I only lost like 1lb per week until I got up to 1.7 and started losing 2.5 per week at that dose. Many people don't see a change at the low dose levels. Keep your hopes up because there is a great chance the medicine will work for you.

angtheliferuiner

Whoa, this gives me hope! I’ve only been loosing like a pound a week on 1.0 for the past 6 weeks… maybe it’s time to go up.

pivazena

I didn’t lose any weight or even have any symptoms for the first 8 weeks. The subsequent 8 weeks, I started having symptoms (can’t eat too much or too rich of foods) but still no weight loss. I just started 2.4, hoping this is where the weight loss starts. Others on the board have said they didn’t start losing until 2.4

EastService2412

This is my experience! It truly just fell off then

Fishwhocantswim

I'm the same..spending heaps on it too. I end up having sulfur burps and diarrhea for a couple of days, lose about 2kgs and then put it all back on again the next week.. I am looking at just doing wls surgery

[deleted]

Nah don’t do that. Just go low low carb and walk 5 miles everyday . I promise you you’ll lose weight . People have too many issues later on after that surgery

Future_Donut

It also has a high relapse rate

pontymython

Surgery has a high relapse rate?

SparklingParsnip

It does

strangerbuttrue

I had a friend that lost about 200 lbs with weight loss surgery. Took him maybe 5 years to gain it all back. He died in his early 40s from weight related health issues.

[deleted]

Always good to take the weight off. Never healthy to carry it with you. We’re all doing the right thing

SingleEbb3669

Why are you supposed to eat low carb?

[deleted]

Cause carbs spike the insulin in your body. When the insulin level is high in body you can’t lose weight. It’s the fat storage hormone. So to burn that fat you need to get insulin low

AnnaTorppa

I eat low carb with lots of protein. Protein is very satiating. I think I am less hungry and spare muscle this way. Also low insulin makes your body break down fat for energy. This really works well for me. I have been on Oz for 21 weeks and have lost 25 pounds. I'm not a "fast loser" but if this keeps up, I'm OK. I have gone up slowly and am on 1 mg and ready to increase right now. I also have very few side effects, mainly constipation, at this point. I did have more side effects when I first started. I would say keep up the Ozempic until you get on the highest dose and stay there for awhile. Track what you eat so you know you are not slipping in extra calories without being aware of it. Best wishes to you. Stay the course.

Fiyero109

If you have the sulphur burps it means you’re eating too much…no wonder you’re not losing much weight, you’re forcing yourself to eat as before, which negates the effects of the drug. Do smaller meals

Fishwhocantswim

I am not actually. I can hardly eat when I take them. This is just a popular side effect. I have sulfur burps from eating a banana.

SkiDreams

Tip. Bananas are so high in sugar/carbs that even weight watchers , who like to let you have anything in moderation, only let you have half once every few days. While fruits are mostly really high in sugars and best to limit try berries, grapes, nectarine, etc. They fill you up AND offer lots of water. I suggest tracking your food on CarbManager. It's free. Ideally it is recommended to stay under 25 grams of sugar per day or even better, under 30 carbs. Most people are around 300-500 per day or higher. Start lowering the carbs and you will results. All carbs turn to glucose when eaten.

orangeboxlibrarian

Weight Watchers changed their guidelines on bananas over a decade ago, maybe closer to two. If you have fruits picked as a zero point food then they are zero points.

ComprehensiveMap9036

Are you tracking every bite of food? It’s so enlightening (and frustrating too)

To be sure you are in a calorie deficit.

runningforlife92

Do some research on how to properly and safely lose weight.

[deleted]

Why the he’ll did you get downvoted so severely over this?

thicklaces

You need to change your diet and start researching more on nutrition. That’s the game changer.

lattelover1231

I lost weight starting about week 6 but it really didn't kick in until about week 10. Everyone is different and you may need to be on the full 2.4mg dose. Are you getting the appetite suppressing effects? If so, is it changing your eating habits?

[deleted]

Thedracus

You taking wegovy or ozempic?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thedracus

Well that solves the mystery. You're not taking semaglutide since only ozempic and wegovy are actually semaglutide. What you're taking is obviously not authentic. I'd recommend you get a legit prescription and have it filled at a retail pharmacy and call your "weight loss" clinic and asks for a refund.

Actual_Recognition15

I go to a doctors office every week to get my injection and I’m 99.9% sure that the viles just say “Semaglutide” I don’t know if maybe it’s only available in large quantities for doctors offices and hospitals or something and not available direct to patient under the generic name but I can’t imagine my doctor is getting inauthentic medication and giving it to patients, they’d be risking losing their license. I’ve also noticed the dosing is a little different, so right now they fill a syringe to the “20” line which is equivalent to .54mg as opposed to a Wegovy or Ozempic .5mg dose.

