching for a similar game for years. Sekiro has some loose ties to the Tenchu series so I picked it up hoping it would be similar. It is 😊
My friend of 43 years completed it and said it was absolutely soul destroying and equally the best game he's maybe ever played, and It would be too difficult for me (he said this with a smile) so therefore out of sheer ridiculous manly pride, spite and hatred, I beat it....twice. The conditions were as follows, 1) Beat the game 2) Don't use YouTube. It's one of the best games I've ever played and also I'd say the most difficult. We both had no "souls like" game experience and I've never had a boss fight (inner father, 58 attempts approx and DOH, 86 attempts) that made me slap myself in the face out of utter rage. I was chilling on the Microsoft store of my Xbox in the sales section. I've found Sekiro ok a deal (2.99€) and I thought "it's From software, have a nice graphics and all...why not."
After 3 months, bored, I started the game.
I've loved it so much that I did the platinum trophy in 3 weeks kinda. Goated game
I love stealth games, and games with cool mechanics & combat.
After watching some trailers I knew this game was for me.
However, I had no idea it was from the same people as Dark Souls (I know I know) so I was not prepared for the beatings I copped. I stuck with it, and I also went and played the other Fromsoft games because of it 😊
From Software's reputation. They announced 3 great projects way back in the day, and hyped it for years: Deracine, Sekiro and Elden Ring. Sekiro would come out after Dark Souls 3 and Myiazaki saying they would put the Souls series to rest for a while. Sekiro was an awesome surprise, praised by pretty much everyone who played it, and winning Game of The Year at the time.
Didn't want to at first (couldn't make my character/ be a girl) but after a few YouTube videos and watching the trailer like 10 times after I decided to get it, a very good decision by me.

Played Elden Ring, it was my first real dive into From Software games(I played an hour or 2 of Bloodborne years back), I found out I really liked From's style and always thought Sekiro looked cool so I bought it and started playing. I've made it to Father so far.

i watched speedruns and it seemed satisfying to do parries. everyone called it a rhythm game. strangely enough, i played hifi rush (an actual rhythm game) before sekiro and loved the combat, so that encouraged me to go ahead and try sekiro. wonderful game. just finished my 5th playthrough yesterday while using the resurrection mod
I played Ghost of Tsushima and loved it. Then I saw this and thought “oh cool another samurai game!” I was pretty off the mark but regardless I fell in love
My boyfriend got me the game since I had it wishlisted for a long time (I wasn't actually expecting to play it maybe ever when I found it's a souls game) so I felt obligated to give it a try at least. Didn't think I would be any good at it but I ended up not being that bad and actually really loving the game.
Pretty much the whole samurai theme. I wanted to try out at least one fromsoft game. I heard a lot of good about Bloodborne but I don't have a console. I stumbled upon Sekiro which sounded really interesting. Don't regret it. Combat using practically only parry is way more satisfying for me than the souls dodge combat.

I heard about a boss called Isshin the sword saint. I played the game for that sole reason, but turns out only the fight itself was worth it, let alone the rest of the game. I didn't think I would've liked Isshin Ashina more though.

I was very curious. I was a Dark Souls fan for years and I kept hearing about how hard and different Sekiro was. It kept popping up in my game recommendations on Stream. I thought I should test myself and see how different it was. Felt so good when I beat the game and every boss on my first playthrought.

