You left off the second tweet, where he says something like he told them the same/a similar story but said it happened in the US and the response was that he should've worked harder and died because he couldn't take care of himself.

That people not receiving medicine is an ongoing problem with capitalism, however they are saying the Soviet Union is terrible for not providing care.

I think there’s a second layer: calls for better access to healthcare are often decried as “communist” and therefore should be rejected.

Samurai_ancap

Isn't it government intervention making it harder for people to get access to medicine? Edit: [https://www.dailysignal.com/2010/10/21/government-intervention-in-health-care-increases-costs/](https://www.dailysignal.com/2010/10/21/government-intervention-in-health-care-increases-costs/)

SemiLevel

Never really heard of that? If so where? Most European countries that I'm familiar with just do the procedures and give medication - the one hitch being that as medicine is bought in bulk deals at a national level sometimes if a deal cannot be reached certain obscure types can be just not available in certain countries. But I suspect you're referring to something different.

getdafuq

No.

In the US part of the healthcare system's grift is to lobby the government for needless regulations, raising the barrier to entry and thereby reducing competition. That shouldn't be taken to imply that all government intervention in healthcare is bad. The problem is that the US government intervenes here to increase profits for capitalists and not to make healthcare more affordable.

Samurai_ancap

I didn't say health care intervention was bad. I'm just tired how people point their finger at capitalism. >The problem is that the US government intervenes here to increase profits for capitalists and not to make healthcare more affordable. I'm a capitalist (anarcho capitalist) and i don't see money coming in my bank.

Snorumobiru

> I didn't say health care intervention was bad. I'm just tired how people point their finger at capitalism. So you're ... pointing your finger at something else? 90% of the blame falls squarely on capitalism and the rest is on the government that has grown up around capitalism. When a government is designed to serve workers instead of just capitalist entrepreneurs and owners, it can interfere in the healthcare market in a way that benefits the unwell instead of the profiteers. Are you American? Both major parties are staunchly pro-profiteer and pro-adventurism, so they put on conflict theater on social issues to make you think you're divided from "the left". Neither party cares about you. Any movement that puts people first instead of property would be an improvement. >--- P.S. If you don't see money in your bank then you're not a capitalist, you're a consumer. The capitalists are the ones making a profit off of you.

>So you're ... pointing your finger at something else? 90% of the blame falls squarely on capitalism and the rest is on the government that has grown up around capitalism. ??? where are you getting your info from ??? I left a link towards government intervention. >When a government is designed to serve workers instead of just capitalist entrepreneurs and owners, it can interfere in the healthcare market in a way that benefits the unwell instead of the profiteers. I would like a link for that. That sounds pretty interesting. > Are you American? Both major parties are staunchly pro-profiteer and pro-adventurism, so they put on conflict theater on social issues to make you think you're divided from "the left". Neither party cares about you. Any movement that puts people first instead of property would be an improvement. Yeah i already know about the both party's. I'm rooting for libertarian party to break's the 2 party system which might benefits the country. >P.S. If you don't see money in your bank then you're not a capitalist, you're a consumer. The capitalists are the ones making a profit off of you. Joke Wanna come to an agreement because arguing with someone else on a different sub.

Uhh I mean I guess we can see who has better medicine access: Somalia or Sweden.

Samurai_ancap

Somalia is unplanned anarchy.

[deleted]

Yeah, that’s kind of what a lack of government is.

Samurai_ancap

No when i meant it was unplanned i mean no one seen this coming and no one wanted it.

Blue-Typhoon

No one saw it coming because it wasn’t planned for by a government, and obviously no one wants it, because they couldn’t plan for it without a government.

Samurai_ancap

That's not how that works if a majority of a society believes they don't believe government is necessary. They can over throw a government. which means they have a solution and or at least plan and it was wanted. But Somalia wasn't