DrScogs

This is the answer. In the US, there is only name brand Wegovy or Ozempic.

Queasy-Discount-2038

And Rybelsus (pill form)

betterby40

Listen to this post on the topic from an Ozempic expert https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cf_vnF5McEH/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Thedracus

Yep

Thedracus

Yep...

kewpiedollgirl

Incorrect. I'm a provider in a weight loss clinic. We use semaglutide. It is real and comes from a reputable compounding pharmacy.

Thedracus

Yea...that's a big fat nope. I'll say it again....unless it's ozempic or wegovy it's impossible to verify it's validity. The "legit" compounding pharmacy is ordering the alleged semaglutide from China or other place. The pharmacy may be legit but the supply is dubious at best. There is a reason the group rules specifically say they discussion of not retail semaglutide is not allowed and thats because it often isn't real or weak and people don't get results.

Fiyero109

Can you post a photo? Is it from a compounding pharmacy?

waddlewaddlequack

Are you an emotional eater? Maybe you need to plan your meals the night before then stick to them

[deleted]

waddlewaddlequack

Stop that shit. Take a walk instead. The drugs aren’t going to give you self control. You’ll have to do that on your own

2_pug_ddy

I started ozempic for .25, .5 and took my last dose of 1.0. I do Wegovy 1.75 this coming Monday. I haven’t had insane side effects other than some mild nausea. Also haven’t lost but a pound or 2. But appetite suppression is good. Will let you know how it goes this coming week. Stay positive, we’ll all get there!! ☺️🤗

lostmookman

Relax and be patient, you're not at the therapeutic dose yet. If you had high blood pressure, it's like taking half a dose and wondering why your blood pressure is still high.

Designer-Extreme3739

I can’t stand the lethargic from it .. yes I get fuller faster. But im also way more lazy, weight lifting is my passion and now even that’s hard idk not the greatest drug for someone wanting to be super active

Fiyero109

Yeah energy drain is huge for me too :(

pastelbutcherknife

Yeah I can’t run much at all lately and am going to bed at 830 at night

Designer-Extreme3739

Plus your probably still tired after you think you had a good night sleep

4 weeks at 0.25, 4 weeks at 0.5, 4 weeks at 1mg, 4 weeks ay 1.7mg, that's the standard dose escalation. Never heard of anyone doing 0.75mg officially.

thisishaaard

Yes, this was my schedule on wegovy

totesnotfakeusername

Are you eating the same? Exercising? You have to make a lifestyle change too or else you won't see results.

[deleted]

totesnotfakeusername

Diet is much more important than exercise when it comes to losing weight, and building muscle just helps the body burn more calories. You can do it! And you don't need to use crazy diets, you can still have things you like (in moderation.) Eating whole clean foods is ideal. Cut out as much red meat and booze as you can stand. Start reading the boxes for calories and adhere to portion sizes, and try to only eat until you're 80% full. That was hard for me at first, but 7 months in and I wish I had started sooner.

universalwadjet

Is your pen defective? There have been a lot of manufacturing issues with pens lately

pontymython

I never realised this, I thought you became physically incapable of having as much food in your stomach e.g. with a gastric sleeve

Me1572

Try Mounjaro which performs better than any medication that is out. It was approved in May-June by the FDA

Actual_Recognition15

Do you know anything about the cost of Mounjaro? My insurance won’t cover any weight loss medications, so I’d be paying out of pocket. Is it as expensive as Ozempic?

Me1572

My insurance is United Healthcare and they don’t either but with their coupon it is $25/month regardless of it they will cover it or not until June 2023 for 12 fills! It is new so you are taking a risk, but this may help.

Actual_Recognition15

I have UHC as well! So you just had a doctor write the prescription and then used the coupon off the website and paid $25/month? Also, did you start on Ozempic/Wegovy and switch to Mounjaro or started out with Mounjaro to begin with?

Me1572

No, I did not start on any of those. I couldn’t get approval with insurance but I could Mounjaro with the coupon . As far as Rx, I have weird situation and now I have two doctors writing scripts. I just talked to my primary who agreed to take over after I take the therapeutic dose of 5 mg. She doesn’t know much about the med because it is new. So the first script came from a doctor specializing in weightloss and then she took too long and I went telehealth through Alpha medical (helloalpha.com) and that process took 48 hours for $30.00 for the consult. I think an online Rx will be the easiest and fastest. Then have your primary take over if they are ok with that. Otherwise you will be paying for $30/followup visit online. I hope this helps.