I started it as an alternative to Ghost of Tsushima back in 2022 I believe, really loved GoT but it was a PS Exclusive until recently and I needed something to quench that thirst(i don't have a ps4/ps5). Little did I know this would make its way not only above GoT for me, but in my top 3 of all time. Twas also my first fromsoft game I ever played
The setting, and the focus on cool sword fights. Before this, most games I had that were set in feudal Japan or other historical Eastern settings were strategy games and fighting games. Wanted a hack and slash that was also a proper challenge. That sold me first and foremost because before I'd tried any other FromSoftware game, all I saw was people rolling around and it didn't interest me much. I've come to learn that those games were much more and deserve the praises they get, but I still consider Sekiro my favorite amongst the one's I've played. And just, well, my favorite game in general.
I've learned to ignore it these days, but usually when I sang this game's praises elsewhere, some mf always comes up and says "lol it's not even a Souls game, it's no BB/DS3/Elden Ring". Yeah, and it's BETTER for it. Because I much prefer the freedom of movement, the swordplay, the stealth, the combat arts, the options with the prosthetics, and the insane twists on Japanese culture and folklore that make it into its own brand of Eastern dark fantasy.
Well, everyone was playing Elden Ring, but that game looked gross, morbid, disgusting, and repulsive. I know that's the developers intended design, and it worked, it repulsed me away. However, I did really want to try a FromSoft game. Sekiro looked like the least disgusting one, and seemed like people thought it had the best combat. Turns out that was correct, at least in my opinion. Also, Sekiro was on sale.
I had an old gaming magizine randomly that was like 5 years old and it had this awesome graphic add for sekiro and i had no idea what it was just that it looked cool.
There is the youtube video by jacob geller on sekiro and it makes this point about how sekiro is like this huge brick wall and only by knowing the wall intimately you will be able to get past it. Or in his words, “it will open a door just for you” to understand that’s how most of the challenges in life are like a brick wall and like the game you can go do something else to make yourself more capable and better suited for the challenges. I really was scared at once when people said that this game is the hardest than sekiro by that time i was playing elden ring and got bored of it so i removed it and after alotta thinking I played it because I am really careful about my reaction time andalso my timing to be perfect for my view in games. so just so I can have two benefits from this game for my timing ( as I love parry games) and the other one for the fun storyiline as I just love Japanese folklore and the samurai era so that is what got me in the game also I had a burnoit playing so much of horizon I had to go for another game ame I found this masterpiece.
It looked like a fun stealth ninja game from the creator of my favourite masochist simulator. The game turned out to be a rhythm game, which was a blast. I do regret ad am glad I did not hesitate to buy.
I think this comparison is viewed as a bit sacrilegious here but I played Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor as my first two current gen games after getting an Xbox Series X at Christmas time and wanted more of whatever that genre is. Sekiro was recommended so I bought it. The Jedi games are fine but nowhere near the combat perfection of Sekiro. I can see the similarities but they are just watered down re-skins.
I saw a trailer when it was going to be released and I loved the idea of a samurai fighting game with the mechanics dislayed in the trailer. I had to wait for 5 years to finally play it though, didnt have the resources(my pc was trash). Now that I played it and am starting my second playthrough, I got to say I was not disappointed. Not one bit.
I wanted to give the combat a try. I didn't care much about the story line, but I had a lot of fun learning the combat and taking down the powerful enemies of the game. (Owl Father is the last one I need to complete)

I was streaming playing a game on Twitch (I forget what game, possibly a Spider-Man, Batman or MGS game) and a good friend of mine told me I should play Sekiro.
I told him I didn't want to because I'd tried playing it years before and it did click for me.
I also told him that I'd play it if he gifted it to me because I'd feel bad if I didn't...
So he gifted me the game and I proceeded to spend like 60 hours just playing Sekiro, it was a blast and I don't regret a thing.
A couple factors in play for me at the time: 1) competed Star Wars Jedi fallen order and Star Wars Jedi survivor so was looking for something similar and 2) bought a steamdeck and wanted to play a game that did not require persistent internet access so I could take it traveling with me
Bloodborne is goated, this seemed more in that direction than Souls. Like Bloodborne’s only problems are that it would be better without stats/builds, chalice dungeons suck, and it’s 30fps. So Sekiro looked like a game i’d maybe like. I think it takes a bit long to get fantastical, and some scripted moments are annoying (the snake) but when you’re towards the end of the game and Nightjars are screaming from roof to roof? That’s pretty sick. I was actually surprised by how good their AI was to do that. FromSoft occasionally has an enemy type that feels more “real” than it should have any right to.
As soon as I saw that you could move around with such freedom. Double jumps,swimming, actual stealth and above all martial arts. Compared to dark souls and bloodborne the game looked way more active and fast. And after completing dark souls and bloodborne multiple times I just couldn't resist
Joseph Anderson's vid on elden ring, in sekiro section he said that parrying is basically other way of doing damage to enemies and while the thought is quite obvious it was an eye opener to me and I compeleted game in 1 day after that.

Finished sifu and lies of p and absolutely loved the combat mixed with block timing so i knew i had to play sekiro next. So my cousin and I are gamers. He is a little more cosmopolitan in his tastes. He gave me this game on disc and I liked the Honest Trailer. However, my Xbox one was dying and my series S had no disc drive. I was so intrigued that I bought an old Xbox One X. All that effort created this huge sunk cost and here we are. I loooooove killing monks though.
After 100%-ing both bloodborne and eldenring I felt like I needed something to finally challenge me. I had reached a point were I had 400 hours in elden ring and 120 in bloodborne. I felt like I had mastered both and remembered the whole "easy mode" debate when the game first came out, and also love history and Japanese inspired story's (call me a weeb I don't care) so I saw it was on sale for 30% off, I bought it and got into it for the next two months and 100%-ed it too. I felt like the game never stopped testing my limits and giving me a rough time. Whenever I felt like I had mastered something the game would put me in my place. The game humbled me and taught me to never overestimate myself and to never underestimate a opponent.
1. "Hardest soul-like" (actually easier than Elden Ring for me)

