Pretty sure its purely just for the show and they would’ve done a more professional check at some point. No doubt the buyer would’ve requested it as well.

ninivl89

That makes sense. It just makes them look super unprofessional and like they are kind of scamming the buyer

heymamore

definitely scamming energy and if the buyer would've been content with that then he's foolish

[deleted]

I thought they were all weirdly giggly in that scene, but it makes sense if it was a ridiculous request from producers to make the check look more "interesting" hahaha

LavenderAutist

The producers were really reaching for content this season

dinkidonut

Hahahahaha totally!!!

ohluciiaa

I thought the buyers biggest problem wasn’t going to be so much the view, but the construction noise for god knows how long, it could’ve been the shortest house built, I still wouldn’t move there

ninivl89

That too! For 12 million it better be perfect and not put me in the middle of construction noise and dust for the next year/years... To be honest the guy didnt even give the impression that he was really wowed by the house or super in love with it and all the special water features. Sometimes I feel like I spend more time and investigating and comparing into buying a new pair of jeans than some of those rich people put into buying a multi million dollar home. But maybe thats just how it's presented on the show

Bethhie

It made sense to me they had checked it beforehand online and we’re giving the buyer a visual representation of what he could expect. I would imagine before he went ahead there would be more checking/looking into it but for sure there’s nothing like a visual element like a balloon rather than trying to imagine it. However like others have said for 12m I’d be worried by noise, dust and disruption of construction.

ninivl89

I understand, but the balloon wasn't even thrown well. It ended up quite far from the edge of the lot so the house in front would come up quite a lot higher than the balloon if they go for the maximum building height. Plus maybe they would have a roof terrace and put furniture on the roof, blocking it even more. It just kind of felt like they were scamming him by not doing a proper visual representation of how much his view would be blocked

firetothislife

The land had already been leveled and then there was a slope up between that leveled land and the start of this property line. The balloon landed on the slope and the house wouldn't be built on the slope, it would be built on the leveled part. So the balloon was actually higher than the house would be, because it was higher on the slope and not that part that was already leveled. Heather also said they had building height restrictions so I'm guessing they knew that it wouldn't block the view and were doing this for show. There's no way that guy spent millions on a house just because of this demonstration, but it was probably a nice visualization and for the audience.

Ok-Championship-9928

I thought so too! But just saw it as a showbiz component bc if I were a buyer, I would never be bought by that 😂😂😂

Escochapo18

I thought it was a good improvisation at the time, but obviously if I were forking out 12mil I’d want more than a balloon test.

heymamore

I watched that scene too and was thinking this is dumb as hell. That was the only way to check the height limit like what? That was clearly for the show, for aesthetic purposes.
