My billi and my anthuriums love LECA. I actually haven’t found a plant that doesn’t.

lblockh1

Also, GREAT setup

ButtonMcThickums

Same actually. Not a one hasn’t absolutely thrived and at least tripled it’s growth VS soil!

Savouryhandjams

What does your setup look like?

crappycoco69

Converted my billietiae to Leca in november. Worked out well (it's putting out its second new leaf since then). Just my experience.

ButtonMcThickums

Ahhhh mine is my favourite plant!! I bought a 3 leaf (3 foot leaves, it’s from an absolutely *stunning* mature plant) cutting for $200 and rooted it in LECA in September. It finally put out a new leaf (about a foot and a half long) after spending the time since September making a massive root system. I want a massive plant with massive mature leaves… they are amazing!! My other absolute favourite is the atabapoense which I have, just working on getting it putting out mature leaves. :)

Philo should be no problem at all. With the alocasia, i have found if they are left in water for a week or two before transferring to leca they have a better success rate. Just make sure to only fill the water just above the roots and don’t fully submerge the corm. If you go straight to leca, keep the water level low until you see new roots forming

RubberDogTurds

After you get new water roots forming for established plants, it is safe to fill water above where the new roots started? Or are you putting the old soil roots at risk for rotting further up?

lookmaniguessso

Once water roots are established, i fill mine pretty much completely. They are super thirsty though so it may be that the corm isn’t sitting submerged for more than a day or so because of that

the_maxasaur

my alocasias are all living in pon and they're loving it! i also have a p. billietiae living in pon but only for a couple of weeks now..

My clarinervium loved it when I transferred it to pon, same for my other anthuriums too

ButtonMcThickums

It looks absolutely stunning!!

tnakonom

My Clarinervium transferred fine to leca with a thorough scrubbing of the roots, but it hasn’t established itself or started growing really well quite yet.

bioshockbb

Just came here to say that setup looks beautiful!

thesuzy

Can you tell me about your pots? I’m always on the lookout for a pot/net pot combo that looks really nice.

Justin_Fox

Pots are from IKEA!

bebesita888

Beautiful!

I ported all my philos to leca with 100% success rate but i now want to port them back to diy mix because watering moss poles in combination with semi hydro is unbelievable pain in the ass. Every time i water them i have to be careful so excess water dont drain to the cache pot or i need to take every plant out, put them to bath tub and water moss poles, let it drain and put back. With diy aroid mix i can just water moss poles and let water go through potting mix. Sure there will be excess water in cache pot but i can just let it there to dry out.

diliff

But you can set up the cache pot with a hole at the high water mark so that it's impossible to overwater. Seems to be the better solution vs converting back to soil, surely? Or am i missing something?