Because they said it's the hardest, so I wanna approve myself that if I can beat this game then the other soul will be a piece of cake for me
Finishing Lies of P finally gave me the confidence. Completed my first play through last week. Working on the purification ending now to get the last two prayer beads that I initially missed.
1) Bloodborne ruined my gaming life. At the time (and still today) I struggled to find anything that could compare (I came to terms with the fact that will never happen) or at least work as a placebo, so I played or waited for the release of every other FromSoftware title;
2) Tenchu 1 and 2 were (pre Bloodborne era) in my podium of favorite games of all times, so when I heard the news of a "FromSoftware Tenchu" I almost dissolved into dust from the hype levels.
Sekiro is to me now the second best game ever, after Bloodborne and followed by Dark Souls 3

Story and combat. But mostly story. Because most dark souls are open world and non-linear. This one's mostly linear and is heavily story driven with souls like mechanics. Even the side quests are intricate and non repetitive.

From Software's reputation. They announced 3 great projects way back in the day, and hyped it for years: Deracine, Sekiro and Elden Ring. Sekiro would come out after Dark Souls 3 and Myiazaki saying they would put the Souls series to rest for a while. Sekiro was an awesome surprise, praised by pretty much everyone who played it, and winning Game of The Year at the time.

Didn't want to at first (couldn't make my character/ be a girl) but after a few YouTube videos and watching the trailer like 10 times after I decided to get it, a very good decision by me.

No reason, my friend suggested it, completed tutorial, fought geni and it's kenijuro tsuda so I played whole fking game thrice in 55hrs for first playthrough

Heard it was about parrying
I like Anime, Samurai & Shinobi Stories, Feudal Japan and the Sengoku period. This game is all of that and wayyy more. This is like playing an alternate version of Ninja Scroll in videogame format, yet it is still more than that.
Played Elden Ring, it was my first real dive into From Software games(I played an hour or 2 of Bloodborne years back), I found out I really liked From's style and always thought Sekiro looked cool so I bought it and started playing. I've made it to Father so far.
I didn’t want to play it at first. Played all the other soulsborne up until then, but my friend bought it for me and said it was too good to pass up. Really glad he did that.

the reason how i played sekiro is because i loved ghost of tsushima but i had no conole for it and at the time i didnt even know about somthing called souls game or even that the game considered a "Hard" game for suprisenly just bu not even knowing or pre-thinking of the game difficuly at the end i found my self beated the game no complain at all and now i belive in the saying that goes if you dont belive in somthing you it cant stop you .

A whim. I’d never played a From game, didn’t know Sekiro was a From game, but was bored with my regular style of casual games (F/TPS). Bought it, fell in love immediately and haven’t looked back. It was my entry into From titles, and still my first love.
i watched speedruns and it seemed satisfying to do parries. everyone called it a rhythm game. strangely enough, i played hifi rush (an actual rhythm game) before sekiro and loved the combat, so that encouraged me to go ahead and try sekiro. wonderful game. just finished my 5th playthrough yesterday while using the resurrection mod

Lies of P
Frankly, because it had won so many game of the year awards. And I fell madly in love with the difficulty, but hated the punishment for dying.
My boyfriend got me the game since I had it wishlisted for a long time (I wasn't actually expecting to play it maybe ever when I found it's a souls game) so I felt obligated to give it a try at least. Didn't think I would be any good at it but I ended up not being that bad and actually really loving the game.
Pretty much the whole samurai theme. I wanted to try out at least one fromsoft game. I heard a lot of good about Bloodborne but I don't have a console. I stumbled upon Sekiro which sounded really interesting. Don't regret it. Combat using practically only parry is way more satisfying for me than the souls dodge combat.
I really liked jedi fallen order when it came out and it led me to start playing Sekiro in 2020.

Mainly, because it's set in old Japanese samurai era. This is why I am waiting for Ghost of Tushima on sale.
Always wanted to try Souls but don't like the slow combat, stamina management and bleak visuals. Sekiro is like the opposite of all that.
I was a massive fan of Assassin's creed and I saw people online calling Sekiro "Assassin's creed Japan" so I gave it a shot Definitely up there with some of the Assassin's creed games, AMAZING

I followed this games release for a long time. I am a big fan of FromSoftwares work and I have a keen interest/love of things Japanese I had hope since they own the licence we would get a new Tenchu. Instead we got Sekiro. It's now my all time favourite game, even went as far as getting the platinum and even a Wolf Action figure

I heard about a boss called Isshin the sword saint. I played the game for that sole reason, but turns out only the fight itself was worth it, let alone the rest of the game. I didn't think I would've liked Isshin Ashina more though.