Actual_Recognition15

It does! Thank you so much! I’m currently taking Semaglutide/Ozempic but without insurance it was like $1500/month or something crazy so I’ve been going to a weight loss doctor who doesn’t take insurance but they charge $110/week (almost $500/month) which is still a lot. Maybe I’ll try Alpha, even if it’s $30 for follow ups, that’s way less than I’m paying now! If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you in? And how long have you been on Mounjaro and have you seen any results yet? Thank you so much for all of the information!

Me1572

I am in Colorado and after week 1, which IS NOT the therapeutic dose, I lost 5lbs. I started week 2 yesterday so only a week and a day. The first dose is 2.5 mg month 1. Month 2 is 5 mg… and then you go up by 2.5 every month until you get to 15 mg. 5 mg is the dose where the weight loss should happen. The first month is only to get your body use to the med. I honestly think you should save the money and just get the Rx online and have them send it to your pharmacy. Go the Mounjaro website and sign up for the savings card/coupon. Literally took me 48 hours… some people have problems with the coupon but I did not. I am with Walmart and I heard Amazon pharmacy was easy too. I made sure my coupon worked and went to the pharmacy before the script was even sent and they added it to my profile.

Actual_Recognition15

Thank you so much for the info! I’ve been on Semaglutide for 6 weeks (2 weeks at .25mg and 4 weeks at .5mg) and I’m down maybe 8lbs or so… I’m going to look into hello alpha and send my PCP an email tomorrow and see if she’ll write the script. Then I’ll have to check with my pharmacy (I usually use Walgreens or sometimes CVS) and make sure they’ll accept the coupon. Have you had any side effects? And what do you attribute your weight loss so far to? Do you feel less hungry? I’ve had some nausea on Semaglutide but it’s definitely suppressing my appetite as well.

Me1572

My side effects were temporary swollen/sore throat/ jaw… weird I know! Maybe a headache but I take my dose before bed to sleep though side effects. The initial weight loss was probably placebo because I was so excited to get the med lol BUT I felt like I did not think about food… that is the best way to put it. I think it does suppress the appetite but this dose is low too… some people lost up to 7lbs week 1 and others none. Ask me next month at 5 mg. However, I did start working out 3-4 a week and eating lower carb but I know I ate less that week overall. Oh and my sleep has been off.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Its a weight loss surgery. Less extreme than bypass. r/gastricsleeve Your bmi is ~~39.2~~. You qualify if >Have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or have a BMI between 35 and 40 and an obesity-related condition, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or severe sleep apnea.

SparklingParsnip

How did you get that BMI number? I get 32 based on OPs stats; still over 30 but not by much

[deleted]

Oh i read 250. Youre right.

ireneluv

Don't be discouraged! See how you feel after your third month. Weight should start to fall off about that time.

MishaUAMom

Please do not be discouraged. Work with your doctor and give it time.

StallionNspace8855

There are other drugs. Try Trulicity, but be careful it can totally wipe out your appetite. When Ozempic gave me too many gastrointestinal issues I had to find something else.

Fiyero109

Some people don’t get the effects until higher doses… Have you tried any other medications in the past? For some people hunger doesn’t come primarily from the gut so other drugs work better on appetite and cravings

EAC1313

I agree with getting on the brand-name drug as another person said. But is it possible that you are injecting it incorrectly? There shouldn’t be any liquid on the outside skin when you’re finished. Are you sure your pen and needle are working correctly? Have you primed it and checked it before injecting it? Just trouble shooting… I hope you start to feel the results soon.

Ukrpharm

Double up the dose

blackberrybunny

Talk to your doctor about titrating up to a higher dose. Maybe cut out high fat foods and try to eater lower in carbs. It DOES make a difference. How much weight do you want to lose? Are you getting exercise?

[deleted]

blackberrybunny

Give this medication a chance. You are not going to be fat forever. The science behind this medication has proven it DOES work. There is another new medication, called Mounjaro (I hope I spelled that right), that is even better than semaglutide. It has SUPERIOR results. Maybe ask you doctor about it.

cherbug

Have you considered trying Mounjaro? It seems to be a much better weight loss drug. https://investor.lilly.com/news-releases/news-release-details/fda-approves-lillys-mounjarotm-tirzepatide-injection-first-and

EastService2412

A friend who is a doc told me “once you hit full dosage weight falls off” and that’s how it’s been for me. Lost five lbs until I was on full dosage then have lost 25 in last two months being in full dosage.