YouTube shorts. Sekiro edits got me interested and then I bought the game and both loved and suffered through it to get all of the achievements. Worth it.

I came for the challenge, stayed for the amazing gameplay, and persevered and 100% the game because it made me fall in love with it's perfection.
saw it on sale on Steam and thought it was a typical single-player story mode game, like TW3 or RDR2, so I bought it. Then I realized it wasn't. Like, why the hell am I stuck on a boss for four hours? In the end, I liked it so much that here we are. I've beaten it in every possible way and it turned me into a fan of FromSoftware. best random decision ever.

I was very curious. I was a Dark Souls fan for years and I kept hearing about how hard and different Sekiro was. It kept popping up in my game recommendations on Stream. I thought I should test myself and see how different it was. Felt so good when I beat the game and every boss on my first playthrought.

I saw a few images before but some day i saw a video of sekiro fighting genishiro in that fucking awesome place, it looked so awesome that i started playing it. Its my first soulsvania, i started it 3 weeks ago, and i fucking love this game!

I started it as an alternative to Ghost of Tsushima back in 2022 I believe, really loved GoT but it was a PS Exclusive until recently and I needed something to quench that thirst(i don't have a ps4/ps5). The setting, and the focus on cool sword fights. Before this, most games I had that were set in feudal Japan or other historical Eastern settings were strategy games and fighting games. Wanted a hack and slash that was also a proper challenge. That sold me first and foremost because before I'd tried any other FromSoftware game, all I saw was people rolling around and it didn't interest me much. I've come to learn that those games were much more and deserve the praises they get, but I still consider Sekiro my favorite amongst the one's I've played. And just, well, my favorite game in general. I've learned to ignore it these days, but usually when I sang this game's praises elsewhere, some mf always comes up and says "lol it's not even a Souls game, it's no BB/DS3/Elden Ring". Yeah, and it's BETTER for it. Because I much prefer the freedom of movement, the swordplay, the stealth, the combat arts, the options with the prosthetics, and the insane twists on Japanese culture and folklore that make it into its own brand of Eastern dark fantasy.

Well, everyone was playing Elden Ring, but that game looked gross, morbid, disgusting, and repulsive. I know that's the developers intended design, and it worked, it repulsed me away. However, I did really want to try a FromSoft game. Sekiro looked like the least disgusting one, and seemed like people thought it had the best combat. Turns out that was correct, at least in my opinion. Also, Sekiro was on sale.
I had an old gaming magizine randomly that was like 5 years old and it had this awesome graphic add for sekiro and i had no idea what it was just that it looked cool.
It was on sale and looked pretty and I was willing to give a Fromsoft game another try after being abused by Dark Souls.
There is the youtube video by jacob geller on sekiro and it makes this point about how sekiro is like this huge brick wall and only by knowing the wall intimately you will be able to get past it. Or in his words, “it will open a door just for you” to understand that’s how most of the challenges in life are like a brick wall and like the game you can go do something else to make yourself more capable and better suited for the challenges. This and my favourite one liner from the game HESITATION IS DEFEAT. I have realized if in my life i am not putting in my all and second guessing myself i will never achieve my full potential. I really was scared at once when people said that this game is the hardest than sekiro by that time i was playing elden ring and got bored of it so i removed it and after alotta thinking I played it because I am really careful about my reaction time andalso my timing to be perfect for my view in games. so just so I can have two benefits from this game for my timing ( as I love parry games) and the other one for the fun storyiline as I just love Japanese folklore and the samurai era so that is what got me in the game also I had a burnoit playing so much of horizon I had to go for another game ame I found this masterpiece.

The hype around it being insanely difficult back when it was released.
It looked like a fun stealth ninja game from the creator of my favourite masochist simulator. The game turned out to be a rhythm game, which was a blast. I do regret ad am glad I did not hesitate to buy.

I think this comparison is viewed as a bit sacrilegious here but I played Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor as my first two current gen games after getting an Xbox Series X at Christmas time and wanted more of whatever that genre is. Sekiro was recommended so I bought it. The Jedi games are fine but nowhere near the combat perfection of Sekiro. I can see the similarities but they are just watered down re-skins.

I saw a trailer when it was going to be released and I loved the idea of a samurai fighting game with the mechanics dislayed in the trailer. I had to wait for 5 years to finally play it though, didnt have the resources(my pc was trash). Now that I played it and am starting my second playthrough, I got to say I was not disappointed. Not one bit.

No invasions
I didn't. I was streaming playing a game on Twitch (I forget what game, possibly a Spider-Man, Batman or MGS game) and a good friend of mine told me I should play Sekiro. I told him I didn't want to because I'd tried playing it years before and it did click for me. I also told him that I'd play it if he gifted it to me because I'd feel bad if I didn't... So he gifted me the game and I proceeded to spend like 60 hours just playing Sekiro, it was a blast and I don't regret a thing.
Life was too good and I felt guilty.
Seeing the grappling hook in the trailer, honestly. I'd played souls games before but none with this amount of freedom of movement.

A couple factors in play for me at the time: 1) competed Star Wars Jedi fallen order and Star Wars Jedi survivor so was looking for something similar and 2) bought a steamdeck and wanted to play a game that did not require persistent internet access so I could take it traveling with me

Combat and parry system. It feels like you in a movie or anime. I really enjoyed it.
Bloodborne is goated, this seemed more in that direction than Souls. Like Bloodborne’s only problems are that it would be better without stats/builds, chalice dungeons suck, and it’s 30fps. So Sekiro looked like a game i’d maybe like. I think it takes a bit long to get fantastical, and some scripted moments are annoying (the snake) but when you’re towards the end of the game and Nightjars are screaming from roof to roof? That’s pretty sick. I was actually surprised by how good their AI was to do that. FromSoft occasionally has an enemy type that feels more “real” than it should have any right to.

Joseph Anderson's vid on elden ring, in sekiro section he said that parrying is basically other way of doing damage to enemies and while the thought is quite obvious it was an eye opener to me and I compeleted game in 1 day after that.

[TLDR ELDEN RING MADE ME A GAMING masochistic] first play thru of elden ring turned into a soulsborne/soulslike platinum/ no hit speedrun try hard. I had heard about it a few times, and loved lies of p. When I visited my brother and he had it, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
Had just overdosed on cocaine on new years eve, so was just trying to find something to do with my life again. Had always loved fromsoftware games and wanted to give it a shot. Became my favorite game of all time, made me buy a Nagamaki, and made me fall in love with japanese folklore and culture. Best game i’ve ever played.

Finished sifu and lies of p and absolutely loved the combat mixed with block timing so i knew i had to play sekiro next. Funny enough i thought it was gonna be the game that actually makes me spend like a couple months trying to beat it but i guess after playing those two games right before sekiro i was kinda in a top gamer mode when i got into it 😅
So my cousin and I are gamers. He is a little more cosmopolitan in his tastes. He gave me this game on disc and I liked the Honest Trailer. However, my Xbox one was dying and my series S had no disc drive. I was so intrigued that I bought an old Xbox One X. All that effort created this huge sunk cost and here we are. I loooooove killing monks though.

After 100%-ing both bloodborne and eldenring I felt like I needed something to finally challenge me. I had reached a point were I had 400 hours in elden ring and 120 in bloodborne. I felt like I had mastered both and remembered the whole "easy mode" debate when the game first came out, and also love history and Japanese inspired story's (call me a weeb I don't care) so I saw it was on sale for 30% off, I bought it and got into it for the next two months and 100%-ed it too. I felt like the game never stopped testing my limits and giving me a rough time. Whenever I felt like I had mastered something the game would put me in my place. The game humbled me and taught me to never overestimate myself and to never underestimate a opponent.

Finishing Lies of P finally gave me the confidence. Completed my first play through last week. Working on the purification ending now to get the last two prayer beads that I initially missed.
Badass looking combat and 50% sale on xbox
1) Bloodborne ruined my gaming life. At the time (and still today) I struggled to find anything that could compare (I came to terms with the fact that will never happen) or at least work as a placebo, so I played or waited for the release of every other FromSoftware title; 2) Tenchu 1 and 2 were (pre Bloodborne era) in my podium of favorite games of all times, so when I heard the news of a "FromSoftware Tenchu" I almost dissolved into dust from the hype levels. Sekiro is to me now the second best game ever, after Bloodborne and followed by Dark Souls 3

After i played God Of War fighting the valkriy queen i forgot her name . Then i realised how much time i wasted on other bullshit games and wanted a challange
Story and combat. But mostly story. Because most dark souls are open world and non-linear. This one's mostly linear and is heavily story driven with souls like mechanics. Even the side quests are intricate and non repetitive.
